What's your biggest challenge?

Happy Monday laides! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Since it has been quiet I thought I would throw this out there. What is your biggest challenge/concern/frustration currently? Is it work-related? Family-related? Pick one thing only. I thought this might be a good way to vent, and maybe one (or more) of us has gone through the same thing and can give advice.

My blood results that I got on Friday. I shared on FB but not on here. According to my results, I'm early menopausal, I'm 34 this week. I still haven't had a chance to talk to the doctor for questions or to know what it exactly means or a plan of attack. I was supposed to see him today for Eliza's 2 year appt, but he's out sick. So I'm bringing my results in and asking the replacement doc and I have a message into him. So overall, it's kind of depressing and I've been in a funk since Friday. Not to mention, H told his Mom. Who the Fuck knows why, but I don't need her knowing since she can't keep a secret. And it wasn't his information to share!

I'm not going to put the H thing here. You all have heard enough and we are healing now. But I'd say right now I am trying to find a way to center myself and give back to me. Despite where I'm physically living and feeling that roadblock, I feel stagnant. I cannot be creative in my own home because it needs to be staged. I cannot spend a lot of money because I'm set on saving for moving. So buying things like décor (which brings me joy is out). So I'm in a creative rut. I'm hoping with the onset of better weather being able to focus on gardening in a couple months (May) will help. I derive pleasure from controlling my environment and crafting it if that makes sense, I know I'm weird. I haven't really been able to do it for 8+ months now and I've been feeling it and it's been making me depressed (literally depressed).

This is not the biggest, but it is something that effects and bothers me on a near daily basis.

Getting out the door in the morning. We have been horrible about getting out on time since the time change. H and I got into fight multiple mornings last week bc I was asking for more help to try to get out on time and he literally said no in response to my requests.

This morning I got annoyed because he left really early (before Henry was even up) and it just reminded me of last week when I had to leave early and I had to get up extra early because even if he is doing daycare drop off I cant leave without helping get the kids out the door. Like literally out the door and into his car. If I try and leave without helping get to that point he throws a fit. (I did it exactly once and he kept calling me and telling me I had to turn around and come back to the house and help him).

Anyway I need to figure out how to 1. Get back into our routine to get out on time and
2. Get more help from H without it feeling like pulling teeth.

For me it's my job. I'm so burned out. I never wanted to do sales and yet here I am, almost 10 years later, still doing sales. I've been keeping an eye on job openings but I'm having a hard time finding much. I don't want a long commute and I don't have experience besides sales, so I'm struggling. Some days are good, but most days I dread going in to work and find myself getting down on Sundays when I think about going back to work. I want to find something that energizes me and makes me feel like I'm really helping people. But I also have a really hard time with change, so I know that has been holding me back too. I keep saying I'm going to find something once I have baby #2, but that's been dragging on for almost a year now and I'm not sure how much longer I can wait.

bliz1712, I saw your post on FB last week and I didn't get a chance to comment. What kind of tests did your doc run? Is it possible it could be something else, or did he determine your diagnosis from specific tests? I am so mad for you that he just gave you the results without a call or any kind of explanation. He may be busy, but if that's how he gives test results he's not doing his job right IMO. I hope you get some answers soon.

summergirl1211, He ran a full hormonal panel supposedly. And 2 of the hormones and the range I'm within indicate that I am. He didn't indicate if any of the other hormones were out of ordinary. They very well could be. The article I found when I googled, yes I know bad but I needed something to help calm me down, said that some other health concerns can push you into early menopause. Like Thryoidism, graves disease, lupus, tumor in the putitory and some others I can't remember. So basically I want to know if there isn't some other underlying issue. I don't think you can stop menopause once it's started which really sucks for me. I'm hoping to at least talk to a medical professional today, if not then I wait for his call and my appt on the 12th. My doc is out sick so that's why I haven't heard from him yet, I called on Friday.

bliz1712 I'm glad you are going for a second opinion. At your age they need to rule out all the possible causes of the high hormone levels. It worries me that your doctor would just accept that a 34 year old is in menopause without exploring any possible causes or referring you to a specialist. I hope you can get some answers today.

I'm so tired of everyone being sick in my house. Currently its me. Of course H can't help because he works nights and a ridiculous amount of overtime and my MIL is also sick so she can't help with the kids so I can rest. I know that when the weather gets better we will all be fine. But I'm almost at my whits end and have so. Little. Patience.
For now bubble guppies and lego batman are doing major entertaining in my house so I don't loose my cool over ridiculous things.

Right now it's my job. I hate it. I was offered a different position about a month ago, from my old boss, and while it sounded like a good opportunity I turned it down for a few reasons. Not that I'm having second thoughts about that job (because I still wouldn't take it) I just hate, hate, hate my current job. I am getting burnt out on HR but that's not even the reason. It's hard to describe but I was given more responsibility, which isn't it either, it's just the business unit they gave me is a mess, the manager's are nightmares who do whatever they want, I'm not in the corporate office so if there is an issue people just go to my boss so I'm learning things second hand, I still feel new to the company because no one every really gave me any sort of training so I'm just doing the best I can with the resources I have. I'm just frustrated and know that it will never get any better unless I move to OH which I'm not doing. Plus I can't do anything until my H is out of school so I have at minimum 30 months left of it before I can make a change.

