FYI: What they don't tell you and most people don't realize, is you can also catch listeria from fruits and veggies. But for some reason that is never mentioned as an item to stay away from. I think when I was Pregnant with DD1 lettuce was having a breakout, in the packaged lettuce.
I personally never stayed away from it, it wasn't one of those things that bothered me and my doctor never even mentioned it. With both kids I had Subway every other week if not every week. But I know that it's a hot topic with pregnant ladies. I just make sure that I'm getting my meat from a reputable source and not a place that's not clean or trustworthy.

I think I remember that recall when we were pregnant. I feel like listeria is way more common in bagged spinach and other veggies. I think my doctor also told me that soft serve/frozen yogurt was something to avoid also because of listeria (something about them cleaning the machines).
Wow flojo973, I didn't know that about the soft serve. I would eat it once every week while pregnant with DD. I think there was a cantaloupe recall too at some point.
I ate lots of jimmy johns (with sprouts!) when pregnant with DD because I was craving it anlot. I also ate cold cuts, frozen yogurt, etc. I'm such a rebel! I remember the cantaloupe listeria thing, too! I think it's just about your comfort level taking these "chances."
I avoid most packaged deli meat during pregnancy because they make my stomach turn. And I refuse JJs because DH always wants to eat there and it gives me a reprieve. I eat all the subway though.
Hi! I'm here at 32+3. Definitely starting to feel the drain of third tri, the constant need to pee, and some return of nausea. Fun!
No cravings to speak of, right now it seems that no matter what I eat, I feel full after a few bites but then I'm starving an hour later!
I am planning a hynobirth with this baby, and I am loving my classes! I actually feel really excited about labor this time. We are also meeting with a doula next week and will most likely go that route. Not that anything was necessarily wrong or terrible about DD's birth, but there are things I wish could have gone differently and I'm trying to be more prepared this time.
Is anyone here pursuing a vbac? I'm really curious about how this goes in reality..
My sister just had one about two months ago. And it was an all natural vbac, no complications or anything
Wow! If she'd be ok with you sharing I'd love to hear more about her experience, re: how she ended up with the cs the first time and what they do to deem you a good candidate for vbac, what risks she had to realize etc.
I'm super interested in this even though I don't really mind that I had a cs before but I have some worries.

How many weeks are you? 21W 1D with a boy How are you feeling? better than a few weeks ago! Just tired...getting down on the floor and back up all the time is hard work nowadays, but still I feel more agile this time than with DD. What are your cravings? mostly subs. We were "good" with DD and I never ate deli meats and was careful with cleaning fruits/veggies. Not so much this time. Anything else? I'm excited for all of the other new babies coming soon! I will be very interested to know how it goes from 1 to 2 for us and our May babies. I think DD and the dog will be harder to manage than the new baby. How does one keep up with the house after 2 kids, though? If they are not on the same routine/schedule, when do you get any housework done or personal time? Is it wrong to fantasize about not having a dog anymore? She was supposed to be more laid back 'cause she's old....
@buannie, the first time she had to have an emergency cs. She went in and everything was going as normal as it could. She got her epidural and when it became time to push, she just couldn't feel anything. She thought she was pushing and she wasn't. She thinks they had given her too much of the epidural and that's why she couldn't push. Baby's heart rate was going down so they had to do the cs.
This time she found a doctor that was good with vbacs and they came up with a plan. Basically because the cs was possibly from the epidural not allowing her to actually push, she was okay with my sister trying a vbac. However, she had a cs scheduled regardless about two days after her due date just in case. Luckily baby came on her due date and this time my sister wanted an all natural birth. One because of what had happened with the epidural last time and two, because I did it naturally and we are competitive like that lol. But everything went fine, didn't have to push long and recovered wonderfully.
The risks part, she said they went over ruptures and more emergency cs info.

I am pretty sure I would be candidate for a vbac of I wanted one. The Dr who did my CS with DD told me that it happened because her heart rate dropped and wasnt coming back up, and that it wasn't caused by "any lack of progress on my part." If I had wanted to do one, I would need to drive over an hour away to my home town to deliver because my local hospital is too small to have the staff on hand if I suddenly needed a RCS.
I am choosing to go the RCS route because I don't want to potentially give birth on the side of the interstate in December, and I have an idea of what to expect recovery wise.

Me, too!!
My sister had four vaginals births after her CS and DH has a few family members with the same. I'll see if I can get some stories to share, but they are all positive and super supportive of me having one when the time comes

kendy20 you had a natural birth? Was it as painful as you expected? How did you cope with the pain?
It was horrible but I plan on doing it again if I'm able. Now that I know how it was, I feel like I'm more prepared to handle it better. Last time I didn't take any classes on a natural birth or anything. But I loved that I was able to get right up and walk around after I had her, recovery was really fast. As far as coping with the pain, honestly I just cried :/. But this time around in going to try to relax more knowing that I am capable of doing it. Hopefully that will help me get through this one.
Eta: once it was over, I completely forgot about all the pain. I just know it was horrible, DH likes to remind me, but can't remember the actual pain.
I would love to have a natural birth but I'm terrified! I don't do well with pain. I ended up having a csection because DD was not positioned right. I think I'm going to wait as long as I can to get the epidural so I can move around and progress hopefully faster.

I had a c section but labored for 12 hour and 3.5 pushing with a vacuum with no meds. And I was induced due to some issues
Like kendy20, I forgot it quickly. and it wasn't bad until transition. But once that hit time flew. I thought I pushed 30 minutes not 3 hours. I hope to go natural with #2 once I get knocked up.
A great book to read, if you are even just fancying natural, is Ina Mays Guide to Childbirth. I felt so empowered afterwards.
kendy20, I didn't take classes either but hypnobirthing exercises helped and my friend who went natural said yoga breathing was amazing for her.

I love this thread. I had no idea we had so many pregnant ladies (since I've almost completely stayed away from the ttc thread). Congratulations everyone!!!

I totally forgot about all the stuff I wasn't "suppose" to eat when I was pregnant with DD2. Pretty much ate everything, except for cheese made from raw milk. The last listeria outbreak in deli meat was in 2002, fyi. I probably woudlnt eat a sandwich from the gas station but definitely would eat at JJ. www.cnn.com/2013/08/23/health/listeria-fast-facts/
