My RE cleared me for yoga as long as I am careful and don't overdo it. I'm pretty nervous about doing something I shouldn't and hurting myself. The studio I usually go to is donation-only and prenatal yoga classes in my area are pretty expensive... but I wonder if it's worth it for a routine I know is safe during pregnancy. I much prefer a class to doing it at home with a video, but maybe that's what I need to do. Thoughts?
I don't do straight yoga but have done barre3 (ballet/yoga/conditioning combo) this entire pregnancy. I've just been taking the regular (non-prenatal) classes but the instructors have been good at helping me modify some of the moves. I think sumbeach has been doing non-prenatal yoga this whole time. So I say go for it!
I do Iyengar yoga and have been for years. All the instructors know how to handle and modify for pregnant people. I've done yoga with all 9 pregnancies and never had a problem. I can't do prenatal yoga because it's the opposite of what my body needs. Prenatal yoga tends to really open your hips.
I would talk to the instructor wherever you go now and see what they say.

nikiswimr is right. I did power yoga until almost 30 weeks, then I switched to non heated power & gentle. Yoga is really the only thing I refused to give up. We have multiple teachers who have been pregnant recently so they helped me modify but I could do almost everything without modification. I did eventually stop going to the studio because my BP was very low and my dr wanted me to slow down.(Plus it's $$$) I have some great DVD's I use at home. Radiant Pregnancy & Vinsaya Short Forms. I got both off amazon. If you had a strong practice before there is no reason to worry.

Grad lurking...
bocaburger Not sure if we're in the same area, but let me know if you want me to PM you the name of my yoga studio. The prenatal instructors were all certified, and fantastic.

In my area I ran into the same issue. I ended up finding out that the hospital I'm delivering at offers classes along with other labor, breastfeeding and parenting classes. Try asking your OB or looking up the hospital if they have any recommendations. I would be worried someone not offering prenatal yoga specifically wouldn't know not to overdo it. Just my .02.
