Welcome! This is a weekly check in for those of us who are pregnant after loss and/or infertility. This check in is a safe place to share all things that come with being PgAL and/or PAIF, and to give support to others.
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax?
~~~~~~~~~~~This week only~~~~~~~~~~~ What is your loss and/or IF history? PgAL: MC @ 7 weeks 2/14, Rainbow born 12/14, MC @ 13 weeks 11/15
What is your EDD? 12/27
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 4 weeks tomorrow. I got a super early positive last week.
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Physically, ok. I'm so hungry, and have slight nausea. Emotionally, I have moments where I am calm and positive, and then moment I run to the bathroom to make sure I'm not bleeding.
Any appointments or milestones this week? More betas Tuesday. I had my second betas yesterday, and so far, so good, with a doubling time of 36 hours. Also, my progesterone was 28! I've never been over a 16, and that was with my rainbow!
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? I found gardening to be so relaxing last summer, so I'm hoping the same will be true this year. I just downloaded a self-hypnosis track for PgAL. I'm hoping it will help me to focus on being calm and positive. Also, Friends episodes make everything better.

Thanks for starting this, birch113!! W, I'm the same way with peeing. I'm constantly expecting to see blood every time I drop trow in the bathroom.
~~~~~~~~~~~This week only~~~~~~~~~~~
What is your loss and/or IF history? TTC since 2012, 30-some cycles charted. H has MFI and I have PCOS. We finally saved up enough $ for IVF and miraculously, it has worked so far.
What is your EDD? 12/17/16
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 5w2d
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? I'm pretty okay. I don't feel any different, besides being more thirsty than usual (and then peeing more than usual. vicious cycle right there.) Also BLOAT and tiredness. I'm having a hard time accepting that this might be happening for real. I'm waiting for them to be like "HAHAHA JK" at any time.
Any appointments or milestones this week? I have an ultrasound on Wednesday to hopefully see the sac(s) and hopefully the embryo(s).
QOTW: I like to relax by watching TV. I like to get lost in another world for an hour or a half hour and just forget about real life for that time. Also, trying to just go about my normal day like nothing's changed. That might just be a defense mechanism because I am not quite at the point where I believe this might actually be real yet.
IVF+ICSI March 2016 (6R/5M/5F - 3 embryos on ice) 4/7/16: first ever BFP! EDD: 12/17/16 DS Arrived via C-Section 12/19/16! FET #1 June 2019 - 1 embryo didn't survive thaw & the one that did didn't stick around. BFN FET #2 September 2019 - last embryo didn't survive thaw.
What is your loss and/or IF history? We started TTC in October 2014. Went to the RE in Oct. 2015 and everything checked out fine so we were officially "unexplained." I got really lucky and got KU on my first IUI. Unfortunately, that pregnancy ended with a MMC at the end of my 8th week. I am pregnant now as a result of my 3rd IUI.
What is your EDD? Dec. 5, 2016
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 7 weeks today!
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? I am basically a hot mess all around. I feel like shit - tired and nauseous. And I am so nervous for our ultrasound on Friday. I had spotting over the weekend (brown) and pains in my stomach (nothing too severe). I am just trying to relax.
Any appointments or milestones this week? First ultrasound Friday!
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax?
I like to relax by walking the dog, getting my nails done, watching TV, etc. I've been trying to keep busy as much as possible.
Much love birch113 for starting this. FX for good betas tomorrow!
W, I'm glad that your MW is seeing you early! YAY! FX the next 2 weeks go by quickly for you.
lastnamewithheld, I'm SO excited to see if you have more than 1 in there... maybe our next set of twins??
What is your loss and/or IF history? We got pregnant really quickly after we got married, had a 6 week u/s that showed a perfect little baby with a beating heart... we went back at 10 weeks for a regular appointment, only to have no heartbeat. It hadn't even crossed my mind when he couldn't find the heartbeat that anything was wrong, they took us to u/s to check everything and even then I wasn't worried. Once I saw the screen, I just knew that it was over and the tech would not say anything. We were devastated. I had a D&C that afternoon. I could not leave that hospital not knowing when things would happen naturally, if they would. It had already been 2 weeks since the baby had stopped growing.
