This morning I woke up with a radiating pain from my back, to my sides, to my stomach. I have a kidney condition that has only flared up twice in 28 years, and I just saw my kidney doctor two weeks ago -- he said everything is fine and I'll see you in 6 months!
Well, I had a trace of protein in my urine last week (a common thing during pregnancy but a tad concerning for me when protein in the urine can be a sign of things to come). Well, a week later, here we are with pain that I remember all too well.
I left a message for the OB nurse to see if they have any thoughts and/or want me to come in to get checked out.
One good thing: Baby girl is performing her usual flips. That takes the anxiety down a notch.
UPDATE: Kidney doctor is out this week but his administrative assistant hunted him down for me! He ordered an ultrasound and blood work. Waiting to find out where I'm going to get it done. Thankfully he is affiliated with the same hospital as my OB. Still hurting, but baby is still moving. Thank you all for the positive vibes!!
UPDATE 2: Welp, the kidney ultrasound came back abnormal. They aren't sure if it's off because I'm pregnant or if something else is going on. Boo hiss. I have to call in the morning to schedule an appointment with urology. For now, just relaxing and if the pain becomes unbearable, I'm to go to the emergency room.
UPDATE 3: The verdict: My kidneys are swollen (the right more than the left). They think it's being caused by LO squishing the uterers -- they go from the kidneys to the bladder. I go for a follow-up ultrasound next Friday to make sure the situation isn't progressively getting worse. I feel better today, though, so that's a plus. LO got a stern talking to on our way back from the appointment. Thank you all for the continued T&Ps!
