The business would be great if I had time to sew. Delaney is not a fan of the sewing machine, and yesterday were told that she is fitting all of the symptoms of Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Its a rare and severe form of a speech disorder. They cant give a 100% diagnosis until she can follow directions to prove that she doesn't have muscle weakness instead (but testing wise it's pretty much been ruled out.). But with this type of disorder she will need a lot more intensive therapy up to 4 - 5 times a week, so I'm thinking of closing up shop for a while to get get caught up.
Thanks lia1303 & crunchymama11 . It was tough to hear but explains a lot. Her SLP said even with this possible diagnosis. She said that her kids with this issue generally are caught up enough to be able to.be in.a regular kindergarten but may still require speech., so it will just take more time.

Apraxia was one of the things the SLP tested with DD1. The devt pedi felt her speech delays was because she has so many medical problems as a baby- he said it was very common for babies with medical problems to be behind in speech and that as long as she was progressing in speech no matter how slowly he wasn't worried.
If my memory serves correctly (and it may not lol) D had some medical problems as a baby, yes? Can you get her eval'd by a devt pedi?

I'm not sure if we have one or not. We are seeing the Pediatric Physciatrist at the end of the month. He comes from another state as is. We may end up going back to Shriners again if we cant get any answers.
I was told that this cant just simply be a delay because it's not just that her progress is slow but that her progres is all out of order. We had a tough delivery. Her APGAR score was on the low side, but she seemed to be fine after that until We realized she was non-vocal and that there were some PT/OT issues. They thought she had a mild form of cerebral palsy due to my medical history but we had a brain MRI done and it was normal.
