Tips and tricks for potty training

I know it is kind of early for true potty training. But I have so many questions!! 

 

What is your plan,  have you started thinking about it,  any reading material that could help?  what cues to look for that lets you know its time to start?

For you seasoned mothers out there any tips, hints, or tricks that can help the rest of us get things started?  what did you do,  what seemed to work for you and what didn't?

We have an ikea potty seat. He sits on it clothed but not naked. We point out every time he makes a pee or poop, and yesterday, for the first time he "peed on command" but all over the bathroom floor. We are taking a very slow approach for the time being, just introducing him to the concept. He gets to see us using the potty.

We also have a small potty and she sits on it clothed. She sees me on the toilet all the time and whenever we walk by the bathroom she says "mama!" (Rather embarrassing when she does this with other people!)
She can tell us when she has pooped.
We're trying to get her at least on her way to trained by the time the baby gets here. But we have no idea what we're doing lol

Last night was the first time Lo was interested in what I was doing on the potty and tried to see around me when I was cleaning. I did let her flush and watch the paper swirl around and said bye bye. I think I am going to buy her a seat to play with. maybe in the tub some, to help her get use to sitting on one and see it as a fun place to be not scary. I would love to get her out of diapers and save so much money every month! I will have to try real hard not to push her too hard!

I'm not even thinking about starting to actively potty train. She just started telling us when she has pooped/peed earlier this week. She is constantly in the bathroom with me, and she likes to help me get toilet paper (I'm kind of thinking she just likes to play with the roll though... not actually help haha). Unless she starts getting interested in using the potty on her own, we will probably start actively introducing it around 2 years old. I plan to buy the seats you can put on the real toilet.

We will not start before 2 and then only if Levi is consistently noticing a wet/dirty diaper. He sees me and his dad, brothers, etc go to the restroom all the time. He uses his potty chair as a toy (I've never used one! Only used the real toilet with my olders). I've never used pullups either they are a pita and gross if pooped in.
I will wait until he shows more signs and then will do the 3 days in the house naked, sit on toilet all the time method. After that it will be underwear and if he doesn't get it within ?2-3 weeks with fewer and fewer accidents then we will revert to diapers and wait until he is really ready even if that isn't for another year. those are my thoughts right now.

OMG Lo went poopy in the potty last night!! she was taking her bath, looked at me and said poppy. So I scooped her up and placed her on the potty. she just looked at me for a second then I gave a grunt. she laughed which made her fart. After laughing with her she was pushing trying to fart again to make me laugh and she pooped!! Its the little things that make you happy!! It is probably a one time thing, but she at least knew she had to poo

She knows the whole process, pants/diaper down, sit on the potty, grab toilet paper, "wipe" shove it down inbetween her legs, close the toilet cover and flush.

She is just now getting to where she knows the "urges". She'll grab down there and say poo poo or potty, but by the time we get to the bathroom, she's already pooped in her diaper. But we still go through the whole potty process.

So I guess that's my thing right now, anytime she says "potty" or "poo poo", I ask if she wants to go to the potty and she takes off running. I put her on the potty and sit with her to let her decide when she's "done". Sometimes she already strips her diaper off and then says potty and takes off running. We still haven't put the two together though, she knows the urges but can't get ahead of them in terms of making it to the potty before she goes in her diaper. But I don't think it will be long once she does start realizing the urges in time since she has the whole concept down and enjoys stripping to sit on the potty. It's a PITA for Momma, but I'll do it all day long if it eventually helps her realize what she's supposed to actually do on the potty.

Do you do the horrible song and dance like me?! T hasn't earned it yet, but she likes when I sing it for myself which I am hoping will make her want to do it.

Ours goes "tee tee on the potty, tee tee on the potty, YAY MOMMA YAY"  or when she goes it will be YAY T YAY of course.

But she loves to dance to it.

Buy a case of liquor. That's about the only help I can give.

E is 50/50 on the potty.
James we potty trained but I'm still traumatized.

DS is scarred of the potty still. He likes to see me potty, but its the only thing he fleshy want to do like mama and papa.

DD has pooped once on the potty and hasn't done it since. She also hasn't quite figured out the urge for pee yet so I'm not pushing it. Also, I am due in a few weeks and I don't want to be in the middle of potty training while nursing a newborn.