I also dread work everyday. We are so short staffed 99.99% of the time. I have to talk myself into it everyday. Unfortunately it is like this everywhere. Hopefully H will get some big raises in the next couple years and I can cut back hours. 12 hour shifts that end up being 13/14 suck so bad.

I do not miss being a nurse at all for these reasons.

summergirl1211, I have a friend who is a lawyer by training but is now a director of a non-profit for Native Americans in town. I wonder if you wouldn't want to talk to her someday just to talk about some periphery options that might be available to you or different paths that might be taken if you are so burnt out. I have no idea how realistic jumping ship is, but she is great and made a really nice life for herself. Just throwing it out there.

Hugs everyone.
Mine is this pregnancy. Every time I go in there's something else going on with him. Getting pregnant when I did was the shock of a lifetime, and I'm processing through all of those emotions still. And then the additional testing I had to do when the ultrasound didn't work out was so stressful. And now I'm being monitored for pre term labor. I came in for a normal appointment today and have been here for an NST for an hour now and they did an FFN. It's really hard dealing with an unexpected pregnancy when I did with everything going on in my marriage, and now to top it off all of the emotions of having not great things happen.

Oh, and I keep getting comments about my weight (thank you old, overweight vet lady for making me feel super great. Yup I'm sure it's only one.) and my doctor told me I need to not gain any more weight. Okay. Super.

For me it is simply getting stuff done. Once I get the kids to bed or nap, I don't feel like doing anything. Not cooking, or cleaning, or exercising. I have no motivation to do anything but sit on the couch. Almost every day I say to myself "I'm going to XYZ done before I sit down", but then I never do and I procrastinate and procrastinate and fall asleep on the couch and don't get anything done. I keep telling myself that it's okay, working and taking care of two kids is a lot and some things can slide a bit. But this has been going on for like a year. I just need to get my butt in gear and take care of stuff, but I can't and I don't know why.

paddyb I leave for work early and H is on his own to get the kids out of the house and to the sitters', and what I do to help him is to pack up their clothes and diapers and backpack and lunch the night before and put it in his car on my way out. I also put out outfits for them.

H usually gives DS1 the ipad in our bed and takes his shower and gets dressed before he gets DS2 out of his crib (luckily DS2 likes to sleep in and is pretty chill when he wakes up and is happy to hang out until someone gets him)

Not saying you haven't tried any or all of this, but H has been doing drop off on his own since I came back from maternity leave with DS2 and he does okay.

aimeefarrahfowler I guess one ofnthe problems is that he doesnt tell me ahead of time when he plans to deviate from our agreed upon morning duties. If I knew ahead of tine I could laybout outfits the night before or get up earlier etc.

On Monday he woke up early and got ready the woke me up as he was about to leave...so I had to scramble.

Essentially not knowing from day to day if I will get help or not is driving me nuts.

paddyb this happens to us too. H will say something that morning! I've said a number of time "just tell me the night before!!"

origamimommy sending prayers for you and baby dinosaur. Also you gain what you gain. You looked great in your last picture definitely not like you've gained too much. When I delivered Shane I was swollen from pre-e and weighed almost 200lbs (I'm only 5'2) but he was born healthy and that's what counts.

My biggest challenge now is balancing everything. When I was working it was different but still applicable. I have a hard time finding time to be Patrick's mom. Williams mom, Hs wife, and myself and taking care of everything else. They all require such different things and I feel like I'm not fully focused on all of them. It's hard to switch back and forth or make sure that I give enough time to each. It was harder when I was teaching because that one required so much energy too. I guess I'm doing the best I can but myself always gets the shaft. I know we all atruggle with this but it is my biggest challenge and probably always will be.

I'm late to this, but I'm starting to feel extra challenged by work... both in good ways and in bad. I have some commitments to the VA office that I'm wrapping up and will be 100% done with at the end of April, but I also have started getting new projects out of the MN office. The first challenge is the sheer quantity of things that came my way in the last 2 weeks - I'm about to drown...

Then there's simply the fact that I have been so far from designing a project from start to finish in the last year and honestly even longer than that, that I've had to do a full concept and palette for something without someone literally reviewing everything and practically dictating how much I can/cannot do with something... You'd think I'd be so excited and jumping at the bit to do things - but honestly I'm almost a little unnerved. I'm almost afraid of failing, since it's been so long I was allowed to really be creative and do my own thing....

I'm also planning for a lot of travel the next two months, and I'm really excited about it - but also starting to realize how much I'll be gone... by myself (a good thing usually) I hope H doesn't get frustrated with it.

trixi282, I sometimes get overwhelmed at the start of new projects. I feel like a new project type will be over my head or a new client will be too much. I have one coming up that I'm running the master planning for complex for a project type I'm not completely confident with. Fake it til you become it, right? I know it's daunting but you can do it. You'd do the same if the roles were reversed. He will be ok.
