I am just so crazy exhausted that I can't do a hike with a big backpack strapped to me. I just don't have it in me right now. Kuddos for you keeping it up! We are going to a local state park. We have a ton within close driving distance. The Southwest sounds like it would be a blast and beautiful scenery change in the middle of winter!
That's awesome! Happy anniversary! Where are you going? Honestly, I plan to continue backpacking despite the status of my uterus. I may have DH carry more of the weight and go on shorter trips. Also, there apparently gets to be a point where you can't use the hip belt on the pack, which may make things challenging, but I think there are ways to work around that (adapting the pack, carrying less weight). Of course the real issue is that it'll be winter and mudseason up here in New England through most of my pregnancy, but DH and I have been throwing around the idea of a January-ish trip to some place warm (maybe the southwest) to do some hiking at least, and backpacking if I'm up for it.
