My first will be red wine and the day I get home from the hospital. I miss it so so much!
For FTM who want to nurse here is what I found to be fine but clearly I'm no expert.....
The first day home from the hospital I had a small glass and started it right after a feeding and just drank it slow. I never felt buzzed so there was no affect on baby but it felt freeing to be able to have that drink and tasted so so amazing!!
It depends on a few things: warm and sunny: gin and tonic with extra lime cold and wet: cabernet pretty much any weather: imperial pale ale, such as Dogfish Head 120min IPA with brunch: mimosa with tacos: margarita on the rocks with GOOD tequila, hold the salt with pizza: ice cold pilsner
Andrea, you're my FRIEND with the milk stout! There's actually a bottle of nitro that's been sitting in our fridge for the past 8+ months. I didn't finish the 6-pack before my BFP and DH doesn't like dark beers.
Dogfish Head 120min IPA!! After 9-10 months of not drinking, I'd be drunk after just half a bottle.

You guys they don't sell 120 in NC. I try to get it to my husband every time someone we know goes up North. It is his all time favorite.
I feel like we should have a birth announcements post on the board like every other birth month, but we should also have an announcement post for our first postpartum drink as well
Making a note of this for the future since nothing fun is allowed in NC.
The closest I have been able to get it has been DC!
Dogfish head brewery is in the great state of Delaware, which is not notable for much else other than some decent beaches. Conveniently, my sister just moved to Delaware. I think I know what we're doing when I go visit her
Anyway, I'm surprised that it hasn't migrated further south. It's very easy to find in New England, which is equidistant. So sad for you guys
Oh goodness this thread is awesome! Some great choices! Nitro Milk Stout is delicious, but I think I am going to have to go with a sparkling Rose. Rose is my summer drink of choice and I want all the bubbles! There is a little wine shop about a 5 min walk from our apartment so I am looking forward to picking out some good ones!

Equidistant is my new word of the day. Thanks for always teaching me something, frecklesnbrains

For the record, I plan on drinking while breastfeeding. Not a lot, of course, but one carefully timed drink? Yup.
Also, for the record, I'm not really as much of a boozer as my posts would imply, but I do consider alcoholic beverages like food. I'm a total foodie and love all the different tastes, combinations, and ethnic traditions. Beverages are just an extension of that. I plan on eating sushi and raw milk cheese after delivery too, for the same reason.

NC has a law prohibiting the sale of beers with more than 15% ABV, 120 has between 18-20% so we have to buy it out of state. MH has one bottle left, which will be his drink of choice once Owen arrives
The rule used to be 6% so we are making progress...especially with the huge boom in craft beer breweries NC has experienced.

Oh wow, that's really really lame!
Yep! MH has been to the brewery in Delaware, the last time he went they were out. He almost cried. So we jump at the chance of obtaining it whenever we can
I want a cucumber margarita and chips and salsa at one of my favorite Mexican places. And a mojito. And also a nice glass of white wine while sitting out on the deck.
I am not a big drinker but it seems every time I get pregnant I want a drink. I've been sniffing my DH's red wine. I've also been craving margaritas. I am not sure when I will have my first drink but those two will be at the top of my list.
My last drink was a pineapple jalepeno margarita. It was was my first drink in two years due to pregnancy and nursing. It was heavenly. I got my BFP exactly one week later.
Just want to share my excitement at seeing the Dogfish mentions!! I grew up pretty close to there so even though I have no affiliation with them at all, it excites me to see the local guys get a nod!
I also have high school friends who opened a brewery in my hometown not too long ago, and I can't wait to be able to try some of their stuff!
Probably an IPA. Nice weather makes me crave beer. I would also loooove champagne at the hospital. Then shortly after I will have this mixed drink that my MIL always makes me; vodka, limoncello, soda, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and an orange peel. Summer in a glass.

One of my favorite restaurants has a margarita flight with regular, coconut, amaretto, and "the lobo" (named after the town college mascot). I'm not a big drinker, but I could go for that.

This.thread.is.everything!! I can't wait to have a drink (who am I kidding ALL the drinks!) This is what I asked about during my BF class. I have been craving the seasonal summer craft beers and my fave cucumber mint gin cocktail...this is specially true when I'm lounging in the pool.
Is it bad that the hospital that I am delivering at allows alcohol. And that they provide a bottle of champagne with a special dinner on the last night of your stay?
I plan to partake. But, I want an IPA or a rattler or a shandy. Or maybe a nice pinot noir. Perseco with raspberries in it. Actually I will take anything at this point.
Bad?! No that's freaking awesome!! I want to deliver there!
