Oh, hi! Buffaluffagus, previously known as Buffaluffagus. Husband was on a work trip for a full week and got home in time to mess up a lovely routine the kids and I had set in place. I know it was only 7 days he was gone, but DAMN. Bedtime was so ridiculously smooth for the first time ever, minimal junk food for the threenager, I was starting to clean up the DVR. He gets home and it's back to bedtime drama, he gave the big a candycane and then a chocolate covered cherry AND THEN a hand full of chips (seriously?!?! the kid just had lunch), and he's back to insisting on watching his episodes of General Hospital for hours on end every night.
I'M SO EFFING SICK OF GENERAL HOSPITAL! ... Says the person who has like 8 televisions in her house.
Holy rant. Um, basically things are good and I like to find reasons to whine.
The week is going ok so far. The weather has been gross so we've been stuck inside a lot but DS has been dealing with it relatively well.
Things have been busy. DS's birthday is on Thursday and we're having the (small) party on Sunday so I'm prepping for that. My MIL and mom are then coming to stay all of next week because I'm having surgery on Wednesday so I'm also trying to meal prep and ready the house for guests.
That's about it. Hope you ladies are having a good week.
Good luck with your nights alone @joybaby5. My DH travels often for work and those days can be hard. It's hard not to have any time alone. I hope it goes well - and quickly!
caer What type of surgery are you having? You don't have to answer if you don't want, of course. We'll be thinking of you.
I was on vacation this past week, so not much to report from the SAHM front. DS is cranky today; Grandma's house must be more fun. Or, his third tooth is bugging him. He did take a step or two today, so that was exciting!

sjelwood - It's a fistulotomy. Don't google, it's gross. It's essentially butt surgery. I won't be able to lift or drive or sit comfotably for a bit so the grandmas are coming in as reinforcement. Thanks for the well wishes. Congrats on your little guy's first steps!
buffaluffagus you make me laugh. I love that one of your accomplishments was cleaning up the dvr. I hate an overcrowded and messy dvr. Your H really watches GH?! Anyway, I hope you get back your smooth routine and neat dvr soon!

It was intense! I finished all but the last episode of Resurrection, I watched all of True Detective and purged all the Fresh Beat Bands and Doc McStuffins since they haven't been requested in ages.
I forgot to add that I checked at the library for their story hour time, and it's on SATURDAY. At precisely nap time. I was so looking forward to doing that weekly, but on Saturday?! That's my sleep-in day. Womp womp.
caer it's been so cold here, but I've been getting us out. It's just better when we do. So, unless it's dangerous for us to go out, we go. GL with your surgery. Hoping it goes smoothly and your recovery is quick and painless.
@joybaby5 I get whiny when my DH travels too. I'm whiny right now because he's getting a haircut while I deal with my hot mess child. I hope the time goes quickly and smoothly.
sjelwood I'm glad you had a good vacation and a safe trip. Hopefully DS remembers that you're awesome to hang out with! Did he do well at grandma's?
Hey ladies! This week has been pretty good. We've had milder weather here for the last couple of days, so I'm hoping that means I can take E for a run tomorrow while the bugs are in school. I've been able to carve a little time for myself lately to sew, and that can make all the difference in the world for me. We also caught up (for now) on laundry, that I was behind two weeks on, so that's been nice. Today I went over to my SIL's and hung out for a bit, and it was SO NICE to talk to another adult in person for a while. I think I'll see if she wants to make it a weekly thing. I don't want to get rid of all my free mornings, but one day a week would be nice. Today I feel like super woman. I had to drag the Es out to run some errands, and we were able to squeeze all three stops in time to go pick up the others from school.
caer good luck with the surgery! buffaluffagus a clean dvr/queue makes me feel so good, too. I love purging shows that we're no longer watching from our Netflix queue. It's very cathartic.
buffaluffagus I love DH but I've also felt things run a little smoother when he's gone. Plus I catch up on the clutter trail that seems to follow him.
caer Yey party prep! Thinking of you and your upcoming surgery.
@joybaby5 I hope the next few days goes fast for you!
sjelwood Our library story time falls at nap time too! Frustrating!
We're having a tough week. DS had a stomach bug and now DH has the flu. MIL is sick too and my parents are kinda far/have jam packed schedules. I was feeling rough this AM but I'm feeling better now. My mom may come for a little bit tomorrow which would let me catch up on things or take a nap. I can't wait til everyone is healthy and happy again!
I'm so sorry you're having a crummy week LBS2012. You've had a lot on your hands with all the illnesses recently! I hope everyone feels better soon and you get a much needed break.

