I haven't been around here lately, but I hope some might be able to answer a question I have. I saw my GP today about my anxiety and agreed to take Buspar 2x a day 5mg each. I am supposed to see him again in two weeks. He said the most common side effect is dizziness. I didn't think much of it until I got home and read review after review of people complaining of dizziness. How can parents take care of young children with dizziness like that? Now I'm thinking of not taking it.

Anyone have insight?
I've taken it before. Luckily I didn't experienced dizziness, so it doesn't affect everyone that way. But if you decide not to take it, I would recommend calling your dr and letting them know. Maybe there are other options?

Do you mind sharing your experience with it?
Sure. I took it after the birth of my second child. I Didnt want to take an antidepressant because I felt like my symptoms were more anxiety. Well turns out the med didn't work because it was depression I was dealing with. So after about 3-4 months i added an antidepressant. That helped much better. So I can't really say if it worked or not because I was trying to treat the wrong problem. But I didn't have any bad side effects from it. And I know it's a common med to be prescribed for anxiety. I would suggest talking to your dr about your concerns. But you could try it for a couple weeks to see if it causes dizziness. If so I think the dr can help you get off it. I wish you luck! hope you find something that works for you!

Definitely doesn't make everyone dizzy. I get dizzy really easily anyways and when I was on it it didn't cause any side effects. And 5mg is such a low dose that it's less likely to cause that type of side effect, though anything is possible. Overall it didn't really work for me, but my h takes it now (doesn't cause any side effects for him either) and he's doing really really well on it. Like, he forgot a dose one morning and it was night and day with his anxiety. It's got a relatively short half life, so I say take the first dose on a weekend or something when you can have someone else around and see how it goes if you're really worried. But from all the people I've known that have had success with it I'd say it's worth a shot. I hope it works for you.

Agree with you about the dizziness. I would feel apprehensive as well. Sadly, there is no way to know if you will have this side effect until you try it.
Could you ask him for an alternative med since you are concerned about taking care of your kids?
