I don't see this posted yet! If anyone else really wants to be the person to start this thread, let me know! Otherwise, I'm happy to do it.
What have you been making progress on this week? What's going well? What's not going well? Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with?
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house.
I've been glazing all week, I glazed so much that I couldn't fit it all in the kiln- whoops! Firing as I type. It's a pretty short fire, only 9 hours, but, waiting for the kiln to cool enough to peek kills me- worse than a kid on Christmas.
I finished DD's new hat, she wore it today, so if it survives 8 hours of preschool, I'll take pictures this afternoon. I have a bunch of yarn left, think I'll work up a simple scarf for her with the remainder.
No snow here, and frankly, I don't want to imagine it. LOL My kids would love a snow day, though (at least they think they would- I suspect they're really wimps like me, though).
What have you been making progress on this week? I've made some decent progress on my socks, but I had hoped to have one of the pair done before February rolls around. That's not going to happen. I've also started a new project! My very first FO, a granny square afghan, has not weathered its 10+ years well, especially with two dogs in the house, so I'm ripping it apart, salvaging what squares remain in good condition and making new squares for a whole new blanket.
What's going well? I am loving the pattern that is emerging on my socks!
What's not going well? Not sure the socks are going to fit me when they're done, which means another project started and frogged. I find sizing toe up socks to be so frustrating.
Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with? Yes! My granny square blanket is so old and has picked up bits of cat hair, dog hair, and people hair through the years that don't seem to come out when washed. Any tips on how to get it as sparkling clean as possible?
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house. Knit and Netflix, obviously, though not as easy this days with the baby. I'm on mat leave, so a super snowy day might just make me feel a little stir crazy.

I'd love to see some pictures of your pottery! My mom recently converted their drive-in shed to a studio and some of the stuff she makes is amazing even though she's only been at it for a couple years. Pottery is one thing I wish I could get into. Hmm. Maybe I should look for a studio around here somewhere.
jsonya I don't know how it'll be with yarn because it may pull on it too much and make the yarn fuzzy, but I've used lint rollers on my fabric when it gets fuzzy. (I had an incident with some rather sheddy fleece)
If it pulls too much on the yarn, can you use a de-piller to maybe make it look good after using the lint roller?
Just a couple of random thoughts. I don't know if it'll help or not - I'm a fabric junkie, haven't worked much with yarn.
Loki I'll give the lint roller a try! Not sure how much it will help. The pet hair especially is worked in and tangled up in the yarn fibres pretty well. Darn kitty and his desire to sleep in comfy places.
What have you been making progress on this week? Nothing much really. There's a lot I want to make, but my goal is to organize my sewing/craft room before I sew anything more. I did get a lot done; closet, a few boxes emptied, a bunch of stuff thrown out. I even moved most of the Ikea boxes into there from the garage. It'll be a year that I've had those boxes (that contain an armoire) in another week and a half. I want to hopefully get it done by this time next week.
What's going well? Hrm. I guess my organizing is going well. Oh, and I ordered a 'basting kit' off of Amazon. I've been trying to find a quiltery grid (my mom has one and I love it), and one finally came into stock, so I snatched it up along with a basting gun and plastic tab refills. That broke my 'no new sewing things until the room is done' pact I made with myself, but for good reason.
What's not going well? There's one box in the garage still that's too heavy for me to carry. (DH was sleeping when I was moving all of the boxes in) Not 'not' going well, but I can't put it all together until I have that box (it's the main components).
Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with? Not really, unless y'all wanna come put this stuff together for me.
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house. I saw three small snowballs once!! I can't imagine what it's like to be in that kind of snow. My thoughts are with those of you who are stuck inside. Stay safe! Generally, we're stuck inside when there's a hurricane. Last major hurricane, DH and I played Uno, watched movies on my laptop until it died (power went out fairly early on), and slept.
jsonya -You can try a sweater saver/de-piller, just be really careful. The lint roller might help grab some of the sheddy parts, but, it's a risk, it can make it worse, too. Go easy.
I will get pictures of this batch! I don't have a wheel yet, so everything is slab/hand built, and I just don't feel like they're photo worthy. I love all the little bowls, though, they're so useful in my craft room to gather thread bits, pins, all the stupid little things I need random bowls for. I feel like this batch is a little cleaner, more polished, less "a middle schooler made this"- LOL
I posted the weekly checkins on the previous craft board for 2 years, so it feels kinda good to have a break and answer someone else's questions for awhile.
My progress: I've been working on a craft apron for DS. It should be a 1 hour project, but it's turning into days because I've been so busy with work lately! I'm on the final step and hope to finish it tonight!
GTKY: I live in a snowy area and I don't have any favorite snowy day activities besides staying indoors. My husband and kids like to play outside, but I'd rather stay inside and sew!
What have you been making progress on this week? I finished this week's Follow Your Arrow 2 clue yesterday (a knit shawl/wrap/whatever). I also mostly finished my first Willie sweater and started the second.
What's going well? I was able to tighten up some of my loose intarsia stitches on the Willie sweater when I wove in the ends and secure the extra yarn.
What's not going well? I say I "mostly" finished, because I haven't embroidered the little details yet. Even though I don't think I'll run out of yarn, just to be on the safe side, I'm waiting until I'm done with the knitting part of both sweaters and then decide what to do.
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? Knitting, of course! I also got a lot of writing done on my next novella yesterday, which was the first productive writing day I've had in a long time.
Do we only post WIPs here, or should we also post completed projects since last week?
Also, it might be a good idea to put the date in the thread title since threads don't have a first post date shown on the thread list, and we might end up with a million "WIP - Wed."

