kleigh I like the second one of those, a lot!! buckyb that sucks about your MIL. I get that people are excited but why can't they see that this is not their news to share?? My grandmother did a similar thing with DS and this is why she is going to be the last to know this time.
We are not doing a facebook announcement. For telling immediate family (parents and siblings and my *dad's* parents), we got a onesie for DS that says "this boy is getting promoted to big brother." I'm mobile so can't post a pic, sorry...it's very similar to the others that appear in this thread
Other than that we've just been telling friends when we see them. I like to lead in with "Did H tell you his big news?" Because I, too, feel awkward and would rather frame it as coming from him even though he can't talk yet lol.
We'll make phone calls to all other interested friends and family after my NT scan on the 12th if all looks good.
Ladies, I cannot get an image to show up. What am I dong wrong, here?
I have been using the code [*img src="http://Image URL Here" alt="Alt Text"*], less asterisks, and replacing it with my own image URL of course, but the alt text keeps showing for me. I can see others' images, so I know that I don't have images disabled. I've also tried the Insert Image link, nothing. (FYI, I use tiny pics to upload the images.) What am I missing here?

Tinypics is why. They are blocked here because we had a problem with old links turning into porn. Try imagur

Awesome. I am glad I added that, I almost forgot. That makes sense. I was thinking to myself, I know I'm not an idiot. I'm actually fairly computer literate, lol. Thanks, aggiebug!

aggiebug - my nephew is a Halloween baby. He loves it, although he is 5 so take that with a grain of salt
buckyb - that stinks! Why are people so inconsiderate?! We are not formally "announcing" this pregnancy until I'm past my loss milestone and my parents still are telling people. It boggles my mind.
buckyb I am SO SO sorry that MIL did that to you. You might've seen my comment as to why we were doing a FB announcement, same reason - bc MIL thinks it's her place to share our news before we get a chance to. I feel for you, I so do.. People can be no fun some times.
It's not really our news this time, but I still planning on doing a FB announcement, mostly to get all the questions out of the way in one place. IPs are announcing next week during our infertility awareness week so I'll do it after that so I don't spoil their news at all. IM had pics done in a t-shirt that says "Not showing but still glowing" and some with her dogs that say "Mom & Dad are getting us a human!" They are adorable.
I'll get my H to take a blump photo of me this weekend and will post it with a pic that says "Because I have been given much, I too must give." Then obviously a little explanation of what is happening. I'm a little nervous about it since I know there is still some ignorance and stigma (I will cut the first bitch that asks me how much I am making... The answer is $0). But hopefully it will all be good. The responses so far have been very supportive.
ashleysyn I love the way your IPs announced, that's so cute. FTR I think what you are doing is amazing and hopefully you won't have to deal with any hurtful or negative comments from your own acquaintances.

+1 ashleysyn, hopefully it'll be a good education opportunity for those who have never thought about being in that situation.
And if you don't mind me asking, do you plan on pumping BM for the LO after they are born? If you do just say it's none of my business I am OK with that

I think what you are doing is incredible.
Our profiles were shared with each other through an agency. After emailing back and forth for 2 months we decided that we were a good fit for each other!
I plan on pumping right when baby is born, and they are welcome to use it while they are here. I'll do it anyways to make recovery go faster. Then, if they want me to ship it to them afterwards I am more than willing, but only during maternity leave. I'll stop after that.
IM is also looking into induced lactation, which would be amazing.
ashleysyn - is your employer giving you the standard maternity leave? I hope so, you deserve the time to rest and recuperate as much as anyone who gives birth and/or has a new baby. I can just see some employers not knowing how to handle a surrogate situation.
vinolove is right. My employer has to allow me to take the 15 weeks and the government gives me roughly 60% of my wages. The IPs are topping up 8 weeks of wages to 100%, 12 weeks if I have a c-section. I will be well taken care of.
Then, the IPs get the remaining 35 weeks of parental leave, with 60% of their wages as well.
I did my FB announcement last night. Luckily all of the comments were supportive! I also included a little FAQ in the comments: 1. Baby is not genetically related to me. 2. I am not making any money. Paid surrogacy is illegal in Canada. 3. Yes, I expect to bond with the baby, but no, I am not worried about giving it up. It's not mine and I am done with babies! I am just giving this one back.

Has anyone doing anything clever for work? MH's office brings in donuts - it's mostly guys and it's "the sign" that their wife is ku.
I'm considering bringing in bagels and emailing saying they are here and hope people don't mind indulging in some pregnancy cravings? I think last time I just told bosses and everyone heard them yelling in excitement? I forget.
tallblonde Our office isn't too fun in this regard. I told one woman on Tuesday (who I know has a big mouth) and let her spread the news because I'm closest to her and I'm not comfortable to tell people myself but I know people were asking (there were about 5 people who came up and told me they've known/could tell I was).
I think that's a really cute idea!!! Plus free food, everyone loves that ;-)

vinolove def a good point. We are a pretty diverse group age wise and I think I'm safe to say I'm the only woman in the age range to have kids (besides new girl that is dating a guy) But we do have some guys that are recently married that could be trying.
I made this for our FB annoucement but I'm undecided about when to post it. I'll probably wait until after my next appointment at the end of the month.

Let us know what you end up doing tallblonde. I was thinking of doing something at work with food too, but can't decide what. Possibly an order of 'it's a girl' cupcakes from George.town bakery.
