My body is broken. I feel sick today with tummy troubles. I'm hoping I feel better because dh and I have a date night tonight. I think we might see a movie.
Cozy day over here. I made French toast for breakfast and we had fancy Manchego cheese, chips, nuts, and beer for lunch (LO had turkey hot dogs with ketchup and fancy cheese). Made fresh pasta with roasted garlic, kielbasa, Brussels sprouts, and a bit of Parmesan for dinner yesterday. Yummy stuff.
LO is being super cute but has started using screaming/crying to communicate when she doesn't know how to say it, which is super frustrating. That and she says "no, no, no!!" Etc. Hopefully this is the step where she realizes she needs to learn how to say things, ha. In the past week or two she has also been all about doing things by herself and gets angry if you try to help. She's also cutting her molars, a bunch of teeth are sprouting up at once, so crankiness levels are high. Slightly exhausting. But when she's talking actual words it's soooo cute.
It's dark and drizzly but I took her to the park and let her free range for a while.
landonsmom15 congrats to YH! What grade does he want to teach in the future? I teach first grade
He likes upper elementary, so 4th-6th. His student teaching was with 5th and then 4th. Although, he does have an interview for a 2nd grade position next week.
LO is fighting a desperately needed nap hardcore right now. It's a yucky day outside. Our trip to the farm is cancelled bkmama0, my LO has very few words right now (I'm a little concerned actually) and the screaming to communicate is real. I am eager for him to pick up some more words so he isn't as frustrated
At MyGym this morning!
Putting the kid to work
I bought finger paint, painter tape and a canvas to have LO create this for my mom for Mother's Day. First shot was an epic fail- he cannot stand anything slimy or sticky on his hands and freaked out big time. I bought him some big paint brushes and he did this before freaking out about paint getting on him. ashlantic I remember you doing some sensory tubs with your LO (maybe?) what kinds of things have you tried? The teacher in me is obviously now concerned about sensory issues (and speech!)
Stick a fork in me. Had a great lunch at an italian restaurant. It was for my nephews 1st communion. It was vute, the place was full of little boys in suits and girls in white dresses. Best part was fried zucchinni apps and profiterols with ice cream as dessert. Leo behaved for the most part but towards the end was antsy. As bkmama0 put it, he needs to be free ranged for a while. Get the energy outta him!

I taught 2nd before as well as K. I think you're either a k-2 person or an upper grade person- the big kids scare me!! GL to YH on his interview!
@bkmama we're hearing lots of "no" and frustrated squealing here too. I was at my wit's end last week, she was saying no to absolutely everything, even when she meant yes. Luckily this week her favorite word is "hello" which is so much cuter sgio7485 How many words does your LO have? I can empathize as I've been concerned about F not walking, but she just took off in the past week. It's hard when you compare your LO to other babies but I can't help it.

He says mama, dada, buhbye, ball (more like buh). He roars and growls - haha. None of these are super consistent. He says "uh huh" when he means yes and shakes his head. He signs more, milk, and all done and has a phenomenal receptive vocabulary. I brought it up at his one year and then his 15 month appts. Our pedi wasn't concerned at this point but I definitely compare him to other babies and as a teacher it's hard not to think of things that could be wrong. He has a diagnosed lip and tongue tie and that makes me worry about speech even more, although they're functional and the ENT said it could be an articulation issue in the future but probably not.

landonsmom15 congrats to YH! dashook yay for naps! BabyStandish I hope you felt better and are off on your date night bkmama0 Mmmm can I come over for breakfast next weekend? we are in a screaming phase too...hope it passes quick! sgio7485 sorry your trip was cancelled! We've had rain for almost the entire week!! Also B's vocabulary is pretty similar to your Lo's. He's finally (like last couple days) trying to repeat what we say more but not very successfully most times. Same as you though he seems to understand a lot of what we say to him so I'm not worrying about it yet. ourcrazynavylife glad you made your class! littlelion lunch sounds yummy! We definitely have a time limit of how long B will last when we are out! megpie5 she's getting to be such a little girl!!

Busy day today! Still unpacking and trying to get the place together for company tomorrow. I'm sticking Mh with night and morning baby duty for Mother's Day! (Let's hope B will accept that, since he's been so clingy to me lately!)

Yeah my doctor said he wouldn't even assess her speech or walking until 18 months since they go through huge developmental leaps between 12-18 months. One of my co workers just started her 3 year old in speech therapy, but he couldn't even say "mama" or "Dada" at 2. I know it's just anecdotal but I wouldn't worry just yet

They say girls are faster than boys at verbal stuff and I think that's generally true. Ch has more words than a little boy at her daycare who is a good 3-4 months older than her, and he's perfectly normal. A lot of the little boys are pretty one-word-y even up till 3 from what I've seen at her daycare, whereas the girls are chatter boxes. It sounds like there's no need to worry just yet! I think the fact that he's clearly interacting is a good sign.
sgio7485 this is just my experience so take it how you will. I know the my DD was way more verbal then LO was at this age. I have spoke to the pedi about it and she said that is very common. That being said even though DD was very verbal and had lots of words we still have to take her into speech therapy for a frontal lisp. Go with your gut and what you feel is right. If you would feel better with him getting evaluated, do it for your peace of mine mama. *hugs* because the worry never ends.
sgio7485 my lo hated paint the first few times we did it. Even now when he uses markers he still scowls at his hands when they get dirty. For sensory bins I've put in uncooked rice or cornstarch/water mixture. All messy, but he loved it. I made play doh for him to play with too. Hugs, I know it sucks to worry about your lo especially with a teacher brain! I agree with nemomof2, if it'll give you peace if mind, push for an eval. I think that since he's got such great receptive language and does communicate with you guys he's likely ok.
