First let me start by thanking everyone for the care packages I have been receiving. They are so thoughtful and are going to be key in keeping me sane while I am in here. . The gift card is great, I plan on downloading some books in the next few days. My nook will get a big workout the next few weeks. . The lotion and lip balm were also great touches. You forget how dry the air is in hospitals. I had forgotten to tell my husband to bring lotion and the balm I had wasn't helping much (my husband would comment on my cracked and bleeding lips). The pillow is awesome (my FIL was jealous, he said he needed a pillow like that). Right now I am always hot (despite it being about 65 degrees in my room) and having a cool pillow is fantastic! I broke out the coloring book yesterday, I didn't get far backseat my attention span is short, but I think once I settle in coloring will be a great activity for me. The loom looks so cool. My husband has requested that I make him a hat, though I may start with some tiny baby hats first.
Things have been pretty stable the last few days. I haven't had any new bleeding episodes and the spotting from my last episode has gotten lighter. They switched my BP meds and it has been mostly under control, although I had a few high readings last night (150s/upper 90s). The baby looks great. Her BPPs have all been 8/8 and she looks good on her NSTs. I had an Doppler u/s on Friday and her blood flow looked improved, but still not ideal. I think the big test will be seeing how she looks on her next growth scan in a few weeks.
Yesterday the NICU docs came in to discuss what would happen were she delivered early. Most of it I was aware of, but it was nice to hear the plans laid out. If she is delivered before 32 weeks she will likely be transferred to our local Children's hospital. He discussed the different types of oxygen support, intubation, C Pap, and cannula. He described some of the different types of complications/tests she would need (brain scans to check for bleeds and vision tests). He recommended that I visit the NICU here at the hospital and my husband visit Children's if possible. Hopefully this is all unnecessary precaution, but it was helpful. I like being prepared.
Thank you again for the care packages and the love and support. The last few weeks have been a bumpy ride, but knowing so many people are here for me makes it all a bit easier to handle. I feel lucky to have such a great support system.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
