chocolate blaaaah I'll keep trying I guess. It's hard to convince her because she really doesn't like it. And she has some strong preferences I will break out the manual pump to try to convince that side. I remember hearing that 80% of people produce more on their dominant side (stronger muscles maybe?) but this time it's SO much more exaggerated. Final count last night, 9.5oz right, 2.5oz left. So my right is definitely compensating.

Interesting. I'm right handed and my left produces better, but only by maybe an ounce tops. But I always nurse DD on my right first because of hearing that story. She was like an A cup on one side and a C or D on the other. And I don't think her baby would nurse that side at all (she was like 9-10 months at this point). So yeah, that sucks. But keep at it!!

I'm left handed and left side has quit early with both kids. I get 1.5-2oz tops no matter how many hours between pumping.
chocolate and mishy2010 interesting! I looked back and I think I was wrong. Now all I can find is an article that says 80% of women produce more on one side, often your dominant side. I don't know if there's hope for lefty even with extra pumping and stuff (although I'm going to try). Milk doesn't even come out the same. Right side it comes out of way more places, if that makes sense. I think it has less milk producing tissue in general. Luckily, even with over 6 mos of DS not nursing that side, they weren't visibly uneven Probably because neither is big to begin with.
I'm left handed but with my first, the left was the underachiever. It may have been due to my preference to nurse in the cross cradle position. My left hand just felt more comfortable to hold DD on the right boob.
Now with DS and EPing, the left is the one that produces more. Only about 0.5oz more, so it's not a huge difference.

How many times a day is your LO nursing these days? We are at 6 times most days but that's with a dream feed still-- I want to drop the dream feed but am worried 5 times won't be enough milk for the day.

I think about 6 times for an actual feed.
Wake Around 9:15-9:30 Around noon Usually again at 1 just to fall asleep for nap 3-3:30 (upon waking from nap) 5ish or before we eat supper 7 (bed time)

I also do solids at supper time. Did some at lunch over the weekend so I might make it a point to keep that lunch in there too.

I just dropped our MOTN feed this weekend. He was waking at like 4-5 am and having trouble getting back to sleep afterwards, messing up the whole day really bc then he was overtired before the day really even had started. I don't think he was really hungry then anyway because he's settled himself without me even having to go in there both yesterday and today. But since then it seems like he's eating pretty much every hour. Today he's eaten at 7, 745, 1030, 1130. I think it's just not really satisfying him anymore. I was planning on waiting another 3 weeks to make it a full 6 months of EBF before starting solids but I think we may have to start a little earlier than planned.
ETA: Before I dropped the 5 am feed, he was doing 5 am, 9 am, 12pm, 3pm and 6 pm so only 5 feeds. I guess it depends though on how much milk you have and if your LO can tolerate larger feeds.
ETAA: I'm hoping to get him on a 7 am, 11 am, 3 pm, 630 pm schedule. It comes out to about the same volume if he just takes 1 more oz at each feed.

Our current schedule is very similar to yours with the 5am feed-- just with a 10pm dream feed too. We haven't started solids yet either but plan to this week (though I imagine it will take a while for her to get much actual food still)

Weekends and other times I'm with her all day are wacky because I still nurse on demand and nurse to sleep. A regular daycare day is nurse 7am, bottle around 10am, bottle between 12:30-1:30, bottle between 3:30-4:30, nurse around 6pm, nurse to sleep 7:30pm. She wakes up to nurse once or twice a night usually and there is no predictable pattern lately. I would say 6 really good eating sessions per day, with one or two mini comfort nursing times where she probably doesn't take that much milk. We have not started solids yet, but will probably begin letting her have a few tastes this week and not start daily solids until 6mo on 8/15.
Still nursing all the time, like every 2-3 hours during the day. Have tried solids, so far it's a lot of making faces and spitting out. Still feeding around 4 am as well, though unsure if that's a habit or need at this point.
This is us too. He eats all the damn time. Even with solid foods introduced. I have a general idea when he'll be hungry but it's mostly every 2.5 hrs. Pig......

Anyone else have a little "helper" now? He likes to grab hold and put it in his mouth on his own, but the more tired he is, the more hilarious it gets. His hand usually ends up covering my nipple and he can't find where to latch. It's adorable

Is anyone else breastfeeding a martial artist/gymnast these days? I'm so over being kicked, punched, and wiggled/twisted all over during feedings. Just be still and eat!

Yes. And the pinching and squeezing. And tiny sharp claws.

God, the pinching and squeezing! I stopped midfeed over the weekend to cut her nails. I was dying.
