So I tried to nurse P yesterday. I did it on the side she's better at latching on. She did ok, but after 5 minutes she got frustrated. I don't know how to reconcile the feelings of wanting to breast feed vs. pumping and bottle feeding. I think I'm missing the "connection" from BF but it's nice to give her to Dh to bottle feed her so I can pump. I don't know what to do about it.

Do you like wearing her? That's a good way to get the closeness too. Hugs to you-- it's hard to adjust when reality is different than expectations.

Yeah I do, and I should more. I go back to work in 2 weeks and I think I should try and BF her at night.
I don't know why I kept doing that, even after I saw what a difference it made the first time around LOL. I guess I was in denial that the newborn-ness has to end at some point.
Because nursing a squish to sleep and getting cuddles and watching their cute little faces is amazing :-)

FFWC: I still nurse my 17 month old to sleep. I mean sometimes she drinks and then sticks her paci in her mouth and points to her crib. But she always gets milk right before bed.

Well I'm not sure I should complain about this one or not bc it's bound to change but DS sleeps too much. There I said it.
He literally never wakes up on his own (maybe a handful of times). Anyway we are doing ok in the weight department but they want us back for a weight check on Tuesday. I had been letting him go every 3 hours during the day and 4 hours at night but they told me 2 hours during the day and 3 to 4 max at night.
Since the funeral and all that is finally over I can really concentrate on making sure he's eating regularly. I've been pretty good about it during the day.
Last night he fed from 10:30-12. Then slept until 4 (should have woken him at 3/3:30 but didn't bc tired) then he nursed until 5 and he slept until I woke him at 8:45 and we are nursing now.
He's eating pretty good during our nursing sessions so I'm hoping he is gaining weight well and we will have a nice increase for Tuesday.
I'm grateful for the sleep, but wish he'd just wake on his own for feedings. Doctor said its not a problem so long as he's eating and I could just have a very chill baby and that's not s bad thing.

Well if that's the case take that SIL haha
Has he had his bilirubin checked? L was like this and had to be readmitted to the hospital for jaundice. He was also very yellow and even the whites of his eyes were yellow. Don't want to freak you out but just wanted to let you know my experience!

P was/is the same way. She slept all the time. I woke her for every feed for at least 2 weeks. It's stressful having to feed every 2 hours. Hang in there!

I was concerned about this too, they said he was on he high end of normal at the hospital and at his first check up he was looking much better and they weren't concerned. The yellow coloring has mostly faded and looks better each day. But yes that was a concern for me at least initially even though they said everything was fine.
I'm stressing over milk supply. I've been taking domperidone and I was unsure if it was helped. I swear I packed it but I can't find it anywhere. I'm not pumping as much as I had been, and I only brought 8 oz of extra milk and no formula. There is no way we can get to the store. I'm going to pump every 3 hours and hopefully get ahead.

DD was not like this all (cue the 'every baby is different mantra') and she ate constantly. Cluster fed, ate on demand every 1.5 hours, cried for food, etc...
It's hard not to be concerned but I guess everything is fine and I'm glad we are going in on Tuesday for a weight check.

Stressful. Maybe add in an extra pump session or do every 3 hours. Hope you're hanging in there and the kid's routines aren't getting too messed up.

Q slept all night! P was up at 12 and5. It wasn't too bad. I'm going to stick to every 3 hours. My boobs hurt!
Just another perspective on the sleep/eating thing (mostly for surfmama106 since I know P has a more unique situation!) I'd say just go with it for now. Let him sleep when he wants to, and then really make sure he gets a full feeding in when he is hungry. Cy was sleeping a ton in the first few months and then he started wanting to eat allllll the time. Things will balance out. Mention it to your pedi just so they can help you track patterns and offer other suggestions if needed. Try not to worry- most of the time things will correct on their own over time.
I'm gonna loose it over pumping. Im stressing that it's not enough. I'm pumping barely enough for the next feed. And f the pump. My nipples are so sore and blistered.

Hope I'm not out of line, but would it be ok to just do formula?

Yeah we've done formula in the past...except I didn't bring any with us to pa and we can't get to the store. I have 8 extra ounces in the freezer. That's the only back up.

Oooohhh gotcha!! Maybe you have oats or fenugreek on hand- try all the milk boosting things!!
Another sleepy baby mom chiming in - if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have woken her up in the middle of the night to feed, and would have waited for her to feed/pushed her day feedings closer together to get up to the 8/day minimum. I worried way too much over it until her 2 week appointment, when she made weight, and then we never woke her up again.

They pushed me in the hospital to feed every 2-3hrs. As soon as we went home I let her tell me when she was hungry. Sometimes it was 4hrs between feedings and sometimes it was 3hrs. We always made weight. I'll do the same for 2.0 unless he isn't gaining. They know when they are hungry.

Well I've basically been force feeding this poor kid during the day. I'm producing a shit ton of milk and I will not have supply drop or cave to the pump until I have to for work. Tonight I stayed up with DH to watch a movie and didn't get into the bedroom until after 12. Then he decides to start fussing and doesn't want to sleep in the RnP. I was in such pain from getting up and laying down over and over that I was like fuck it. He's not hungry we nursed for like 30 min of constant eating, so I swaddled the shit out of him and put him in the crib. He slept from 1-2:30 and woke on his own then from 3-6:30 and I woke him to eat/change etc. We are finishing up out nursing session now and back in the crib he will go. I feel better about it already. Here's hoping for another 3.5 hours of sleep and DH getting up with DD so I can rest!

Question about bath products for newborn baby? We just lost our umbilical chord and I'm ready to get in there and wash this baby. With DD I used Johnson & Johnson but I wanted something organic. Should it be unscented? I can't remember?

Honest company? Babyganics? California Baby?
I alway used Baby Bee or Angel Baby on DD until last week when we had to switch to Cetaphil. Her skin is just way too sensitive that with the dry weather it's a bad combo. :/

We use Burts bees. She doesn't have sensitive skin though.
