TnT10, That's exactly what we had. Samples from similac and enfamil. Those were clutch when I got listeria when K was 2 weeks old, and God himself wasn't removing me from the bathroom.
harlowjune1984, I would love to blame the no tub situation on someone else. But MH actually removed all the tubs when he took over the house from his parents, which was before I even moved in. So it's all his fault.
Yes. The actual tub is a waste. I just used the mesh seat in the sink or regular bath tub.
This makes me jelly of people with bath tubs. There's three bathrooms in my damn house, 2 standing showers, and no bath tubs. So obviously, we needed the bath tub here.
That is so weird! What's the plan when your kids grow out of the infant tub? Straight to showers.

It's either that or the garden hose and a kiddie pool.
MH will be done with residency in a year and a half and we'll be moving, but I just. Can. Not. Wait.

I know there was someone on GKU who was raised or raising their kids without tubs. They just showered and said it was nbd. I still prefer the option of a tub, but it's do-able apparently.

Sometimes when I'm being lazy I just sit on the floor of the shower with my dd, wash her, and hand her off to her father. So it's not horrible or undoable

Everyday when I'm lazy I sit down to shower myself haha

I do this with DD sometimes! I don't know how people do that while holding the babies, I feel like it's like holding a bar of soap that's waiting to slip out of your hands! No thanks, I'll just sit!
Ray, That's the only way legs get shaved in this house.
TnT10, Like standing up and showering with a baby? No way. They're like eels. Like eels that are always attempting to do some type of crocodile death roll.
My top two baby gear items are the rock n play and the playmat with the kick piano. Dd1 would be occupied on that thing for a 20-30 minutes at a time so I could do laundry or wash dishes/bottles.
- PnP: DD roomed in with us for the first 4 months and we had her in the bassinet attachment at first and then when she got heavier we had her in just the regular PnP.
- Miracle Blanket: DD was an expert Houdini with the swaddle. It was the only way we could keep her swaddled.
- A&A blankets: So good for multiple things, light weight, even though DD was a winter baby I know they will work in the summer too.
I'm sure some more will come back to me but I have had way too many sleepless nights in the past 4 years to remember more now!
Anyone who buys a used car seat, make sure you check the expiration dates. The foam deteriorates over time. The one we used for DD and DS is now too old. *womp womp*

This and be careful where you buy. Unless you are 100% sure that car seat has never been in an accident, I'd advise to spend the extra money on a new one.

This. The ONLY reason we bought one used was because it was my sister selling it so I knew when it was bought, where it had been, and how it had been used.

I used my sister's now expired infant seat last time, so this time we will buy new. I am as cheap as cheap comes but I wouldn't buy a used seat from a stranger for the same reasons people gave. But used swing/highchair/clothes? Heck yes.
We loved the mamaroo. I was very sad when she grew out of it. I think she was, too. But I am thrilled that I get to use it again. Pricey, but worth it and you will be surprised what people will get you off of a registry.
I also recommend the angelcare monitor. I just felt so much better knowing that her breathing was monitored. DD slept next to me in the PNP for the first few months, but this time I think I am just going to do the crib from day one so I can use the monitor. I slept so much better knowing that the monitor was on.
The aden & anias blankets are amazing.
I loved my Ergo, Moby and Mai Tai wrap. Moby was super helpful the first 6 weeks. The Ergo is probably most used out of the group. I just wish I had returned it and gone for the then brand new 360 one. DD likes to be able to see.
I loved having the travel system - I do not want to be taking a sleeping newborn out of the bucket to go into the grocery store.
A good stroller. I had a decent stroller with DD that came with our travel system (Chicco Cortina, I think). I saw the fancy strollers that cost $400 and thought why does anyone need that. And you don't need it, but damn, there is a difference in those strollers! I scored a BOB Revolution SE on clearance for $115 at target this summer and it is amazing. I would not pay full price for one because I just don't have that kind of a disposable income at the moment, but I would throw it on the registry and start looking at craig's list.
Things that were unnecessary: We never got the wipe warmer and we all survived without it. Also, the nursing covers. DD hated when I tried to use them. If I was out and nursing, I either found someplace relatively private or used an A&A muslin blanket. Anything more that that muslin and it was like the 7th layer of hell for the heat factor under there.

