Last night I went to a jamberry party and DH was home with the girls. In the 2 hours I was gone DD#1 got a splinter, Avery had an accident, and snacks were spilled from the pantry. All of this happened while he was trying to get dinner ready. I couldn't help but laugh. He's finally getting a taste of what life is like on a daily basis for me.
I was pretty proud of him for not freaking out. He gave Avery a bath, cleaned the bathroom with bleach, fed them dinner and had the girls in pajamas before I got home. This is a huge change for him.
That's great! I'd be laughing (actually am laughing) if I were you too! Especially after a few of the things you've shared about him never really taking the girls on alone. I love when things are "normal" for them and not magically easy!

We had a big coming to Jesus talk a few weeks ago and he's been helping out a lot more. Normally he would have been texting me non stop but this time I didn't hear anything about it until I got home. He even told me to stay out as long as I wanted before I left. The biggest shocker was giving Avery a quick bath. I don't think he has ever bathed her.
He actually said he doesn't know how I juggle everything and that I make it look easy. Hopefully things continue in the very positive direction.

I'm helping my sister move on Saturday so H will be in charge of the boys. He's rarely been home alone with both of them, so I'm interested to see how he handles it.

sarahandeddie, That's actually pretty awesome that he complimented you and took it on to boot with some grace. Good for him!
aimeefarrahfowler, Your house is going to be on fire and your kids will be standing naked on the lawn with you husband holding a turkey leg while you pull up in your driveway. That is my premonition.

Do you have a copy of said "coming to Jesus talk"? My house could use such a discussion.

I think the trick was to talk to him when he got done with a minor surgery. He was totally lucid and relaxed but couldn't go anywhere - lol. Hopefully you don't need the full transcript because it was started with some pretty unpleasant stuff. But it was nice to hear my DH admit he's been selfish and needs to help out more and then watch him actually do it.