Completed projects welcome, I'd say! Unless people would prefer a different check-in thread for those?
Nothing super exciting with me. Still working on my blanket. This is a pic from a few days ago, so it's a bit bigger. I'm guessing I'll be working on this another few weeks. I don't really want to move onto another project till it's done, although I have so many in mind!
What have you been making progress on this week?: Still working on the Alcove. What's going well?: All of it, I guess. What's not going well?: I HATE GARTER STITCH FOREVER. It's a case of CO1. Kfb. Then you kfb on the 1st stitch and knit the rest of the row, thereby increasing 1 stitch every row. I am so.done. but I'm at 188 stitches and I need 214. It takes forever.
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house. Book + hot cocoa. Or yarn.
What have you been making progress on this week? I finally got my labels in yesterday. I finished 8 waistbands on pants and leggings last night; 3 more to do today during her nap. I'll spend the day taking photos and listing them.
What's going well? I made my first sale last week. Super stoked about that!
What's not going well? I'm having an internal battle with myself over quality of my items. I know they aren't going to be "manufacturing quality" and even the large manufacturers produce some shoddy products. I know there are going to be some small imperfections with my items because they are handmade, but that's hard for me to grasp because I'm a serious perfectionist. Will my customers understand this?
Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with? See question above.
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? Off topic. My spell check is telling me that "honour" and "favourite" ^^ are spelled wrong. #sheiscanadian
I hate winter. I'm in North Dakota and we've actually had a very mild winter this year, but I still hate it. There is nothing to do in my town, which is why I sew.
What have you been making progress on this week? Nothing really but I am trying to figure out how I am going to make a hobo bag for my sister. I have the pattern but I am just unsure of how to add pockets and a snap. What's going well? Nothing since I haven't started it. What's not going well? Motivation is seriously lacking here Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with? Does anyone want to come ands make this for me?

nutmegs I always thought the same thing (I never made clothes though). I would embroider fleece for blankets and embroider t-shirts and embroider towels and make little zippered pouches for silent auction baskets for a local school. My baskets would almost always bring in the most money year after year, but I was always worried that the quality wasn't top-notch. Guess what? DH would see the people who bought the baskets, not once did anyone say anything. They used and wore what I made. You're always your own worst critic. If you're worried, put a comment that all items are hand-made and therefore may have slight imperfections that make them the unique and to be treasured pieces that they are.

