That is so good to know! I didn't even realize that they made a canopy for it and I was just discussing that issue with DH the other day. I just looked it up and the canopy is detachable and can be sold separately. I see lots of park and beach days in our future!

I am a redhead. My husband's beard is red. If this baby doesn't come out a ginger, I'll be speechless. 

Needless to say, I am on a constant lookout for anything that will protect her from any amount of sun. haha

Ok I swear this is going to be the last thing I will post about what I AM going to buy in this thread about what we AREN'T going to buy! I saw this umbrella shade the other week at buy buy baby and I think I might get this too. This looks like it provides much more serious shade protection. Me + kiddos are also in serious need of staying out of the sun!

You definitely don't need those things either. DS slept in the pack n play for a really long time and it worked out great. Which model did you get? Some of them have the changing area attached, which I found super convenient. It was easy to take off at night when he was sleeping too.

Haven't bought one yet! Cue my panic-mode. The one on our registry has the changing table, also a place to store clothes when the baby is little and still using the bassinet feature, and an attached diaper caddy. My DH calls it the "Cadillac of pack'n'plays)

No wipe or bottle warmer here, either! No baby food makers or special things to make baby food, I just bought it. I might attempt to make it this time since I'll have the time to save money, but the store bought stuff is perfectly healthy and I had no problem buying it last time.

We are using a dresser as a changing table. I am borrowing a RNP from a friend for the early days. We have been gifted a swing, bouncer, and have a bumbo from last time.

No to the bottle warmer and wipe warmer.

Though now that I think about it, I have no idea how MH warmed up breast milk when I was away. Or if he did?

Dd1 hated her bouncer, so I gave it away. No bottle warmers, no wipe warmers, no bumpers. I didn't have a rock and play with my first, but was gifted one by a friend that we may use this time around. It doesn't feel like a necessity. I have the matching bedding quilt and pillow with my first, that we've completely skipped with this one. All I have is a cute sheet.

It didn't even cross my mind to consider a bouncer, swing, mamaroo, bumboo, etc (I don't even know what half of these things are! And clearly I don't know how to spell them either). No wipe or bottle warmer either.

I did get a hand-me-down rock'n'play from my cousin, which is nice if he likes it because I can use it as a portable bassinet when we visit family, etc.

I would consider at least one of the bolded to put baby in. I don't think all three would be needed. All we had was a bouncy seat. 

Does the rock'n'play count? Also, I have a reclining high-chair that can hold a newborn.

ETA also the pack'n'play we're getting comes with a "newborn napper" which looks basically like a bouncer to me.

Are you going to have the baby sleeping in the napper attachment? We have this and it just seems awfully plush and reclined. Is this safe? Am I being a crazy FTM?

This thread is making me want to buy a baby jail and try to score a rock n play even though I'm in Canada (could get one in Buffalo).

We have a mobile (wanted it more for me because it's adorable), but no crib bumbers, changing table, wipe warmers or bottle warmers.

frecklesnbrains, They can only be on the RNP until they are about 25lbs. I think the pack n play would serve the purpose of containing baby safely while you are doing things around your place without needing to get additional equipment.

No warmers. No baby food maker. No bumpers (safety reason), no double stroller, oh wait no anything. I literally haven't bought a thing. We do have a lot of stuff from ds though and I couldn't have survived without my rnp! I swear by that thing especially the newer model that rocks by itself. I also would suggest getting a mirror for the car to see baby in the car seat. I will not be getting sun shades for the car because they didn't work for ds. Also suggest: nose freida. Sorry I know we're supposed to say what we aren't getting.

I have no idea! We don't have it yet so I'd have to see. It looks like a bouncer to me based on the pictures I've seen so it would be used more as a baby-holder-around-the-house, and we'll use the bassinet or rock'n'play for sleeping.

And if you're a crazy FTM then I'm right alongside you!

No rock n play. I think my friend might be lending us a momaroo.
No bumpers or mobile.
No bumbo.
No changing pad/changing table. I always found it more convenient to do changes on the floor/bed
No infant car seat. We start out right with a convertible car seat

No wipes/bottle warmer. I mostly breastfed DS but he got one bottle a day. We just ran the bag or bottle under warm to get the chill out, he wasn't picky.

No mobile

No rock n play, I got one as a gift with DS and returned it. My friend had such a tough time transitioning her son to the crib after using it so I didn't even want to deal with that.

No double stroller, or at least that's my plan. We shall see.

I was going to suggest the Fisher Price frog sit me up chair, which I think is much better for their hips than a Bumbo (although I do have a Bumbo from DS).

Yes, I really liked it!! Someone gave it to me when he was a few months old and I'm glad to have it!

Add me as one who isn't planning to get a double stroller. DS will be 4 and really doesn't use it now. I figure if we're in a position of needing a stroller, we'll either rent one, borrow one, or he'll use the stroller and I'll wear the baby. Get back me though after our first trip to the zoo!


Another thing I remembered that I really, really wanted for DS and realize now that I definitely didn't need was a diaper stacker. We got a table top organizer that was awesome and I can't imagine having to fumble with a diaper stacker in the middle of the night.

I'm impressed! We depended on our infant car seat with the first in order to do anything/go anywhere. With twins, it probably won't be as convenient so I'm hoping I get skilled at using the moby wrap for outings.

We are skipping the double for now too. We took DS to an amusement park last weekend for just an afternoon and "forgot" it at home and he did fine after his initial disappointment.

We also had an activity chair that was better than the Bumbo for DS and may get one again depending on this LO's temperament. DS always wanted to be sitting or standing and looking around, not laying down, so we had lots of ways for him to sit (jumperoo, activity chair, Boppy, etc.).

We haven't bought much gear for this LO as we kept all of DS's gear like the swing (DS rarely used it), jumperoo, carseat, crib, stroller, boppy, clothes, etc. We did buy a new video monitor as the battery in the old one was dead and it was something I cared about.

When DD was younger I always just had a carrier in the car. She's actually always hated being in the car/car seat and has always wanted to be held so it worked out well for us. We'll see how it goes with this baby. Especially since the 1.5 yo still doesn't listen so usually needs to be carried when we're in parking lots/busy places.
We're also skipping the double stroller. Prior to getting pregnant I almost never used the stroller. I still don't use it that often now but will for walks to the park. I am planning on just wearing baby #2 and letting the toddler ride her push trike
