I was also up and walking and used the bathroom on my own about 2 hours after labor.
Me too. They helped me walk to it the first time - probably just regulations so I didn't accidentally fall and hit my head on something - and then I was good after that. Next time around I would prefer they do the same set up. They can always give me more medicine if needed but you can't take it away.
Ditto the bolded. My nurse told me to let her know the first time I needed to pee so she could introduce me to my new best friends, stretchy disposable undies, diaper pad, and the heavenly peri bottle.
Yeah my BIL does epis at Good Sam (but my labor was from 6pm to 8am. So night shift, less docs, etc... My contractions were one minute long, one minute rest. It started to get so painful I was panicking. Guttural sounds were about all I could do. I am in envy of anyone that makes it med free. My water broke so I didn't have a choice with the pit. But my reward for shitty labor was a no push, tiny tear birth.
Nope! Haha. I know three guys (through him that do epis there) but it's not a Jeff. They're also all mid 30s. I don't know that they do a lot of maternity though. Mostly the ER and scheduled surgeries. My sis does only L&D now. She used to do anesthesia at Children's. So I know a bunch of their anesthesia people too.
Christ has the highest C-section rate in the state of Ohio, so I would avoid delivering there if possible. Good Sam is the busiest L&D in the State (has great level 3 NICU though if you have issues or are less than 32 weeks at delivery), but they can be so busy sometimes that you may have to share a postpartum room. Bethesda North is great though. I delivered my twins there. They are the 2nd busiest L&D unit in Cincinnati (not state). I think they are busy enough to be competent, but you never have to share a postpartum room. Bethesda North has a level 2 special care nursery equipped to care for 32weeks +.
OB's that deliver at Bethesda: Jim Sosnowski, Lisa Yang, Alan Altman, Warren Metherd, Anne Kaiser (all in a group together with some midwives). Lisa Yang delivered my twins vaginally. Love her!
Single OB with 1-2 Nurse practitioners (not midwives): Dan Bowen
Dr. Froelich was another well liked OB...but obviously has had some issues in the last few years and rumor is he is not practicing now.

Christ hospital made the top 100 hospitals for women's care in 2013. My experience with Christ was fantastic and I'd recommend them to everyone. Remember, the incidence of c-section is tied to your physician more closely then to the hospital. And it's very well possible that the hospital has a high c-section rate because the physicians that have rights there see more high risk patients. I'd recommend choosing your hospital based on where your the preferred physician practices, not choosing a physician based on the preferred hospital amenities.
Good Sam sees the most high risk OB patients (and is the busiest in he state) because of the level 3 NICU & theoretically should have the highest c/s rate.
I think both the OB provider and the hospital are important when choosing where to deliver.
I have heard good things about Dr Heidi & Dr Lum & they deliver at Christ.