5 months after my period came back we found out I had low progesterone(which makes me wonder if that was the reason for our loss, but we'll never know) so I was put on clomid and we conceived the 1st cycle with our rainbow.
What is your EDD? December 13th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 6 weeks tomorrow
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Physically I am doing good, although I would have liked to lose 25 lbs prior to getting pregnant. Oh well. I'm having a hard time finding anything that even sounds appealing, so I'm hoping that I can soon get myself back on track with healthy eating. Emotionally, I go in spurts. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one who dreads going to the bathroom for fear of seeing blood.
Any appointments or milestones this week? I'm struggling knowing that by 6 weeks you *should* be able to see a heartbeat.... my DR saw me at 6 weeks with both of my previous pregnancies and so this time, not seeing me until 8 weeks is really hard. I'm not scheduled to go in until 5/6 and it's giving me so much anxiety. DH has off on Fridays, so I may call to see if they can squeeze us in on Friday, just to see...
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? DD always brings me lots of joy, so just spending time with her and seeing her laugh and smile makes me forget about the worries of my current pregnancy.
requiressnacks, Only a few more days until your u/s! It's so hard to wait.... but, getting your nails done sounds like fun. I love doing that! I'm a huge fan of the shellac.

birch113, I've honestly been thinking about this check-in all weekend. Thanks so much for starting so I can get some of the crazy out with women who understand!
What is your loss and/or IF history? One MMC at 8 weeks in December. One DS who is 3.5.
What is your EDD? 12/23
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 4 weeks 3 days
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Physically fine except omg ladies I ate a TON of vegetables on Sat and was in SO MUCH GI distress on Sat night. That relaxin stuff is real. I was so proud of myself for being so healthy but it is hard to digest fiber right now. Otherwise just sore boobs. Emotionally I'm kind of eh. I am simultaneously putting stuff I liked from DS on a secret Amazon baby registry so I don't forget and having a hard time thinking that I am pregnant. Right now I feel "pregnant" (air quotes and all).
Any appointments or milestones this week? No appointment until the dreaded 8 week on Friday, May 13th. For reals.
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? Exercise is my usual jam. I'm trying to still stay in my usual routine, but of course I am always worried that I'll overdo it and that will be the reason for a miscarriage. (I know that is crazy thinking though.) I highly recommend that you all check out the pregnancy meditation on Headspace. I've been doing it for ten mins every night since Thurs and it is 30 sessions long so that should get me all the way to my first appointment. Good for reminding me to take deep breaths!
birch113, thank you for starting this for us! I think this will be a great resource for us PGAL/PAIF ladies.
~~~~~~~~~~~This week only~~~~~~~~~~~
What is your loss and/or IF history? I had a healthy first pregnancy with DS, no issues. I got a BFP in September but had a hard time with LMP since I had just had some spotting the previous month. The first ultrasound (I thought I was about 10.5 weeks along based on LMP) showed baby measuring 8w1d with a heartbeat of 164bpm. But the baby didn't look like DS did in his 8 week ultrasound, something seemed off. Because baby measured 2 weeks behind they scheduled another ultrasound for 2 weeks later. That U/S measured baby at 8w2d. No heartbeat. DH and I were heartbroken. It was a MMC and I had no signs of a miscarriage. I waited a couple of weeks, nothing progressed so had to have a medically induced miscarriage in November. We were cleared to TTC in February and got our BFP in March!
What is your EDD? 12-1-16
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 7 weeks 4 days
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Physically pretty good. Constant sore boobs, a little morning nausea but nothing too bad, not as temperamental as I have been lately, and starting to get some more energy finally. Emotionally it comes and goes. Because I had no indicators of the MMC last time I am hypersensitive to any symptoms this time. I do think once we have the u/s I will feel much better. Overall I am positive but on days when I feel great and don't have any symptoms I get worried. My dr did 4 beta draws this time around and my numbers tripled every 2 days so that helped my pgal brain in the first few weeks. Now we just wait.
