Hi everyone! I primarily do scrapbooking (self professed paper junkie) and journaling. I also occasionally make bookmarks. My mom taught me some basic sewing on my old machine but that machine took a hit - literally - so I have to find a new one. I'm looking forward to learning to sew for real this time. I also really like ceramics. I used to go to a place that had their own kilns and had a great selection of greenware but they closed so for now I'm just going to those paint-it-yourself places.
I'm also on the Aug14 BMB and lurk on whatever seems interesting. I'm an IF grad, we're one & done, and LO is almost 5 months now. I'm excited to hear about everyone's projects and hopefully that'll inspire me to keep going with mine!

Hi, I have always been crafty. I put a lot of my craftiness into my wedding (bouquet, chalkboards, etc) but now I am married so I have just started crocheting and i got myself a sewing machine. I finished my first blanket. and transformed some ugly thrift store wide legged jeans into skinny jeans!! yay! I am excited to see all your creations!
Married DH 09/21/13 BCP 08/08-02/12, 01/13-08/14 Paragard 02/16-? TTC#1 August '14 1st BFP 3/9/15! EDD: 11/17/15 Emma Rose born 11/26/15 (Thanksgiving!)
I've been building stuff pretty much since I was old enough to hand my father a hammer! Woodworking is definitely my craft of choice. I'm currently working on finishing our new kitchen (hoping to have it done before the of my 1st tri), been at it since April. Tore it all down to the studs to start from scratch and basically rebuilt it from the ground up. Can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel!
This is my kind of crafting! I love woodworking and such, anything from making a shelving unit to building a whole house.
I am kind of a jack of allmost trades, master of nonefew. I dabble in many things. Most projects stem from a need or desire of some sort (i.e. made cake boards for a specialized cake I was doing for LO's birthday this past fall, made a new pillowcase for my dogs' irregular-sized pillow a few weeks ago, made a cover for my neglected sewing machine after spending a ton of time cleaning it of dust in order to make said pillowcase, currently making some play food for LO, etc). I am the go-to person for projects in my family; when someone gets an idea, I get a "Hey. Do you think you can do something like this?" call. I have had requests ranging from scrapbooks to paintings to furniture to room remodels to autobody work to jewelry and more over the years. Some projects are joint efforts (MH and I do a lot, but I also work with my dad, any one of my grandparents, etc on certain projects too and have as long as I can remember). Life has been pretty crazy lately, so I haven't had a ton of time lately other than mostly necessities, but I hope to get a bit more time soon. I have had some extra free time this week due to nursing an injury (and therefore neglecting a number of chores), so I have been checking out a few more boards on this site, and this one seems interesting. I am a regular of the SNs board and recently started posting a bit on the SAHM board.
My craft of choice right now is sewing. I tried crochet and knitting, but everything I made came out triangle shaped so forget that. I've sewn a few cloth diapers and a few different things for my babes. My favorite thing to do is make something new from something old. Upcycling rules.

I don't know if I consider myself that crafty, but I like to crochet and have been doing so for around 10 years. I tried to teach myself how to knit a couple of years ago, but I don't think I have the patience for it. It doesn't seem like you can make things nearly as quickly as with crochet, but I'm sure it's probably because I was failing epically at it.
Yay, a craft board! I'm pretty new to these boards. I lurked a lot on the other place, but never really posted much. I'm hoping to participate more here, and this board seems perfect for me!
I've been crafting for most of my life. I knit, crochet, cross stitch, sew, scrapbook, make beaded jewelry, and create various crafts for my home, family & friends.
I'm currently working on cross stitched stockings for Christmas (they were supposed to be done for Christmas last year, but I just ran out of time - I don't think DD will care that they weren't finished for her first Christmas) and I'm making a baby blanket for a friend who is due in April. Her shower is in the end of February, so I've gotta get it together!
Next up is to get caught up on my scrapbooking. I finally remembered to buy ink for my printer, so I will have pictures to put in it.
Hello, I just recently transferred over from TB. I recognize some names but not others.
2014 was not a very crafty year for me. I am hoping to do more this year.
I enjoy crafting and art making with my kids. When I'm not doing that my craft of choice is usually rug hooking. I am hoping to add spinning and embroidery this year. I would love to learn weaving or woodworking but they are too costly right now.
Hey all, I am a sporadic crafter. I crochet a lot but rarely do the finishing touches, I paint some, and stalk pinterest like a fool. Things always seem simpler online. I would love to learn how to use sew in a straight line. So glad this board is here to meet other crafters.
Hello ladies... glad to be joining over here. I'm a sewer and new to machine embroidery. I received a Baby Lock machine for christmas and I love it. Its like butter its so smooth. I've jumped head first into embroidery and appliquing and I want to make all things! I'm so glad to see a craft group over here. I'm a long time lurker of parenting and former photo reg (going way back).

