EBF mamas...how often is LO eating during the day?

So, LO will be 13 weeks on Sunday.  He is EBF and is still eating about every two hours during the day, maybe three if I'm lucky.  I EP'ed with my first LO, so it was a little different last time around.  How often are your LO's going between feedings now and how old are they?

EBFing here. Still about every 2 hrs with the occasional 3 hour. But she sleeps well at night so I'd rather her eat during the day and Eve.

Ok. Since we mostly bottle fed last time, I feel like she was going longer between feedings by now. Maybe not though. Sounds like two hours is still pretty normal though.

My baby is 10 weeks and she is really variable. It's averaging 2 hours between, but sometimes there's a long nap, and sometimes she only waits an hour!

Isaac is 13 weeks will be 14 on Wednesday. He is still eating ever 2.5 hours. Although today he has been sleeping quite a bit.

Mine is 13 wo on monday. He eats every 2.5-3. I get longer intervals earlier in the day. He sometimes gives me 4 hours at night but usually no more than that.


ETA he was only going every 2 hours a few weeks ago, so it's improved.

Mine is 10 weeks and still eats every two hours with one three hour stretch at night, sometimes I'm lucky and get 2 three hour stretches at night but not normally. He still sleeps a lot during the day no matter how I try to keep him awake, I have basically given up snd figure he will sleep when he needs to sleep and will eventually figure out the nights

spikesmom Keeping him up during the day won't help him sleep at night, it does the opposite. They just have to grow into longer stretches, and some do it quicker than others.

I actually heard that too @ tacocat. The better they sleep during they day means the better they sleep at night. I wasn't sure if it had any truth to it because I've been getting so much advice from everyone.

My LO will be 13 weeks Super Bowl Sunday and eats every 2.5-3 hours. She doesn't sleep well at night and wakes up every 3 hours. It's so aggravating and frustrating when people tell me to keep her awake during the day to make her sleep better. I try explaining that sleep begets sleep, just like what tacocat said, but they don't listen. Sigh.

It's true. Besides you don't want to keep them up, if they need to sleep, it's for a reason.

Ask them if you should wake them in the middle of the night so they'll sleep better during the day....the answer is no. Same goes for the other way around.

Yes, I have figured that out after a few attempts to keep him awake longer between naps and the resulting bad sleep at night. I gave up after just a couple of days and have just been letting him do his thing and he does sleep at least one 3 hour stretch and I know he will sleep longer when he is ready! I just try to enjoy the MOTN snuggles while they last

spikesmom I have a "bad sleeper"...I've tried it all. He doesn't even like to sleep during the day. Once I just accepted it, it got better..one day at a time whoosaw

Dd eats every 2-3 hours during the day, and will often cluster feed in the morning and then take a 3.5-4 hour nap. She usually does a 5 hour stretch at night then 3 hour stretches. I'll be interested to see how she shifts her schedule when at DC in two weeks.

Add me to the bad sleeper club. I got a little ragey when someone was humble bragging about how their LO slept through the whole night. Must be nice.

I keep telling myself this will pass and she'll get better at sleepint, but then a coworker told me today that her son (22 months) STILL doesn't sleep through the night and gets up every 3 hours.

Are you frickin kidding me?? Then you have neighbor on the other end of thr spectrum who has a 20 month old that sleeps 12 hours every night. I'm praying my LO is the latter.

I could be wrong, but I kind of feel like part of this has to do with sleep training.  My two year old DD is one of those kids who sleeps 11 or 12 hours a night.  I'm sure she does actually wake up, but she knows how to put herself back to sleep because we trained her to do that.  We have friends who did no sleep training.  Their kids are older than ours and still get up at night.  I'm sure there is more to it than that, but I do think sleep training (not yet for our LOs, but eventually) does help.

HutterFlutter nothing is worse than a humble brag about sleep. Because it is the luck of the draw, nothing more. I have a friend with a 6 mo who sleeps 10 hours, but she sleep trained in a method I'm not interested in using so meh.

My 8week LO gets feed every two hours during the day unless she cries for it sooner. But she sleeps a lot at night and will easily go eight or nine hours and then another three. I feed her so much during the day to make sure we hit at least 8 feedings. She also tends to cluster feed in the evening so that's more like every 60 or 90 minutes.

My LO is 10 weeks and still eats every 2-2.5 hours. Is mine the only one who cluster feeds every night still? Starting at about 5 until 10 with a break for bath. I just park on the couch with a TV tray, snacks and water. It's been this way since week 3 and hasn't stopped. They say it is to fuel up at night but our first "long" stretch is 3-3.5 hours then up every 2.
I am in the camp of let baby eat when hungry and sleep when tired at this age. They are still so little and growing is hard!

During the day LO is eating every 2.5 to 3 hrs still. As I look at it though DS1 still eats that often and he's 2! Breakfast 8ish, snack10ish, lunch 12ish, snack 3ish, dinner 630ish.... I think we notice it more as babies because we are there the whole time verses I can give my toddler crackers and cheese and still get the dishwasher loaded.

Mine is almost 13 wo and he still cluster feeds at night in the sense he takes both sides and he eats twice in the 3 hours before bed. But no more long stretches of just feeding. This started at about 11 weeks. Libby

Good thread as I was wondering what was considered "normal." LO is 10 weeks old, EBF and is all over the place. She eats anywhere from 1-2.5 hours. Tends to cluster feed more in the early afternoon. She goes a 5 hour, then 3 hour stretch most nights.
I'm trying to wrap my head around how much I have to pump when I go back to work. Even if she eats every 2 hours, that's a lot of time pumping!

 We did Ferber.  We started soon after she was six months old.  She does go through periods where she will wake up and not be able to get back to sleep on her own, but it is always because of teething or a cold or something like that.  But, for the most part she is very consistent.

DS is 12 weeks and eats about every 2 hours during the day when he's with me and about every 3 hours at daycare. In the evenings it's more like every 1.5 hours.

I didn't mean to come across that way, jessa1228, and it wasn't your post that I saw. Actually, I'm glad at least some of you ladies can get decent sleep. Like tacocat said, it's the luck of the draw.

It's just that seeing posts like that remind me I'm not one of the "lucky ones". And there's really nothing I can do about it. No hard feelings.

Every 2.5 - 3 hours. Sometimes 4 if she naps long. She sleeps at night from 8:30 / 9 to 3 / 4
