I am torn about how to handle a situation and would love some opinions. I have been planning a surprise trip for this weekend for me and DH. Nothing crazy - just a night in Canada to go out to dinner and the casino and sleep in I already booked the hotel and if I don't cancel tonight (if needed) I have to pay in full.
DS woke up this morning with a 103.3 fever. It never fails when we have something fun planned . Her temp was up and down today. My MIL and FiL are having the kids sleepover on Saturday. They are great with the kids but I'm worried leaving if she's still running a high fever (Canada is only about 1.5 hours from me). I can't ask my husbands opinion because it's a surprise. What do you guys think? Keep the hotel and hope she's better? She's not acting sick at all except for the fever and being a little extra sleepy.
I also say go. Liam has random fevers all the time, that last only a few hours without any other symptoms. I'm sure your IL can deal with a slightly sick kid if need be.
Also, where is this casino you speak of? Smart move, since Canadian money is basically Monopoly money for you at the moment...

Lol that is kind of what prompted the trip I live an hour and a half away from Niagara Falls so we are going to go over to the Canadian side since the exchange rate is so good. We are going to the Fallsview casino. We are not big gamblers but it's fun every now and then
I would keep the reservation, and being her to the doctor tomorrow morning. Honestly by Saturday night chances are she'll feel better and the fever will be home. But with 103, she's probably fighting something off (like an ear infection) and hopefully some antibiotics can help right away.
Like other said, I would probably keep the reservation. Chances are the fever will be gone by Saturday. If you bring her in today, if its anything that needs to be treated (ear infection, etc), then at least you already have the medicine and bases covered. It's not like its a long extended trip.
also long as MIL and FIL are comfortable watching a potentially sick kid I say go for it!
This. I would also add, have they done it before when she's been sick? For a comfort level, knowing they've done it before might be helpful. But I'm completely comfortable with my parents watching my kids, whether they are sick or well, they are taken very care of. So for me I would still go and just ask them what they would prefer.
I don't want the bump curse, but seems to be much better. We took her to the doctor and it's a virus. Her temp was much lower today and she was relatively happy, so I'm feeling ok about leaving her.
So did you go!? How was it? Also, how is the lo doing?
We went and it was great! When we got home Sunday afternoon my son had the fever but he was ok while we were away. It was really nice to have a night away together and we even won a little money at the casino
