Time to Intro?!? And some newbie questions.

Good morning everyone. Well, I have been completely MIA from TCF for quite sometime because the GKU board was just playing with my emotions too much. DH and I have been trying for 15 months now, at 12 months we found out he had a varicocele causing his number to be way low which was a huge shock to us because he already had one child from his previous marriage.  A month after the diagnosis he had corrective surgery and just this morning I had a positive test!!

I do have a couple of questions if anyone would be willing to lend me an ear.  1 - what have any of you heard from doctors regarding exercising during pregnancy?  I work out 2-3 days a week in an aerobic class with some mild cardio and I just wondered if I should continue or not.  2 - when should I call my OB to make an appointment?  I got the positive test about 2 hours ago and the doctor's office opens in about 15 minutes and I'm wanting to call right now, but I don't want to be the crazy lady who called before the pee stick even dried, haha.

Congrats and welcome! I waited a few days to call my OB just to make sure it stuck.

I called my doc either the same day or next day. But I would call and get things set up soon. I think if you already have exercise in your routine it is OK, but I think they advise against new things that are too strenuous. I personally would call and ask the nurse line. I am actually waiting for a call back from the nurse right now about whether I can ballroom dance during pregnancy or not. Congratulations!

Hi and welcome! Congrats!

1) for my first pregnancy my doctor said, as long as I was having a normal pregnancy, I could exercise at the level I'd been exercising at. In other words, I could maintain but not try to improve my fitness. So I ran lightly until about 20 weeks, when it got uncomfortable, and then I switched to walking.

2) call now if you want! I called today and they put me on the calendar for an appointment at 8 weeks. It doesn't hurt to get an appointment set up now.

Agree with PP regarding exercise- it's ok to do what you've been doing already, but they don't want you to start anything more strenuous.

I called the OB office when my test was a definite positive. They get really busy. Welcome, congrats!!

Thanks everyone! I'm going to finally tell DH tonight when he gets home from class then I'll probably call the doctor tomorrow. I just hated to call the doctor before DH even knew yet!

Welcome and congrats!!! I was also told to keep exercising as I was used to (but to listen to my body and not challenge myself) as long as I was fit and the pregnancy was fine It is much better for you to keep your normal activity level

I always wait till 5 weeks but have no particular reason for it. It's just when I feel more comfortable calling
