Ok so I know we have 2 more months but today I bought LOs Halloween costume. She is going to be Minnie. She is obsessed with Mickey and Minnie so it's perfect. Thank goodness babies r us accepts buy buy baby coupons because it was $36!!! Crazy expensive. What is your LO going to be for Halloween this year?

I haven't thought that far ahead yet because last year my MIL ruined Halloween for me. She went out and bought DS a costume in September without consulting with DH or myself, I was lividly pissed and still am! She ruined my baby's first Halloween (well mainly for me) and she will probably ruin it again this year.
That being said, DH would like to dress DS up as an ewok from Star Wars and I am totally game for it!
BTW: I liked my MIL until DS was born now she drives me nuts. She took away all of my firsts with my child in his first year and it really struck a wrong cord with me.

Oh geez I don't remember this but if I were you i would have said no thanks and make her take it back or donate it.
I don't know what T will be. I don't dress up and the stress of dressing someone else up makes me anxious. So, I imagine that it will mostly be a father/daughter thing. I have gotten o to handing out candy the last few years and I already have stuff for the bags I'll make.
lakecountrygal maybe you guys should tell her that he is going to be an Ewok now. That's what you guys were thinking for last year - am I remembering right? Maybe find a link to show her what you plan on buying - maybe she will purchase it for you? (unless you plan on making it) And, I think if she buys a costume this year then your husband has to give it back to her.

bsouls he was supposed to be an ewok last year, that's awesome that you remembered. I like that idea, I'll make DH call and tell her what he's going to be this year for Halloween and then if we don't have to spend money on the costume I can deal with that as long as he is what we want him to be.

I actually found some super cheap costumes in a 2T last year at target so I bought them then. She is either going to be Doc McStuffins or a cowgirl. We are also doing a Halloween event at our zoo so I'll probably get to use both.
lakecountrygal, sorry your MIL did that. It sucks when you have something in mind and then someone else goes and changes those plans.
My mom made all of my Halloween costumes for me until I was about 13. I would like to do the same for my kids. Not sure what Carter is going to be but I should prob get into the fabric store soon to look through the patterns.
I just asked dh yesterday what we should do. We have no ideas yet; I love the homemade costumes but I'm lazy/not a sewer/crafter so store bought it will be. I like to run by the 2nd hand stores as they typically have really cute stuff for a good price. I will add it to my to do list for the next weekend or two.

lakecountrygal I remember that from last year. If she tries it again I'd just hand the costume back and say you have it covered. Don't let her ruin this Halloween.
I'm not sure what DD will be. I made her a raggedy Anne doll costume last year but we didn't go anything or go anywhere. This year I want to take her out. I'd love to do a theme costume with both kids. Off to Pinterest I go!
Even though I don't like cats, I've decided T will be a cat. She loves to make the meow sound and "paw" at her ear like she thinks cats do. So I figured that would be one I could find with either a warm cat suit or easy enough to match leggings with if it's cold.
She was this pig last year, since it was cold (never know with TX weather) I just put a pink long sleeve shirt and leggings on her.

@pandawatch because my MIL is a bitch and refuses to give us receipts to return anything she buys and won't tell us where it came from. She buys me clothes 1-2 sizes too small then has a fit because I never wear it. Give me a damn receipt so I can get the right size and maybe I would!

Sounds like a peach. I would roll my eyes in her face

So far we seem to do two costumes, we do a halloween event in addition to trick or treating on halloween, but also because in Michigan we can never be sure if it will be summer, fall or winter weather. So right now she has a U of M cheerleading outfit I got at a garage sale this summer...I just need a onesie to go under it and a diaper cover if we can find one in the right color. I'll glue some pom poms onto some white shoes, and I am hoping we can borrow some poms poms from someone. I like to do costumes super cheap since they are, after all, just for a few hours.
I'm going to a resale shop tomorrow, they are putting out their costumes, so I am hoping to find something cute and warm since her other costume would be for warmer weather. Maybe cookie monster or something like that. If I absolutely have to buy new, I found a few in the $20 range at Party City that are cute.

Cheerleading outfit as a costume is such a great idea!! LO has a cheerleading outfit so that is a good backup to Minnie.

I don't think I'm going to do one this year. We don't go trick or treating, no one comes to our door and DD won't be in daycare the day before Halloween to be able to wear it. Party pooper, I know lol.

My BF informed me that he wants to look for a monkey costume for DD (M14) and a banana costume for DS. I'm glad he came up with something; makes my life so much easier. Now to find these costumes!
We got DS's ewok costume yesterday from Target! He looks so cute in it!!
How is the quality of costume from Target? I am looking at the mischevious monkey and can't tell if I'd need layers underneath or not for DD? I'm in Canada so I'd be shipping it from the states.
Levi is going to be Superman, no I haven't bought the suit yet, but I found some cute little Superman Sock/bootie things for $1 at Shoehouse Warehouse this weekend so now I'm looking online.

Old navy has superman t-shirts if you get in a bind to find a costume.
