I would have never gotten this puppy if I could have looked into the future. He's ok but this potty training shit is getting so old I can't even handle it!!! Our old dog we had potty trained in 3 days. This dude is NOT getting it and I'm about to lose my effing mind
That's the worst. I think Harlow took like 3 months to get to a point where I didn't want to accidentally leave the door open without her wearing her tags. Are you crating him? In an ideal world, having the dog tethered to you helps to be able to notice the quirks that preceded potting. Hope he gets his act together quickly!

See that's the thing we ARE crating him and he is having most of his accidents IN the crate, so then he lays in it and it's like he literally does not care! We have the divider in it, toys in it, no blankets, everything we are supposed to do. So I'm basically giving him 3 baths a day. Ain't nobody got time for this!

Have you tried just leaving him in a room instead of the crate? We had more success giving our dog space when we were gone. She hated the crate. We used baby gates to keep her in the kitchen and it worked out much better.

Ugh! That really sucks. Hope he gets his act together asap! With Harlow, we had to remove every thing from her crate and put her on a schedule (so easy when you have little people in the house :sarcasm face: ) but the turning point with her was when we left her to go on vacation. She came home and realized what a home ment (she was a research dog then lived in the kennel at school) she still slips up now and then.
mightybee ,um I totally recycle the milk cup for Coco. Never thought twice about it. no shame in that game.
Oh me too... If she only has a small amount left in the cup sometimes I'll top it off with more milk and put it in the fridge for the next morning so I can just tell her to go get it from the fridge herself. Sometimes she'll say "How did that get there?" and I'll reply "Magic!"

Well then based on this thread I think I'm actually the one with the confession...If you have your lights up past New Years I'm judging. If it's more than a week into Jan I'm judging hard. (My H would make it mandatory to take them down on Boxing Day if he could).
We put up lights and get a real tree and do the whole bit...but once Christmas is past I'm over it. Ready to move on.
Oh, and we TOTALLY re-cycle half-drunk milk cups. If I threw out all the milk every time Ingrid took three sips and said she was done I'd be in the poor house buying milk.
I guess my confession is that I toss half cups of milk. Although I guess my real confession is that P will still only really drink chocolate milk (a little hershey's in it). The chocolate just provides enough sugar for the bacteria to boom. As a former microbiologist I can't put it back in the fridge knowing what could be growing in there.

Good to know. Although if J gets chocolate milk (thanks gpa for getting her to like it... Grrrr) there's never any left to save. She chugs it.
We reuse milk cups. We also reuse water cups for days and days and days. Like sometimes I'm not even sure how long she's been drinking out of it. She doesn't like cold water and she takes it to her bedside table at nap/night then picks it up again in the morning and I don't usually think about it. Is this confession worthy? Is single use water cups a thing?
We don't reuse milk cups, but that's only because my kids suck down milk like someone might steal it from them. We do reuse water cups. They are usually around for a few days before we wash them.
I don't reuse milk cups either. My kids go through milk like it's going out of style so there's not usually much of anything left. I've had too many leftover milk cups spill all over the fridge. If there's any left it gets dumped.
justbeth , eventually a water cup might grow fungus in it. It depends on your water but not bacteria usually. I would say about a week is all I would go. But I'm paranoid about that and I've definitely found some fungal growth before in a cup that rolled under the couch. Milk is just prime for bacteria growth and warming it up gives it time to grow. E. coli's doubling time is about 20 minutes so if it gets too warm (room temp) for longer than about 20 minutes you have doubled the bacteria that were in there.
Just FYI, not trying to sound like a know-it-all, and again we are both microbiologists/biochemists so we are in the boat where we know too much about it.
If D doesn't eat all of the yogurt I make him (so plain yogurt mixed with mashed banana and honey), I put it in the fridge to eat the next day or to add to a smoothie.

I guess I'm amazed at people with kids that don't eat/drink their milk or yogurt in one sitting. Riley inhales both!
My FC (WC) is that we still give Riley her milk in a sippy. She likes to drink it on the couch sitting next to me or my H right before bed and I still don't trust her not to spill it everywhere. We should probably get on the whole cup thing, huh?

We still do sippy cups too for milk. For water and juice we do a water bottle. He can drink out of a cup and won't spill it and sometimes he wants to, but he is such a creature of habit that he has certain cups for certain things.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I put almost all of the boys' drinks in the Take & Toss straw cups with a lid. A is fine with a regular cup, but T is always grabbing them. Regular cups are only at the table with a meal.
We use sippys for most beverages in our house, otherwise, it ends up getting knocked over somehow and we are cleaning up a mess.
along this note, would anyone judge me if I used a sippy for my wine? I usually wait until Riley goes to bed only because I'm afraid she'll knock it over and we'll have red wine everywhere. Now if I had a sippy cup for my wine, the possibilities are endless!

Well I sure wouldn't judge because I DO have a sippy for my wine!
Also both the girls drink milk sippy cups. They have water bottles for water and Elise drinks regular cups when sitting down for dinner.
Kayleigh still drinks out of a sippy too. We've tried not giving her a sippy, but honestly, the fighting to get rid of it just wasn't worth it. Milk she gets in one of the Take and Toss sippys and water/juice is either in a water bottle or a straw Take and Toss.

We've always used straw cups but I still use them for water & milk. She carries her water all over the house & she doesn't drink a lot of milk so I don't want to waste it by putting it in an open cup & having to throw it out after meals.
They use open cups at school so I know she can. I'm not worried.
We also use sippy cups at home. He knows how to use an open cup, but I do not want to clean up after him. I do not even give him an open cup at the table. We should probably change to at least straw cups, but I hate cleaning the straws. Right now he only gets a straw when it is something that will clog the sippy, like orange juice.
I hate cleaning straw cups, sippy cups, any cup that's more than just a cup. Open cups all the way!
Same. One day I just said eff it and threw them all out. Henry is only allowed to drink milk/water at the table now. We had a shaky go with it at first and have the occasional accident but I'll take that over all the parts or cleaning a straw.