Any appointments or milestones this week? Nothing this week. I see my dr next Monday for my first u/s.
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? DS is at SUCH a fun age right now and we are always playing and laughing and that keeps me sane. Also, I started coloring in my adult coloring book and that helps. Organizing my house.
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Physically ok. Tired, some nausea, bloat, always thirsty. Emotionally a big mess. I’m trying to stay positive, take extra care of myself but with DH gone I feel alone/sad. Pregnancy is looking good. All my numbers look fine. But I worry about it, asking the nurse if the numbers make sense for my # weeks, then going online and double checking.
Any appointments or milestones this week? I have an appt Tuesday for blood work and ultra sound. We’ve already confirmed it’s not ectopic and there is a yolk sac but now the dr wants to see the heart beat before letting me go down to one weekly appt.
QOTW: I don’t know how to relax. Unless you count sleeping. I stay focused on taking good care of DS, and ensuring I take all my meds, eat healthy and drink plenty of water.
What is your loss and/or IF history? Feb 2014 Feb 2016
What is your EDD? Christmas day 12/25/16
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 4 weeks
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? I am excited but really cautious of being excited. I am scared for the next month were with both my MC baby didn't grow. So time will tell. I am trying to just bask and enjoy this moment..day at a time.
Any appointments or milestones this week? Blood tests..progesterone and hcg.
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? Taking walks..reading books out at sunset. Working out...which i am going to take down for a while.

~~~~~~~~~~~This week only~~~~~~~~~~~
What is your loss and/or IF history? We started ttc Aug 2014 with long irregular cycles and I got my first bfp March 2015. Saw a heartbeat at my first ultrasound at 7w5d, went for NT scan at 12 weeks and found out there was no heartbeat and baby stopped growing at 8w2d.
What is your EDD? 12/17
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 5w2d
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Physically my boobs are so sore, on and off nausea and some crazy vivid dreams. Emotionally I go back and forth between extremely excited and extremely worried.
Any appointments or milestones this week? First appointment isn't until May 10th. I made the appointment for 8w3d so I would be past my loss milestone.
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? Adult coloring books have been my escape recently. For some reason when I'm coloring I focus on only that and my mind stops wandering.
~~~~~~~~~~~This week only~~~~~~~~~~~ What is your loss and/or IF history? We started trying in June of 2014, started seeing the RE in Aug of 2015. We were "diagnosed" with unexplained IF. We finally got our BFP with IUI #3. We had absolutely no faith it was going to work, fully expecting to start IVF this summer.
What is your EDD? December 6th ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 6w6d
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Morning sickness has kicked in like you wouldn't believe. Unfortunately it had decided to hit any time it wants instead of just a certain time of day. Emotionally I'm scared. Even though I have no history of loss I'm petrified that is going to happen.
Any appointments or milestones this week? My third U/S will be this Friday.
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? Normally I sew, but whenever I've picked up the dress I'm working on I need to run to the bathroom. I really want to finish it before it won't fit too! Now that it is finally starting to warm up here in New England I'll start gardening and taking walks too.
What is your loss and/or IF history? We've been TTC almost 2 years and had one loss in September. We JUST started the diagnostic process last month. We knew none of it would be covered by insurance and so were sort of dragging out feet. H did a SA last month and it came back clear; but that's as far as we got before my BFP!
What is your EDD? 12/20/16
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? I don't know when I ovulated, but going by LMP I am 4 weeks, six days.
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Physically okay. My boobs are so sore...I'm always tired so I don't know if that's a symptom. Nothing major yet. Emotionally...I don't know. I don't think this has fully sunk in yet, and I'm just trying to not get my hopes up quite yet.
Any appointments or milestones this week? No. My CP was at 5 weeks last time so I am just hoping to get through this week!
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? Netflix. I don't nap very well but just sitting and watching something is basically the same thing to me. Or cleaning. That actually helps me de-stress.
