2 1/2 months is a blink of an eye compared to how long it'll be before George Martin publishes his next book.
I assume you've all already seen this this, but for good measure:
(Make sure you watch the end)
Weird Al is and forever will be my hero. Thanks for sharing this!! My husband and I were late to the party. We binged watched all of the game of thrones episodes last year. And now we've cut the cord and have no cable. Only antenna TV and Hulu/Netflix. I am waiting patiently for hbo to be offered as a standalone subscription. The big execs said it would happen in 2015. If it doesn't happen before game of thrones I seriously don't know wtf I'll do.

This thread has made me miss Game of Thrones enough to start a re-watch from Season 1. It'll get me all geared up for April, which is still way too far away.
Also, so jealous of all the snow. I know it can be a pain in the ass for you guys, but I miss it. We haven't had a proper amount here in years. Supposed to get some tomorrow so we'll see what happens.

Find a friend with an HBO subscription and offer them X amount of $$ to use their HBO go account. That's what we did!

GENIUS! Only problem is I don't have many friends and most of them are cheap... This will be quite an epic task.
Our "snow" was all of 1/2 inch that was melted by 10:30, yet my kids still didn't have school. So silly!! They have no idea how to act in any amount of snow around here, ridiculous!!!

HBO would be stupid to not release their stand alone viewing before GoT comes back on. They know that's why everyone has it anyway. They stand to make so much money from this that I'm sure they won't be able to pass it up!

I'm banking on this statement exactly.
Either way, chances are whatever venue you are watching it on, other than cable, will probably crash. We tried watching the season 4 premier on hbo go last year and there were so many people on it was garbage. We just started waiting until Monday night to watch them. It was ok until DH saw a spoiler about Joffrey's wedding on Tumblr.
I haven't read the books, on purpose. The show is so fucking amazing that for the first time, I don't want to spoil the show with the books. I'll read them when the show concludes. DH and I are such super nerds, we bought tickets to see the final 2 episodes of last season in IMAX this Sunday.
This. I have them but I'm waiting. I'm usually the other way around but the show is just. So. Good. I don't want to ruin it.
mommakc and jordanelizabeth, those pics are awesome. I know it's a hassle, but it's so darn beautiful and quiet outside when it gets that snowy... I miss it!
Ok GoT people! DH and I started watching. We are in season 2. If I started reading the first book.... I wouldn't get ahead would I?
Depends- are you the obsessive reader type? Nothing is on book 1 that shows up in season 2, but if you're like me, I would go straight to the next book regardless of what season I was on...

If it's a good book then I can finish it rather quickly. The books are kind of long it seems. But we would be watching as I'm reading… I'm thinking by the time I finish book 1 we'd be on season 3.

Nope. Season one correlates well with book one. Also I've read them all. And word on the street is that grrm has given the writers the major story arcs for finishing if he does or the show catches up. Also heard that his way to see if they were worthy to make the show was to ask who john's mother was :-p

****STUCK IN A BOX!
I am at the beginning of season 2. So I am going to hope that we you say you miss snow… that you are talking about the white stuff.

Yes I am talking about the white stuff. We are in Houston, no snow here

The plot thickens! I didn't know that astheria! My friends here have a theory that Jon Snow was never Ed Stark's son. Instead he was Robert baratheon's son and as a friend he took the blame to protect the kid. That's why he never looked like any one else in the stark fam. As for who's the mom, that's such a good question and I'm considering rereading all books to see if I can figure that out! There are loopholes to that theory though. For example, how was Jon Snow able to get a direwolf if he didn't have Stark blood? Questions, questions...

Our theory is that he is actually Ned's sisters child from when she was raped. So a Stark, but not the one we're led to believe.
Also, read all of the books! We stated the series in 2001 and had 3 boss to tear through. Then it wad another 4 years. I worry it well end up like Wheel of Time, but if Brandon Sanderson was bright in to finish the series I'd be okay.
