Hopefully people have had time to finish the whole book by now! Hopefully no one minds me starting things up.

Do you think Charles and Anne loved each other? How did their relationship change throughout the book?

When Anne found the photo of little Charlie in Charles's belongings... what did you think of that?

I think I gasped out loud when she found the photo of Charlie, and I think Anne finally understood Charles and the way he grieved for their son. I agree that it was closure for Anne in terms of their relationship.

I wonder if they ever actually loved each other though. Anne seemed to be in awe of him from the beginning and was trying to live up to his fame, but was that love? Charles seemed to take her for granted. And they both did end up having affairs.

I wasn't sure if I agreed with the photo of Charles thing. I think that's a moment that the author used creative license and I think that Charles is just a cheating douche. I don't doubt that he was affected by the loss of his first son, though.

I bet there was love at some point. And then maybe just appreciation later in life.

Agreed on the use of creative license on finding the picture. While I loved that part - it tied it up too completely (i.e. Full circle) to be real, especially given Charles track record.
