How is it going for everyone? I keep having to postpone due to illnesses. I had the stomach flu and I wanted to make sure she didn't get it before we trained. Today was the new start date but now I have to take L to the pedi for an ear infection and we can't be home all day.
We're postponing for now. I'm going to a conference in mid-April. Since I'll be 37 weeks along MH is coming too and since toddler kennels aren't a thing J will be with us. I think it might be too much to ask him to learn the potty then immediately travel. I will try again sometime this summer.

We are holding off on really pushing it until after 2.0 arrives (early June) because we are transitioning to his big boy bed and took away his paci in the last 2 months. It's our way of letting him take the lead. We let him sit when he asks and if he says no then we don't force the issue.
I am still planning to start on the 19th of this month. Should be interesting because we just booked a trip to FL early April, and he will only be 2 weeks in, but I am gung-ho on sticking to it and making it work. We shall see.
We started today. Not a single drop of pee or poop has landed in the potty. I have a feeling we will fall in the group of 5-7 days to learn. It is hard for me to get her on the potty when I see her peeing because I'm having to care for L at the same time. I'm determined so there is no turning back now. We will push through.
Does this oh crap book address "fear" of sitting on ANY potty chair or being naked? Bc my kid is afraid of being diaper less and afraid of sitting on any potty. We have never made a deal of anything potty related.

I have been following the Oh Crap book and we have successfully made it out of block one! She has initiated almost every time she has peed in the potty today. This is a HUGE improvement from yesterday. I felt like giving up yesterday bc it was going so bad. It's like a little lightbulb went off!
We have even been on a short outing (not by choice just pure necessity) and she didn't have an accident!
My next hurdle will be having her pull her pants down and sitting on the potty. For some reason she screams when she has to pull any form of clothing down to sit.
Alright, I think for the most part we done! We just need to nail down poop and go on more outings for practice in public bathrooms. Otherwise, we are pretty much done. It only took 5 days.
@babylentilbean, was she ready or did you push it? He doesn't seem ready. At all. But I figured I don't want PT to get out of hand like our sleep almost did way back when, so I better read up on it first!

You need to read the Oh Crap book. I like what she says about kids being ready. She basically says if your kid can follow basic commands and communicate what he/she needs they are ready. E didn't want to sit on the potty at first so that was the first hurdle.
I swear, that book made me feel like I could potty train an entire army of toddlers.
I did everything she recommended and it took 3 full days before everything clicked. I felt pretty devastated by the end of the third day. Day 4 was like night and day. She was self initiating going to the potty. Day 5, we added pants. She adjusted to pants really fast. We have been on several outings to practice going in public restrooms and she has done great. Yesterday we were gone almost the entire day and the only accident she had, ironically, was when we were at home.
We start next weekend, but tonight she looked at me and said poop. I took her to the potty and she did! I am hoping this is a good omen! Anyone doing night training too? I might be lazy and just do days and see if the nights do itself. I really don't like getting up in the middle of the night, takes me an hour to get back to sleep
I'm not doing night training either. The book says to wake them up to pee - f that. Sleep is hard enough to get around here. I'll night train when she's old enough to get up and pee and go back to bed without me :/
Day training has been going really well though. We had our first accident free day 2 days ago and yesterday she made an hour car ride to visit a friend, there and back with no accident! And her nap diapers are dry more than not lately, so I may drop those soon.
Dd had not pooped today, recently been farting a lot that would put my dh to shame. So we are currently sitting on the potty in the living room watching Mulan. Wish she would poop in the potty and not wait for her diaper

Are you just doing diapers at night? If you don't give a diaper at naptime she may not hold out for it.
I dropped naptime diapers right away. I just watch fluids and make sure she has a good pee right before she goes to sleep. She hasn't wet the bed during naptime since we first started. She even stays dry at night sometimes. It's not as consistent but she stays dry if I watch fluids at night.
I think I'm going to attempt night training. I was going to do it right off the bat, and tried it the first night, but chickened out. I'm going to tell her she can get up and use the potty and then get back in bed. And of course call for me if she needs me. At this point, I'm up all night with Logan anyways, what's adding a little more to my night time struggles?
I think yesterday went well. A few misses but by the end of they day she stopped playing and ran to the potty to use it. Then as we were reading in bed she asked for the potty and pooped. She may have the idea, we shall see what today brings
She has done great today, only one accident but dad just got home from a week long business trip and she got a little excited. This reminds me of potty training a puppy! Other than that she is initiating with pants on. I am so excited.
OMG!!! The girl gets it! Everything has gone in the potty today and she is even asking to go! Not touching night training just yet. Hope that will come with time and not ready for her to be loose in the house yet.

Ok, so I was going to attempt winging it, tried that for one day and said I don't know what the hell I am doing. So I got the Oh Crap book and set the date for April 10th to "toss diapers" (not doing night/nap training yet). But I just had a phone interview for a job the other day, and will have an in-person interview the week I planned to start PT. The job is a work from home position, but if I get it, I'll have to go elswhere for training for a week or two, so I'm going to have to postpone PT until I am settled in the new job.
One question, E usually goes to my MIL's on Wednesdays. When I do decide to start, I'm thinking I should probably keep her home that first Wednesday since it would only be day 4. Obviously my MIL has potty trained her own three kids, but likely not in this manner so I am not sure if it would be a good idea to send her there all day on only day 4. But, do you think she would be ready to go by the following week, so day 11? I'll see how she is doing of course, but if shes doing pretty well, do you think it would mess anything up being with her Nana for most of the day. I am pretty confident my MIL will do what I ask her to do regarding training.

I think she will do fine by day 11.
Honestly, I ditched diapers for naptime and I think it has helped with her at night. She has been waking at night asking to go to the potty instead of peeing in her diaper.
For naps, I just watch fluid intake. I give lots of fluids when she wakes and start limiting 2 hours before she takes her nap. She only had a few accidents the first week and now stays dry during naps. Yesterday, she woke halfway through her nap and asked to potty and then I put her back to bed and she finished her nap.
So DD decided today was the day to potty train. She refused a diaper this morning when she woke up and stripped down. She's been naked since and sitting on the potty off and on by herself. Nothing yet. I'm not prepared but clearly she is? I have no idea if should I just go with it?

Go with it! Just don't put another diaper on except for bedtime and give her no choice but to move forward with it.
