My baby shower is being held out of state so I will be flying back and forth to it. I believe most people will send gifts directly to my house as everyone knows I will be flying. If they don't, I will just ship myself or try to take on plane, no big deal.
My question is: Do I wait to open things that are sent to my house until after the shower?
I would open it before, just so that you can gush about what your guest gave you when you see them at the shower.
Personally, I'd call them to let them know that the gift arrived and how much I love it soon after receiving it. And depending on who it is I'd have them on the line while I was opening it (my grandmas live for that stuff.)

I'm in the same boat. I plan to open things as they arrive, and unless it's within the week of my OOT shower, I will shoot them a text/message to know it arrived. I plan to thank them at the shower, and of course a written TY when the shower is over.

I'm confused on why people would wait to write TY notes for presents they've already opened. Why after the shower? People like timely notes better, and you won't be writing them all at the same time! You can still gush at the shower.