I would like to get into spinning and dyeing as well!
Hi there. I like to do all sorts of crafts (I'll try anything once), but I mostly sew, crochet, and make soaps. I just got a new serger for Christmas so I'm excited about using that right now. I've been working on a quilt top for my DS for awhile now and put it on my goal list for this year.
Hi all! What a fun board! I came over from TB with my BMB (F14), I'm a SAHM of 3 (soon to be 6, 4 and soon to be 1 year old). I've been into sewing since I was a kid thanks to my mom, though I'm way more into it than she was. I just recently got a new sewing machine to replace my old one and it's totally renewed my spark for it. I've also been pinning and watching a bunch of tutorials for cross stitching. I've never tried it, but it looks so fun! I'd love to get into it when these kids give me a break
MadApple is it easiest to get a kit first and just go for it or buy supplies seperate? What would I need?
It depends how much visual aid you need at first or how much flexibility you want (colors, layout, etc). Cross stich is very easy though. It has been YEARS since I have done it, but you pretty much just put the Xs in the right spots on what is basically a grid. A pattern is pretty easy to follow, but the kits where the right thread colors are included and the image is printed right on the fabric is extremely straight forward.

rosie137 - One really nice thing about cross stitch is that the supplies are pretty inexpensive, so starting out doesn't cost you too much. There are lots of free patterns online, and if you have a craft store near you, it would be easy to get what you need.
Kits are nice if you are unfamiliar with what you need or don't want to have to get everything yourself. I get a lot of comments from my new-to-cross stitch customers that they like getting a kit so they can just get started and have everything they need.
Hi hi! I came from TB, month Aug 15, FTM. I taught myself to knit a few years back, mainly for stress relief/therapeutic reasons. I can make scarves and dishrags, then my ADD kicks in and I forget about things. I wish I were more crafty, I've been trying to teach myself to sew. Need to find a class or something, I'm a hands on visual learner. Trying to learn how to crochet too, bc I've seen the cutest patterns for stuffed animals that I must make.

I just found this board. Hi!! I have done some lurking back at TB, but I've been a member since way back before my Sept2010 wedding at TK. We moved to FB years ago. Also have a Nov12 BMB group that migrated to FB. With the latest fiasco, I came over with April15 BMB.
Crafting has been on the back burner recently, especially for myelf.. gifts usually manage to get done though. I have an etsy shop for glass etching and vinyl decals, (love my Silhouette Cameo) but scrapbooking is a big love of mine. I'm really behind at the moment though. Kids/life getting in the way. Other papercrafts (mostly cardmaking b/c I refuse to buy something I can make cheaper and easier) happen sometimes, and I do a little sewing occasionally. I have a quilt top (got stuck trying to straight line quilt it on a machine that clearly is incapable) that I've been staring at for years. I like upcyling at times as well.
I like to say I am crafty, not artistic, b/c I have no drawing or painting type of ability, but I try just about anything else. Pinterest is an awesome resource! I love browsing.

Hi everyone! I figured I would come play here since I'm learning to crochet. Normally I play on GKU but when I realized there was a craft board I couldn't help myself. I love scrapbooking, quilting, Pinterest and wine. DH and I enjoy woodworking together and building things that more often than not don't come out exactly as planned. I'm currently learning to crochet and may have taken on a bigger project that I should have for my first one. But I'll post pictures of that on Wednesday WIP. I've been stalking this board and drooling over your projects and can't promise not to steal some of your ideas.

Hello!!!
I mostly do sewing I prefer making dresses (mostly formal) to anything else. I also love to paint and do other crafts when I have the time.
Right now I'm working on a coat I've been wanting to do for a while, it's my first coat ever. I made a blazer once in school (I have a degree in fashion design) I wasn't very happy with it, so we'll see how this turns out.

Hey ladies! Coming from GKU here. I jyst started crocheting in October. I've done a few scarves and blankets so far. H told me I needed a hobby so I taught myself and here I am.
Hi there! I've been a crocheter for most of my life, but I also knit. I go back and forth between which I like better, but both are dear to me. My dad is also a knitter! I get on a cross stitch kick sometimes, but I've abandoned way more than I've finished. My current project is making blankets to donate to the hospital's infant loss program, but I've got several other things just waiting to be picked up again.
Well I've been dirty lurking here for weeks so I guess it's about time I introduce myself. I'm BB, and I call myself a "wanna-be" crafter. Mostly I upcycle EVERYTHING. I'm obsessed with chalk paint and distressing. I get a serious high out of shopping thrift stores. Oh and I may have a glassware/bottle hoarding problem....in addition to old lamps. Oh and I've started dabbling in photography.
I really want to learn to crochet. I'm making it my 2015 goal. I took a beginning knitting class once but dropped out after the first session bc I was the only real beginner & was so lost by the end of the night.
.....so hello there and thank you for already inspiring my crafty juices!

Hello everyone. I've lurked here for a few days and I'm sure I will need some advice soon, so here's my intro. I recently found out I'm pregnant and would love to start crocheting and or knitting blankets in particular. My mom made a few for me before she had me and I would like to carry on that tradition. I've never crocheted or knit before so I'm starting from square one and any advice on materials and technique are more than welcome. I've been looking at YouTube and doing some price comparisons for a few days and will hit the stores next week when I am off work for supplies. Im glad this board is here and I look forward to working on some projects with you soon.
