1st Ultrasound....solo or together?

I plan on bringing DH. I went alone to one of my anatomy scans last time around (usually, you only have one...unless there is a concern).
Well, they saw something concerning. The MFM offered to do an amnio right there...I kind of freaked out. In the end, I declined the amnio and the issue resolved. But from then on, if DH couldn't make it, I made sure not to go alone. (My mom went to one of my follow up anatomy scans).

requiressnacks. I'd say if he is able to go it might be nice for him to be there for reasons PP have already covered.

Goodness. What do they do with you for an hour?!

I mean, I think my first OB appointment was maybe 30 minutes (test including a pap - glad DH missed that one) and 30 minutes with a lectury nurse telling me how to eat and take care of myself (like I was 15...not 34).

Now that I am reflecting on it, the only thing that DH came with me to was ultrasounds. I am off on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I always scheduled OB appointments then. I have a doppler at home, so we could do the heartbeat thing whenever - although DH only listened once. Even when I went in for Verifi, I just went to the genetic counselor myself and then had the blood draw. They called and gave me the results over the phone. And then I called DH.

My first appointment was more like you describe. Lots of medical history questions, telling me basic stuff, prescriptions for nausea meds and new anti-anxiety meds and req's for blood work (done at a different place). Took my height and weight and because I had been confident on when I ovulated they said we'd skip the dating ultrasound and would book one for week 18.

I have no idea what that appointment will actually be like lol

For us, it is just a logistics thing - if my husband wants time off to be able to go to the 8 week u/s (the one I really want him to be at), he can't take off the time to go to the 6 week one. It sucks, but it is what it is. His supervisor gives him shit any time he attempts to take time off, because he is the one with the best attendance in his department.

We are in a similar boat with the time off situation. I think he's going to end up at the 8 week US and not the 6.

MH will be there for ultrasounds. He doesn't go to the regular appointments, and doesn't stay in the room when they are doing the exams, but is there for the ultrasounds that are scheduled in advance. My last pregnancy, I was told I would have two (dating and then organ/anatomy one around 20 weeks). It ended up that he was there for the dating one, and the portable machine battery died before they were finished. So he was there for the one the following week, where they re-did everything. He was there for the organ/anatomy scan, but he was not there for the last two (which my doctor decided I needed after a regular appointment). For those last two, he was at work and with the traffic, he would have gotten there by the time I was already done. So I ended up having five total, and he was there for three of them.
