Is anyone's baby spitting up significantly more? J was spitting up maybe once a day if that. Then tonight in this last feeding he did it three times. I know I need to burp him more but should I be concerned or is this normal?
Late to this, but DD spits up frequently. When I mentioned it to the pedi, she said if it becomes projectile that it could be a concern. She was not at that point (just a few days old).
My pedi gave me the impression that spitting up a lot could be from over feeding. I notice G has dribbles when she feeds for a while. But she only burps maybe 50% of the time.

Reading this at the perfect time. Dh was just asking how much was normal and I had no idea. Glad to know that a little seems to be ok. That's what we have so far hopefully it won't get any worse.

I just posted something in relation to spit up. My little guy started spitting up about 2 weeks of age and he is 5 weeks now. I am paranoid to put him down to sleep because on secer occasions he has spit up and started choking from laying down. Scares me to death!! So now I've been holding him all nignt. I Know this isn't safe or the standard but I would rather do that the. Worry about him choking in his sleep. I've purchased a RNP but he still can spit up and is laying on his back.... I'm kinda beside myself as I'm getting maybe 2.5 hours of sleep a nignt from feedings and then me being awake after to make sure he is ok. Any advice?? Has anyone else lived through this!!??

Mine also just started doing this around 2 and a half weeks. He's just spitting up a mouthful or so but it's every time he eats now instead of just occasionally.

How much does he spit up? Both of my boys had pyloric stenosis and they would spit up almost everything they ate. Diagnosed at 4 and 5 weeks I think.
He doesn't spit up that much.... My sister inaws baby had that and I know it is projectile vomiting..... It's not like that. I assume reflux but who knows. I just need sleep and I worry about him choking. So I choose to watch over him instead. I'm trying to figure out how to side lay him at an incline? I dont see this working wih what I have now.
My guy spits up about half the time. It's not the whole feed and it is just not consistent... Sometimes he burps, sometimes not. The ped wasn't too concerned since he is gaining weight.

I have mine sleeping in an RNP... He has spit up in it but it sort of dribbles out of the side. I have been rocking him on my chest extra long after a feeding and if he spits up it usually has been happening then. I do think there maybe a connection with over eating/ chugging. I have been doing the lay down position which I read slows the flow of milk some.

My baby was born at 34 wks so my hospital made me watch a few health and safety videos. Babies are most safe lying flat on their back if they spit up. This way the food pipe is below the air pipe so gravity prevents choking. The spit up will dribble out their mouth or baby swallows it.
If you are concerned talk to your dr. My nephew had bad reflux as a baby and so my sister bought something for him to sleep at an incline. Not sure what its called.
Mazinator I called his pediatrician after he threw up the whole meal, she said as long as it wasn't projectile and not occurring often it is nothing to worry about. Her advice was to try to burp for longer and keep upright for 15-30 minutes after a feed.

Okay! I figured that it wasn't a huge concern and a lot of what I found online didn't show any reason to be freaked out.
Thank you, I wasn't sure if anyone else had experienced this with their lo.
My pediatrician reassured me by saying spit up looks like more liquid than it generally is - she said measure out an ounce of something (water, cow's milk, etc) and splash on a towel - it will likely look like way more than what your baby is spitting up. So even if you think baby spit up the whole feeding, it likely was way less.
