The boys, now that they know, keep suggesting names to us lol they like Andrew, a and for a girl Cecilia although they agree with MH that Emily is good. Lol
I've been thinking about baby names for #2 ever since DD was born almost 3 years ago! I've been bouncing name ideas off DH for a year or so. He patiently plays along because he knows there's no stopping me.
I really like unusual... but not strange names. That's probably due to me being a teacher. I also like using last names as first names too. I also like when the middle name has meaning. For instance DD's name is Rowan and her middle name is Eleanor, which is my mother and grandmother's name.
In in my dream of dreams I would name this baby Larsen (a last name on both sides of my family). Unfortunately, my DH has vetoed that as it is the last name of his old boss that he doesn't care for. My second runner-up is Linden. As for middle names, John and Phillip are the two main contenders for a boy but not sure at all yet for a girl.
As as for pet peeves... I just dislike when people don't envision how growing up with a name will be on a school-aged child or adult. I.e.: rhyming names, awful combinations, extremely common names, etc. I think that is the teacher thing again.
Question: DH thinks I'm nuts because I don't think Emily will work for our girl since our last name is 2 syllables ending in LEY (think Bailey but not lol) what says July 16?

If you love it I think it's ok. What about other Em variations? Emma with Leigh as a middle name? Emery, Emmaline? I've seen a few Emerson girls lately, but I don't love the masculine becoming feminine names...

I would probably explore a variation or other alternatives. I think Emily Bailey sounds kind of cute, but I get your reservations.

I love love love the name Rowan but H vetoed it a long time ago ):
Dh and I decided he'd pick the name for a girl and I'd pick for a boy.
Dh has chosen Aubrey for a girl I am stuck between Alexander and Sebastian for a boy
For now I have just been calling it baby darth Vader
I would never be able to relinquish control like this. Bravo!
Im learning to compromise. We just couldn't agree on any names! He would veto all of the ones I liked and I did the same to him. Sebastian, Alexander, and Aubrey had all been vetoed at some point. I despise Aubrey but love the boy names I chose and vice verse for Dh. We both win at some point and we both lose.

I think I have a different definition of compromise.

Probably but, it works for us. At the end of the day no matter what my child is named I'll still love it the same. I seriously came up with a list of 30 girl names and Dh hated them all. He likes common every day names (Ashley, Brittany, etc) usually for girl names I am the opposite. We had been discussing names of future children for at least two years now. That being said we agreed on middle names immediately.
