I like the daily thread, I find them easier to follow and digest. I'd be fine with every other day as well, like the weekend one. My UO is outdoor/indoor cats. One of my coworkers annoyed me the other day talking about how it is cruel to keep cats indoors. My cats are perfectly happy, thank you. They sleep, they eat, they play with each other and us... There are coyotes and fisher cats around here, not to mention cars. I just can't be relaxed about the circle of life when it comes to my pets. I don't judge the outdoor cat thing, I think some cats are basically wild animals that come home for food, but I would worry way too much about mine.
Maple syrup? My pee has never smelled like maple syrup but that made me lol. I'll admit it makes my pee smell funny, but not like maple syrup!
If that's what your maple syrup smells like, you're getting the wrong stuff.
Apparently being able to smell asparagus pee is a genetic thing. Not everyone can. This blows my mind
Okay if it's a genetic thing then that makes me feel better, because I'm not lying, it totally smells like maple syrup. Although admittedly probably like Mrs Butterworths, not the good shit.
vivela, your UO would be popular with my cat. He is an indoors cat and sucks it up for all its worth. He gets to venture out in our backyard if we are out there but he doesn't like being out there by himself. He's a giant 22lb baby of a cat.
I've had cats in the past as you describe, more like wild creatures, and were outdoor/indoor cats, but really it's so much safer for them to be 'kept' inside.

I want your genes, because I love maple syrup and that is NOT what my asparagus pee smells like. If only.

My cat would basically act out a scene from a great Shakespearean tragedy if I didn't let her outside. She loves it, and is very vocal and dramatic. No peace for anyone when we don't let her out. I bet your co-worker has a cat like mine and that's why she assumes indoor-only is cruel. She's missed the memo about diversity in kitty opinion.
I think my uo hardened yesterday in randoms. Looks like I'm the only one uncomfortable with unisex changing rooms. I've calmed down about it but I still will be avoiding them.
As for activities, I feel like tumbling is most fun for younger kids and want to give my children a chance to try it. I'll also be putting them in scouts in kindergarten. I doubt over-scheduling will become a problem but it's certainly something to keep an eye on.
I'm not really a sports person either. My husband really enjoys baseball and football and the occasional basketball game but he always records the games and watches them after DD goes to sleep. On big game days though I always tell him he can have it on but he usually still watches later which is nice!
athn64 I started ballet at 3 or 4 too and then picked up tap and jazz and ended up dropping ballet. I agree if DD expresses an interest in something like that I would let her but I think one thing at a time is a good rule!
The maple syrup thing reminds me of a popular supplement I had to take when I had trouble with low supply breast feeding. Your skin is supposed to start smelling like maple syrup when you are at a dose that starts 'working'. But it never worked for me (nothing did) and what I remember most is being so upset and thinking 'why don't I smell like f-ing maple syrup'.

You know, I think I'm with you. I do a lot of swearing and sighing and grumbling in changing rooms. I feel like other women get that but a nearby male would not. I guess places like the gap and old navy have unisex changing areas now that I think about it. Maybe I just keep my grumbling to a minimum there. Hmm.

I am sure this UO will get flamed, and I am sorry because I know it sounds judgy. I am against crying kids with santa pictures. Remember - i work im sexual assault prevention, treatment, etc... I teach people everyday, and feel in my heart, it is wrong to make kids sit on the lap (or hug or kiss) ANYONE they do not want to. And then to take a picture? Heck no. It is their body and from day one we need to teach them healthy boundaries and that THEY are in charge of who touches it.
I'm with you! I'm highly allergic to them so I'm sure that colors my opinion, but I'm much more of a dog person.
I am in the no cats list as well. Don't like them but not against people who do we had them growing up and every single one would just pee on things when they were mad like mad that you left the house or something silly. We changed the litter like every day and still. My old roommate wanted to bring her cats when she moved in with me and I said as long as they stay in your room when you are gone but she never listened to that and they ended up peeing on my stuff. I also found out I was allergic when my lungs started closing about a month after she brought them. The doctor had me on some steroid to keep them from closing. So no cats in our house and I can't stay over anywhere with a cat without my inhaler.
In summary: It's not that they aren't cute I just have had bad experiences and now I'm allergic. Oh and still like cat people just not a cat person myself

Ok I've got an interesting UO. I'm really intrigued by placental encapsulation and I don't find it gross or weird.
This opinion shocks me because I am probably the least crunchy mom I know. I'm not sure where this feeling is coming from.
I'm liking this because I'm the total opposite, weird and gross and it makes zero sense to me! But I love that there are people out there with totally different opinions than me!
I saw my placenta with my last baby and there is no way in hell that thing is coming near my mouth in any form.

I was always really interested in this but the last couple of things I have read about it have shown no real proven benefits. It kinda bummed me out!!!

Oops! Sorry about my pic earlier! I promise he only sat there for 10 seconds before I rescued him, not even enough time for the photographer to get an actual pic! I totally see what youre saying and it makes sense! Sadly, my son was saying "ho ho ho sit lap!" Until the second we put him up there!
When I was on F16 for a brief time, they did daily "ticker change" check-ins. I thought it was kind of fun to always have a smaller check-in with the same people. For example, since my ticker changes weeks on Thursdays, I'd participate in the Thursday ticker change. Just another thought.
