How are the snowbunny mamas gettingby today? I'm also thinking about the Super Bowl. Just the commercials and snacks. Are there any hostesses of big Sunday parties among us?

Not hosting a Super Bowl party, but I am having a surprise anniversary party for my sister that afternoon. She got married last year, quick court house wedding and never had a reception. Her and her now husband were going through the adoption process for him to adopt her son. Most of their money was tied up in that. So I wanted to plan a surprise anniversary party/reception for them.
We usually have a Super Bowl party, but not this year. We will just have one other family come over. I have no idea what to make and my DH is zero help on that front.
The snow finally stopped falling. I think we only got around 25" or so. We are coastal so very fortunate there was no flooding.
We are hosting a party. We will be having a "tiramisu- off" both my DH and his best friend love tiramisu and have a favorite (DH loves the one our local whole foods makes). So everyone will be bringing tiramisu and they will blind taste test each one for the 'official tiramisu' I think there will be 4 different ones coming.

Um, this sounds amazing. I LOVE tiramisu!
We've hosted SB parties in the past but won't be doing it this year. I'm not really feeling the SB this year to be honest.
Dh & I usually throw a super bowl party with food representing the two cities. We started planning our menu then realized most of our friends made plans with their Seahawk friends. Makes sense since we live in Seattle & don't like the Hawks. So it will be low key w/ a few family/friends who don't want to root for them either.
jjh1119 what time should I get there? (I want that tiramisu real bad)
No real Super Bowl plans here either. We'll watch but I'm pretty indifferent. I can't believe it's only Wednesday. This feels like the longest week ever.
I've been eating really good and I asked dh to get me some almond m&ms as a treat. He came back with peanut and said they didn't have any. I almost want to go look myself. Peanut..... gross.
I don't know what to make either, jac409! The best I can come up with is sliders and guacamole.
Except now I want to try to make tiramisu! jjh1119 I love tiramisu so much that that's what I named my childhood cat! And I'm glad you all are doing okay.
Even before our height/weight discussion yesterday I had tried to dress my baby in a too-small outfit, so I sadly put aside some of her clothes. And then I looked at her last night and she looks like a baby! Not just a squishy newborn. We'll be dropping these kids off at school before we know it!
jjh1119 conveniently enough he DID eat some....hmmmm lol
zengal I used an old diaper box to store all the newborn clothes. It's been sealed since he was 3 weeks. So many unused clothes! And his 0-3 box is almost done for too...I have to admit I'm relieved. Newborn life was rough for me. It's getting easier now though so I wouldn't mind pumping the breaks a little too
zengal sliders and guac sounds yummy! I just switched out all of DS's outfits last night from 0-3 month to 6 month. Officially cannot get a onesie to button without a really good stretch because his torso is so long! I was tearing up, how is he growing so fast?
I do like how the LOs can interact now, that'd probably my favorite thing, seeing their little personalities. I can however wait for the crawling. Then I'll have to keep my floors clean. Haha
The smiles and giggles are definitely awesome. But I think once he is mobile, that's it, the cuddles will go down significantly. His feet are nonstop when he lays down. He always tries to 'stand' on our laps and constantly lifts one leg like he's a charging bull haha. Sooo, he will be on the run once he can .
jjh1119 - tiramisu party sounds awesomely delicious.
Re: clothes - LO is still in 0-3 size. H mentioned last night that her footed pjs were getting tight. We bathe her about twice a week and change her pjs then. I told him we could bathe her more often or put a clean pj on a not so fresh baby.
We're not watching the SB, but I'm having some friends from grad school over for a baby play date and dinner. I'm making bruschetta quinoa casserole and Mac & cheese, plus a deep dish cookie pie that is sneakily healthy. I love hosting people, so I'm really glad LO Is now old enough that I feel able to do so!
I dropped DS off this morning for his first day of daycare. I finally stopped crying after about an hour. My heart hurts
I'm sorry. It's so hard. LO isn't in care yet but I went through this with DS1, and I kept reminding myself that it's good for him to bond with other people. And it's true - it's good for babies to form bonds with adults other than their parents. But it's still so so hard. Big hugs.

All the talk of food makes me hungry now. I also am not big on the superbowl. I am however preparing for the return of The Walking Dead the following weekend. My family gets together at my parent's every Sunday for viewing it. We are a weird family lol

Something really kind of crazy happened. Last night me and DH were doing our normal pronouncing of words to Isaac. We say Mama, Dada and Hi. We usually say "can you say ___?" Then pronounce the word a few times very slowly. He will usually just coo and baby babble randomness back to us. Excepr last night,he yelled Hi back to us! He was trying very hard to copy our lip movements and it just came out loud and forced. We couldn't believe it! So we chalked it up to just a coincidence but then he did it again before bed. This morning MIL told me that he had been saying it since Monday! I don't know if it counts as his first word or if he just accidentally says it. The crazy thing is that my nephew's first word was the same and the same age.

I usually couldn't give a crap about the SB even if I tried... but my family is all from Seattle and my grandparents are HUGE Hawks fans. Last year my grandma was battling stomach cancer and the Hawks win kept her upbeat for weeks afterwards. She's made a miraculous recovery since. So, in the name of family and supporting my cancer-kicking Grandma, go Seahawks! I'll check the score on my phone occasionally, I guess. H will probably start watching it around halftime.
I'm eating ice cream and trying to figure out which version of TurboTax we need. It also looks like we will have to use H's PC to do our taxes since my Mac is too old to support this year's version. Perfect. At least he's gone most of the day so I can use his computer freely.
Re, words. I was signing with M this morning and helping his hand do "Mommy." I've been doing this with him basically since he was born. He loves waving his hands around, but right after we had signed "Mommy" he made his hand come up to his chin like three times in a row, and smiled each time I said "mommy!" So... is that his first sign or no? I'm going to have to see if he will repeat it!