caer GL on your surgery @joybaby5 hopefully these next few days without your H go quickly LBS2012 sorry about the rough week
LO is going through teething HELL right now. She has her 2 top molars just starting to poke through plus 3 other teeth that are trying to break. I'm all for getting this teething business done and over with but this is a bit much. She spent the night last night at MIL and when we went to get her tonight MIL said she experienced poopaggeddon all day (I suspect from the teething) and now she has the worst rash she's ever had, ever. I feel so bad for her. It's so painful. It was nice to have the day 'off' and to just sleep and relax but I suspect I'm going to pay for it tonight/tomorrow.
It's been kind of up and down here. I'm still not feeling great, and I haven't really gotten enough sleep or enough time for myself. I'm frustrated by a very clingy LO who won't play even when I'm on the floor touching him. He's also getting up super early now, which means my morning routine is shot to piece.s. So I'm back to starting my day by rushing around and racing to get a couple things done before LO loses his cool in the crib. It's not my favorite thing. I simply can't get up any earlier because I'm not getting enough sleep as it is.
On the positive side, LO and I have been to some play dates in my moms group, and I've met some really nice other moms. I'm feeling more comfortable going to those meetups. It helps us both soooooooo much to get out of the house.
MadisonPenny I'm glad your mil is able to help you out, and I hope LO will feel better soon! Those fteeth! Hopefully they come in fast so you can get a little break. How are you feeling?
Thank you guys for the thoughts! I'll be fine with just L and I. I have projects to do, and my kitchenaid should be arriving tomorrow!! I will have to play with that bad boy! What do I make first??
MadisonPenny I'm glad your mil is able to help you out, and I hope LO will feel better soon! Those fteeth! Hopefully they come in fast so you can get a little break. How are you feeling?
Thx. I got a prescription for the morning sickness so that's better now. I think the worst (and I'm just whinning here) is the constant eating so I don't feel sick in the first place. It just feels like such a chore. The fatigue is unbelievable. I don't remember being this tired. Overall though, Im feeling pretty good. DH and I ended up tell his parents over the weekend. They were pretty surprised and excited. I go for our U/S next Monday. FX that its a good visit.

Did you have MS with LO? The Meds changed my life -- I could actually get out of bed. But yeah, I hear you on the constant eating. I spent so much time worrying about eating, thinking about eating, planning my food, or actually eating. -- and sometimes it still didn't work and I felt awful.
GL on the US! Keep us posted, mama. I'm hoping everything is perfect.
@maddisonpenny molars already? that's terrifying! poor mommy, MIL, and baby.
caer i hope your surgery goes smoothly and that you get an opportunity to enjoy being waited on while you recover (not always a possibility as a mom, but maybe?)!
mevaroo i'm in awe of you and your clean laundry, efficient errands, time for sewing and plans to jog. i got a jogging stroller as an xmas present and I'm looking forward to warmer temps and time off from the breast pump to be able to finally use it.
shellbell +1 yay for playdates! i love how you can always talk about the kids. how many teeth they have, when they woke up, what they tried to eat off the floor. I think I'm going to volunteer to host a playdate next week and I'm nervous about having the house baby proofed enough. I'm sorry your morning schedule is a mess; hopefully LO will go back to sleeping later soon!
We are trucking along here. Dh has pretty much been constantly working for the last month so I've been on my own and it's starting to get to me. That and the fatigue in the afternoon is awful because it usually hits after lo has had her nap.
I am so jealous of all the babies with teeth. Lo still had 0. I'm seriously starting to worry she doesn't have any. But then sometimes I'm pretty sure she is using my nips as chew toys...
We are going to try and get out of the house next week for my sanity.
sjelwood and Rettaboo trying to manage naps and classes is tough. tomorrow i have to plan my whole day around library story time. I try to wake him up in the morning just in time for us to be leaving the house just as he's waking up from his first nap. sometimes he won't nap and the plan backfires spectacularly.
i have a question about library storytime etiquette. Do you think I should be trying to get my baby to sit still on my lap or can i let him crawl around? he cries whenever i try to corral him but none of the other babies are as antsy as he is. personality? bad mothering?
betheliz other things are suffering for having gotten those things done. My house is super messy, dishes aren't done, and laundry is starting to pile up again. I don't want anyone to get the impression that I have all my crap together

Oh, I had MS with LO. I had it until about week 22 and it was all day, everyday. And the meds didn't work.

betheliz and armfruit yea I know. Molars. Already. It is crazy. Once all these teeth all pop she will have 12 teeth! She already has 7. The kid already has a pearly white smile and she hasn't celebrated her first birthday. Crazy. Oh, I forgot to mention that she's turned into a beaver. I caught her chewing her crib when I put her down for a nap on Monday. So I got creative. Instead of buying and spending more $$ on something actually meant to prevent damage from these chewing beavers and woodchucks I used the useless bumper pads I had stored away in a bin in the basement and wrapped them around the edge. It's not the prettiest but I think it will work. FX.
Also, she woke up last night, so we did a bum change and that flaming red rash was gone. I'm so glad.
armfruit I'm glad you're feeling good about your upcoming trip. While I missed DS of course, it was nice to get a break and recharge.
bmbrinson09 I'm sorry you're feeling burnt out; when do you think your DH's workload will lighten up?
betheliz I'm sure you're fine, and it's definitely not bad mothering! I've actually never been to our story hour so no real advice, but I do know how freaking impossible it is to get these baddlers to sit still. We tried getting his 11-month sticker pics the other day and it was a giant fail.