Dude, I'd love to! Bags are fun. I learned how to install snaps and pockets from designs I bought off of ithinksew. It's not too hard. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask!
Thanks Loki. I need to hear that! And will probably put a disclaimer so it makes me feel better. I guess if someone is shopping on Etsy in the first place, they (should) know they are getting handmade.
nutmegs, I am a huge perfectionist too, and it impacts my judgment of my own work too. As for clothing, I think handmade or manufactured, there is always an imperfection of some sort. Most are not noticeable unless one looks closely (such as when you fold a shirt and realize one side is slightly longer but when it is on the person, it looks great). If it looks good, then it looks good, regardless of a little imperfection.
What have you been making progress on this week? Not much due to injury, but I am trying to come up with a plan for a project in our guest bedroom. I did do a tiny bit of mending and fixed two toys.
What's going well? I think I only have one toy left in my to-fix pile (knock on wood), and that is just a simple 2-second glue job once I get more glue.
What's not going well? The guest bedroom project plan has me stumped; I keep scrapping all my ideas I have had so far. I am almost out of time.
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house. A snow day really isn't much different than most other days except if places close (stores close, activities cancel, etc), then we obviously can't do those things. We don't really have special activities we do at home just on those days that we don't do at some other time too. Maybe we aren't very exciting.
@enchanted - I'm in SoIn and we have gotten one decent snow this year and it was before Thanksgiving!
What have you been making progress on this week? I finished my cowl so it's back to the prayer shawl. I'm 20" into it and I'm guessing it should be 60".
What's going well? I'm getting faster! And everyone at work loves the cowl.
What's not going well? I'm a slow knitter and the shawl is white (church gave me the yarn) so it's boring!
Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with? Nope.
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house. I love just watching movies and hanging out with DH. We make chili and watch the birds in the backyard!
What have you been making progress on this week? I started quilting a quilt top I finished about a year ago. It's a Dresden Plate design. I was part of a quilt block of the month by mail group so I had some helpers with some of the blocks (and likewise I helped with their quilts). What's going well? Just the fact that I am getting it done at all! I am so excited that this is not lying in my to-do pile anymore. What's not going well? The actual quilting is pretty sloppy. But I am not making this for a customer, so I am not too concerned. Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with?
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house. Doing some hand sewing on the couch while binging on some Netflix. Or putting on some music and delving into a project on my craft/sewing table for hours.
What have you been making progress on this week? I've dedicated pretty much the entire week to binding a quilt. I think I'll be able to finish it tomorrow, so pics next week.
What's going well? I've only machine bound prior to this quilt. Hand binding, though time consuming, really is way nicer and with the exception of my fake it till you make it corners, it's coming along quite well.
What's not going well? I have been avoiding the cross stitch and the sock(s) to try and finish the quilt
Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with? cmeon do you know how to trow from a wheel? I have made lots of small bowls but i want to move into cups and/or large bowls. Any tips if you have them would be awesome! Also, watch auctions for a wheel. We found one with a bunch of kiln shelves for just $150. I sold the shelves to my MIL (who conveniently has and lets me borrow her kiln) for $75, so my wheel only cost me $75
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? I recently got to take DD sledding for the 1st time. I had forgotten how much fun it was. Too bad I had to send her down the hill on it, and mostly not go with her lol.
saltypearl - I am going to say yes, I know how to throw. I am about a decade out of practice, but, I think (hope) I can feel my way through. I'd love to see your little bowls- how cool that you share an interest in something your MIL does, I bet she loves that.
Sounds like you got a great deal on your wheel! I have my eye out, my "needs to be at least fairly small" requirement is knocking out a lot of my local prospects.
What have you been making progress on this week? A purple workout jacket
What's going well? I got ink, so I got a bunch of patterns printed and ready to tape and cut!
What's not going well? Me getting out of work early enough to really be as productive as I want.
Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with? Can't think of anything
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house. I just love watching movies with hot chocolate to keep me warm.

What have you been making progress on this week? A crocheted baby blanket for a friend who is due in April. I've gotten 3 rows done so far.
What's going well?
What's not going well? I think I need to restart the blanket, I didn't count right and now it's not as wide as it should be. Thankfully it won't take long - it's a quick stitch.
Questions? Is there anything we might be able to help you with? I'm hoping this board might give me the push to get back into the swing of things. Since I started back to work after my mat leave on the 5th, I haven't done much crafting cause I'm just so tired and have no time left at the end of the day/week to do anything.
GTKY: in honour of the snow storm on the east coast, what's your favourite snowy day activity? For those in areas with no snow, imagine weather that makes it difficult to leave the house. Usually, I have to work from home so I don't really get 'snow days', but if it's the weekend, I like to curl up with DH on the couch, binge on Netflix and work on whatever knitting or crocheting project is currently in progress. Or play video games with him.
I completely forgot to post my projects on Wednesday. It was my daughter's first birthday, so I was a little distracted.
I finally finished my Ship in a Bottle embroidery project for my dad (I started it over a year ago), and I finished my daughter's birthday quilt (just needed binding)! I also started and finished a Spools mini quilt and made a matching pin cushion. I feel so accomplished.
This week, I'm working on some more craft swap projects. One is the seam ripper embroidery piece I posted about a few days ago.
GTKY: It doesn't snow where I am, but I whenever my family went to the snow when I was a kid, I always made a snowman.
