Anyone doing anything 2nd birthday party planning yet? I think we have decided on a Wheels on the Bus theme.. Since A is obsessed with buses right now. What's everyone else have in mind?
Not really having a party this year. My family is coming here for a little "reunion" on DD's birthday so we will probably go to the water park or Zoo then go out for dinner afterwards.
I'm thinking about it! I think we might do a train theme (not Thomas, but just trains), because DS likes them and I really want to put on the invites "All Aboard. Choo Choo. First name Middle name is Turning Two" Lol I get into it

Just grandparents, my siblings and their families, DH sibling and family and maybe two close friends. Honestly, it comes to 15-20 adults and a few kids even when I'm trying to not have a party. We will keep simple and probably order pizza or grill (if DH wants to) and get a cake. I'll buy Elmo plates and napkins.

DD3 arrives 3 weeks before DD2's birthday. We might do something the weekend before DD3 gets here. I want to do something because I've always done parties for DD1, but oy!
No theme here. We'll do a pool party, possibly grill. The plates/ napkins will probably be 2nd birthday theme or a kid-ish generic happy birthday theme. Unless he falls in love with one certain thing over the summer, I won't do anything specific.
I think we're gonna have it at our nearest state park since we are living at my dad's house and he has a non child-friendly dog. And we'll be having pulled pork. That's about all the planning I've done.

This exactly (except maybe Elmo). I said "just a small family gathering" and it still ends up being like 30 people. I won't put too much effort into it, though. Just a casual get together that also has birthday cake.
Glad to see this thread bc Jack just got invited to his first Bday party from school. And I really want to throw one for him in Aug. The one we are going to is at a bounce house place. I am thinking this may be a good option for us too bc late Aug is going to be hawt as hell.
As far as themes go, I don't really know yet. Maybe Paw Patrol or Superwings.
Love the bus idea, Wheels on the Bus and If You're Happy and You Know It are DS's favorite songs.
We don't do a party, so on the actual day, we will do something fun, the three of us, but not sure what yet. Two days before his birthday, our local zoo (very small zoo) is having some sort of special event (just like a kids speaker coming to talk about the animals in our "zoo house" area). I think since that is happening, I will invite our playgroup friends to come along with us and make a morning of it and have a small picnic.

We'll do a family party for LO. Backyard party again. He's into Elmo and Daniel Tiger so I've considered them as themes. I also think "trucks" as a theme would be fun. I guess we'll see what he's more into as the next months pass.
I'll also be about 3 weeks postpartum when DD1 turns two. We are planning on just doing cake and ice cream and inviting our parents, my two brothers, and my niece. We may grill burgers too since we have to eat anyway. Whatever we do will be super low key since DD2 will be so new.
You are more ambitious than I plan to be 3 weeks PP with birthdays! Way to go.

Another Superwings fan here. That show stops him in his tracks.
My due date for DD is 4 days after DS's bday, so who knows what the heck will be going on. But whatever it is will be very low key especially if I have another C-section. Grill, salads, cake, balloons, DONE!
I have definitely started thinking about it. DS changes what he is into almost weekly so I have been trying to think more generic. I looked into renting a small bounce house but those things aren't cheap. My plan is to pick a theme and do similar to last year. Just back yard with snacks and cake.
So far my theme ideas are:
Planes - every time he hears one he stops and points to the sky yelling plane, plane. We joke and call him Tattoo (Fantasy Island)
Balls and Bubbles - not sure how to make this a theme it is just the two things he has always loved to play with
Circus - which was 2nd choice theme for his first birthday.
Sorry for the novel obviously I have probably thought a little too much about this.

This is what I want to try and do for DD2. We even have a cute prop in the form of DD1's old Halloween costume from when she was 2. It looks a lot like this. We even have that exact hat pretty much. Invite a few friends over with that set out and make DH make most of the food and I think we'll be set.
