A late weekly check-in! 1/20

What did you all do for the long weekend? C and I went to California to visit my parents. We had so much fun, but I'm starting to realize that Seattle is truly home. I almost never want to leave it anymore, and I can't fathom moving back to California, no matter how much my BFF tries to entice me with job offers at her husband's company

My dog is doing so much better! I think he was just stiff from overexertion from running. We'll have to take it easy on him and set limits from this point on, since he clearly doesn't know when to stop himself. Thanks for all of your healthy vibes!

I'm at a conference tomorrow and Friday, and then we're off to Portland for the weekend to celebrate my birthday (which is on Monday). I sort of wish I hadn't planned quite so much stuff for this month, but I did want to celebrate #dirtythirtyone with something bigger than dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (which was what we did last year).

ladyannibal 2016 is going to rock, hopefully! I'm sorry you guys are having issues with your mom Hopefully you can find a new place for your little family!

Hello ladies! How all is well.
All is well here, Vera is 16 lbs 3 ounces! And cute as can be, we are getting snow so we are going stir crazy.

ladyannibal - 2016 is going to rock like no other year has rocked before!

I'm feeling a lot better! Haven't had any more food reactions, and I'm hoping that when my 30 days of eliminating brassica vegetables are up I won't have too many issues. I like so many things in the brassica family, but it's not worth it if I'm going to have stomach issues like that!

This last weekend was super busy. Saturday I had work and then a friend's birthday party. Sunday I saw a production of Medea at a theater I'll be working with in the spring. And Monday I got my hair cut! I'm not going to post a picture of myself, but it looks a bit like Daisy Ridley's hair now (the actress who plays Rey in the new Star Wars.) It had been roughly mid-back. I always forget how much I love having it short!

Tonight MH and I are taking a snowshoeing basics class at REI. We're going to the mountains for Valentines weekend, so we're hoping to be prepared to go snowshoeing!

toratoratori, I'm glad your dog is better! Have a great birthday weekend!

missjenniebean, have you had a lot of snow? Ours has been pretty light lately, which is perfect. I hope you can get outside and relieve that cabin fever soon!

Not a lot inches wise, but my town for some reason doesn't treat the roads, so they get slick and icy

As for me, I'm 27 weeks today. Hitting the homestretch. Can't believe G will be 2 in May!

missjenniebean, icy roads can be so scary! Here, most of the roads get plowed well, but over the holidays I was cat sitting for a friend and her apartment complex was the worst! I'm not sure a plow ever touched the driveways and parking lots there! It made me even more thankful for the neighbors I have with snow blowers, since even if the plows don't get to my street the neighbors typically will make it passable.

lecky11, do you have any snowshoeing tips? From what I hear it's pretty straightforward but I'd love any advice you have! Most of the people I've talked to do it a lot, so hearing from another snowshoe noob would be nice!

I went on a field trip in 5th or 6th grade, so it's been awhile. I do remember at first trying to walk normally which you can't do of course. It's more of a high step. I'm sure you'll be fine if a bunch of 10 and 11 year olds can do it!

I'm sure we will get the hang of it! I just haven't really done any winter "sports" .... Ever. Never skied or snowboarded. I rode on the back of a snowmobile once when I was in 3rd grade. But mostly I just know how to throw snowballs! So, like the over-researcher I am, I'm over preparing!

Yeah for some reason my county doesn't plow and when they do they don't do it well. Whenever you cross the county line there is a 100% difference in the conditions of the road. Hehe we are in Ohio and my part was originally suppose to get hit bad this weekend but the storm spared us but attacked more south! Mother Nature is unpredictable.

Good news guys! V now weighs slightly more than 16 lbs but I contribute that to her love of eating finger foods. She actively wants it and gets mad if she sees us eating without her. So funny. My lil 8 month old wants to be a big girl too soon!

missjenniebean, that's awesome that she's becoming a good eater! And I'm glad you didn't get hit by the storm too much. I have friends in VA, and their pictures of the snow are insane! I think where they are they got close to 3'!

bonzo2012 I know! I have friends all over who are posting pics on fb that you can only see their car radio antenna. Idk what I would be doing if I woke up to that much snow! It's so crazy.

I hope her willingness to eat sticks and she doesn't become a picky eater!
