Work tonight, then Saturday I am going to a bachlorette party for very good friend of mine, we will start at a girl's house for drinks and appetizers, then we are taking a party bus to byob miniature golf, then another friends bar. I am also sleeping out so DH is riding solo with DD. Sunday clean, watch super bowl
Tonight, dinner with an old friend and her babe (who is two months older than O).
Tomorrow, Dad's birthday celebration.
Sunday, we're hosting a Super Smash Bros tournament at our house (for all our geeky friends who don't do sports).
Do Canadians do super bowl parties?
Totally! Our television regulating body changed rules last year about American content so this year for the first time we'll be able to see the Super Bowl commercials live as they are. Some people are way too pumped about that.

I'm ignorant of Canadian things, sorry if I ask really dumb questions. So they used to not show Canadians American commercials? Just for the Super Bowl or all tv? I know your Netflix is different too. Is it a liscensing thing?

Quick primer (also I used to work in Telecom, so if I confuse people, let me know):
So we have the CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission) - they are the regulating body for all things telecom (including the internet).
The CRTC exists because for sooooo long Canada only had one media company (Bell Canada) and the CRTC was created to mandate competition in the industry.
So now we have a couple Canadian telecom companies (but for the most part there are only two major players, Bell and Rogers). There are a handful of large Independent Telecom companies as well.
The CRTC attempts to regulate so that all these companies can a have stake and a place in the market. That also involves mandating an amount of Canadian content be seen on TV (our national broadcaster is the CBC and they are kinda like an arms-length government department). This Canadian content rule gets in the way of a lot of television...so Canadian broadcaster when showing the Super Bowl (American content) have to ensure the Canadian content guidelines are met. So they end up showing pretty much all Canadian commercial to fill that quota.
There's a big debate right now regarding whether or not Over The Top internet providers (like Netflix) are held to the same standards. Netflix actually does try to make sure that there's enough Canadian content on the Canadian Netflix to satisfy our regulator. And our choices are different because different companies hold distribution rights to the same movie in the US. So we have Downton Abby on our Netflix!
These are just a few of the many interconnected and complex issues we face due to the history of a monopoly. It's fun.

I have a "Friday Night Worship" thing at my church tonight where I'll be singing, it's just an hour though. Tomorrow and Sunday we have nothing planned. We'll probably watch the Super Bowl but aren't going anywhere for that. It's one of those weekends where I don't want to even move or change out of pajamas to be honest.
I feel like such a loser. We literally never have plans. Our weekends consist of cleaning, grocery shopping, and going to my parents house. DS has only been out to a restaurant a handful of times. Finding stuff to do in the winter just sucks.
We actually just went to the aquarium a few weekends ago! Probably should have just gotten a pass but DH didn't think we would go enough to recoup the money. It was cute, DS loved watching all of the fish.
I've had it since maybe October? And we've gone like 6-7 times. The membership is paid in two visits here. There are Christmas shows, mermaid shows, new or traveling exhibits, and they even have sleep overs for older kids.

I'm trying to remember what our plan was. I distinctly remember my husband agreeing to something I suggested and saying we should do that this weekend but I can't remember what he was agreeing to. Pretty sure it was some kind of noxious chore. Blarg.

DH is going skiing with his sister and his parents, and DD and I are staying home for the weekend. I'm going to finish the laundry (and finally wash his smelly pillow), bake cookies, do a interest project, and get ready for our super bowl party.
Today is one of my sisters birthday dinner out. Tomorrow is DD 3rd birthday party at our place with just DH and my immediate family attending! DD asked for a rainbow party so I am decorating rainbow everything. I will try to post a few pics. Im (trying!) making a rainbow out of tule that will cascade down from the curtain rod. We'll see if it is a pinterest fail or not ; ) Sunday is super bowl at my parents and it is tradition for my Dad to make baked beans mmm Andplusalso I have a sister about to have her first baby any day so we are all in edge waiting!!!
DH is doing our taxes on Saturday so I will be bringing DD out shopping because that's all we can do in the winter! No real place in mind! Just walk around the mall I guess. We will then go to the grocery store to pick up some chili things. Sunday we will put the chili together and throw it in the slow cooker for the day. Depending on if we get snow or not we will go to lunch and the do the rest of the grocery shopping. Then we will come home, watch the game and eat lots of chili! We were invited to two different Super Bowl parties but it's right around DD's bedtime so we will just stay home and watch it together (because no one wants to babysit Super Bowl night)! I'm excited to watch it with just him! It's been years since we did that! ❤️
MH works weekends so it will be me and DS hanging out. I may try to talk my mom into taking us to brunch tomorrow. It's supposed to rain on Sunday so we will probably just hang at home like normal. Oh yeah super bowl... DH gets home at 7:30 so I am DVRing it and we're watching it together lol
It's the last weekend of bow season so I doubt I see Wayne much this weekend. Though the weather is supposed to get nasty so who knows.
For a minute there I was trying to figure out why babies only wear bows in the winter and why you wouldn't see your husband because of that. No, brain. No.
I am hoping DH can take DS for a bit this weekend so I can build our farmhouse bed. I got a new compound miter saw for my birthday last week and I can't wait to use it. Otherwise, we don't have any plans and I don't care too much about the super bowl this year.
Date night Friday with DH.....it's been a long long time and can't wait!! Chilling out in the house on Saturday and church on Sunday. Sounds like a good weekend to me.
Saturday we are doing laundry - we are so friggin' behind neither of us has much to wear. Plus I need to store DS 9 month clothes as he is now into 12 months+.
Sunday we are watching the superbowl... GO HAWKS!!!!!!!