W yay for having your first appointment scheduled! Your house must be immaculate!!! Sometimes I stress clean, but sometimes I stress sloth.
lastnamewithheld Yesssssss, the thirst is crazy! GL on Wednesday!! Sending lots of positive vibes!
requiressnacks sending you tons of positive vibes for your u/s Friday! What kind of dog do you have?
hmr11913 (((hugs))) I'm sorry the later appointment is stressful. Fx your provider gets PgAL brain and can give you some reassurance.
legalbeagle thanks for the headspace rec! I'm definitely going to check that out.
winewinebustarhyme what type of coloring book do you like? Scenes? Patterns? I have been thinking about starting to color in the evenings to help with my relaxation.
littlelion GL tomorrow!! I can totally empathize with the over googling to get as much information and reassurance as possible. (((Hugs)))
WineNChocolate good luck with your blood work! What genre of books do you like to read?
graychloham the roller coaster of excited and terrified is such a mindf*ck. As far as relaxation goes, you're making me even more interested in picking up an adult coloring book!
Becca when you have gone through so much to get pregnant, it's no wonder anyone would worry, even without history of loss. I think anyone who is PgAL or PAIF is all too aware of how fragile things can be. Do you do a flower garden or vegetable garden? Or both?
@helgahufflepuff i'll be thinking of you as you get through this milestone. (((Hugs))) Are you watching anything good on Netflix?
birch113, thank you! I just binged Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt this weekend. I LOVE that show. I've also been working my way through Cheers! haha. I'm almost done with it too. 11 Seasons! I'll work through Frasier after I'm done with that.

birch113 oh this is a vast question...I love fantasy..sometimes fantasy erotica (guilty pleasure)..I love a good sarcastic funny book..mysteries are good.
birch113, I do a little of both. Today I started to do a spring clean up of my flower beds. I won't start planting my veggies until closer to Memorial day.
Post by requiressnacks on Apr 18, 2016 15:58:54 GMT -5
birch113, I've got a yellow lab. She was actually originally MH's, so I'm sort of like her evil stepmother. W, I'm so glad they are getting you in so early! I'm not seeing my OB until my 9th week. Sigh. lastnamewithheld, GL at your ultrasound!! hmr11913, my doc saw me in my 6th week last time too, it's been really hard to wait until my 7th week. legalbeagle, Friday the 13th! That's crazy. I hope it's good luck for you. winewinebustarhyme, I didn't have any symptoms of my MMC either. Now I am constantly asking myself, "do I really feel nauseous? Or am I just making it up?" It's so weird. littlelion, when does your H get back? This must be so hard for you! Especially with LO at home. WineNChocolate, sounds like you have the right attitude. I wish we could have wine. graychloham, my dreams have been crazy too! I just wish I could sleep late, which lately has been impossible. Becca, you are so lucky to be on your 3rd Ultrasound this week! @helgahufflepuff, Netflix is my jam too. So relaxing.

Thanks for the check-in!
What is your loss and/or IF history? First BFP on cycle 33 with IVF w/ ICSI. Original dx was unexplained, now assumed egg quality issues since we old had one embryo make it out of 14 retrieved.
What is your EDD? 12-5
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How far along are you? 7 weeks
How are you doing physically? Emotionally? Physically not too bad. Super tired and hungry but no significant nausea. Emotionally I'm trying to be more of a "when we have a baby" mindset versus my normal "if we have a baby". I also find that I keep dwelling on the fact that we didn't get any extra embryos and all the but why feelings.
Any appointments or milestones this week? First US was last week and we heard the heartbeat! Nothing this week.
QOTW: Because of our histories, what is supposed to be a joyous time can be worrisome. I'm making a conscious effort to try to chill. How do you like to relax? A little yoga, reading, and lounging on the couch.
legalbeagle I'm a big fan of Headspace but have tried the pregnancy one yet. Maybe I can switch to that pack. I'm only on day 3 of a different 30 day pack.