allison7, Did you have any issues with the motor or anything on the Mamaroo? I seem to be seeing a lot of mixed reviews on it. We had the Fisher Price Snuggabunny swing, and we loved it. After she was done, there was no room to store it, so I let it go through three family member's babies...and it finally died. Even though we are in a bigger house now, part of me would like to get something that is easier to move from floor to floor (or house to house when we are on vacation or have to send the kids to the IL's). The FP one would be a nightmare to move. I know that there are a lot smaller swings, but I am biting the bullet and going to order it from the 4Moms website (apparently if you order it directly from there, they have a better policy for fixing if there are issues). I just ordered the infant insert last week. Our Pack'n'Play also went to crap, so we are going to get the 4Moms Breeze as well. I have this weird love for fun baby gear...... lol!

harlowjune1984 I am seriously jealous about 4moms Breeze. That thing looks amazing and so easy to open and shut. We aren't doing pack and plays this time or I'd consider getting two!

Our other one was okay, but it was a pain moving it and traveling with it. We never ended up using the changing table feature (which I thought I would use a lot). I ended up having it at my IL's and my teenage nephew went to his dad's house for a few nights and then came back, put his bag inside the pack'n'play (since it was in the room where he was staying at my IL's). Well, his dad's house smells like cat piss, so the bag came back smelling like it, and now we cannot get the smell out of our pack'n'play. If the pack'n'pkay didn't smell like that, I would just suck it up and use it again for this kid.
I have heard that the Breeze is heavier than most pack'n'plays, but the fact that it is an easy open/close, I will suck up the additional weight....
harlowjune1984, MH has been BEGGING me to get the 4moms breeze. I'm not sure why he's more into baby gear than I am, but I keep telling him unless our current PnP spontaneously combusts it's not happening. Maybe if you say it's the second coming I'll be convinced, haha.

I would say "Sure, I will go get one. As soon as you put a tub in one of the bathrooms....."
ETA: At least your husband is somewhat into baby gear. I cannot even get my husband to discuss it. With the first kid, I tried, and he knew that after decades of being a nanny and using tons of gear.....I had already had my mind set on a lot of items. So I would try and find my top two, and bring him to check them out and get his input on which he liked better, and he was always like "ummm....it doesn't matter to me. Get the one that you like the most...." I ended up not even bringing him with me when I registered, because I wouldn't get any input out of him. The closest Buy Buy Baby is over an hour away and we decided to stop by there on the way home from Seattle in Nov, because I wanted to show him the infant seat I was interested in, and see what he thought of it. I had him hold it, and he just said "feels like an infant seat to me.....they are all pretty much the same in my eyes...." So I see a repeat of the same thing happening as before. Which means I will just pick what I want, order it, and he wont even be phased when the boxes start arriving....lol

Ignore the cheesy baby at the beginning and just watch the second half. youtu.be/VhLgTs9EuQY This makes me want to get one so badly!

We're probably going to be moving in the next year and a half so I try not to obsess on the tubs, .
But If you want to timeshare MH for all decision making requirements you can have him because he's the exact opposite. I'm actually the completely laid back one who doesn't really care, while MH agonizes over stuff like this. I can't tell you how often Mh will try to get me to choose between two nearly identical things and the conversations always go like this:
MH: okay, this one or this one? Me: Doesn't matter. Whichever you like better. It's all the same to me. MH: ::explains the nuanced difference between two things:: so now what do you think? Me: that one. MH: oh, that one? Why not this one? Me: ::eye twitching::

TheTuna15, HAHAHA! I think we have gotten to the point, after all of our years together, and when it come to anything household or kid related, I don't ask for his input. When it comes to vehicle or electronics, he doesn't ask for my input. We just let each other know what we are on the market for, so the other person isn't shocked when it shows up in the house, or the other person can say "I think we should wait X more months before we make that purchase." But when it comes to the little details....we leave it in the hands of the person that cares the most about it.
harlowjune1984, I've tried so hard to make that happen. But nope. He NEEDS my input apparently. After so many years, I kind of just groan and grudgingly go along with it. Thankfully, it's toned down since we had DD. Not as much time to agonize over details.
A coworker brought to my attention today that maternity underwear exist and I will need them. STM+ moms - for reals? I was hoping to just buy normal XL underwear or something. Please advise lol

I wore my normal underwear my entire pregnancy. I feel like maternity underwear would fall down? Give a pair a shot, but definitely don't feel like you need to replace all of your underwear lol. Marketing scheme!

Uhm. No? Haha. I didn't know they existed and I never bought bigger underwear for my first pregnancy. I guess maybe if you wear bikini style or something with a tighter waistband you may need to size up. But all I own are low rise thongs with lace waists and I never had an issue with fit.
