I love research. I am so deep in convertible car seats right now. Ask me absolutely anything about which car seats allow for ERF, are good for tall kids, and don't eat up driver leg room.
DH and his friends just loaded up our first batch of stuff for storage. Now the house can be staged and listed. No clue where the hell we're going to live if it sells right away, but here goes nothing.
Good luck!
We are listing June 1. We spent all weekend doing little repairs and packing stuff for storage. We rented a unit today and took two car loads! Still a lot to box up though.

I found this list incredibly helpful. We have hated how much back to front space our bucket took up and wanted to make sure we avoided the same issue with the convertible, as much as possible.
So, my current leading contenders are the Maxi Cosi Jool (same as the Maxi Cosi Pria, but named differently in Canada for some reason), and the Britax Marathon Clicktight (not G4.1). I love the safety reviews of the Britax, though I am perhaps a bit concerned about leg room. The Maxi Cosi is also impressive looking.
Edit. And the Diono Radian RXT so long as the angle adjuster isn't difficult to use

We have the Britax Boulevard click tight which has the same footprint as the marathon with some extra padding on the seat/headrest of the car seat. It's stupid easy to install, Asher seems to love it, and it fits in MH's Corolla with plenty of leg room. Just FWIW.
We're actually getting a second one for my car - tentatively at the end of summer (for just first birthday) when he'll outgrow the infant bucket.

London - you are awesome. I started doing the same thing you did with the same lists but got overwhelmed quickly. I read somewhere that the Marathon wasn't recommended for tall kids for ERF (and to go with the Boulevard instead). Did you see something different?

I believe they are the same in terms of a child's legroom, but the Boulevard has a head rest that extends higher.

What euphony said. I am perpetually confusing them. I meant to say Boulevard.
emejay so scary! Glad he is fine! London we have a Diono with angle adjuster and the angle adjuster couldn't be easier to use. It's literally a piece of foam you slide under that back part of the seat.
****loss and living child discussed***** We're queer. I'm 34, have severe stage 4 endo, and both fallopian tubes are gone. My love ("Manada" 33) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tav.in and Ca.sey at 21 weeks gestation.

And did it make a noticeable difference? The Diono is SUCH a boat I am terrified it will still gobble up room with the adjuster.
Ellis seems to be entering a sleep regression. Night two of her crawling around her crib until 8:30pm. Good times. Not looking forward to her doing it in the middle of the night soon! I made meatloaf for dinner. I should do it more often. So easy and super yummy!

Yes a huge difference. Our front seat can be almost all the way back with the angle adjust. Waaaay better than the bucket seat

I bought the Marathon without any research and my tall kid already has his feet on the bench.
We'll probably buy another seat when A start daycare and keep the marathon in SO'S car.
I love that we are all doing the same crazy car seat research. I had pretty much decided on the Clicktight Boulevard, but the Maxi Cosi Jool is one I haven't looked in to. Machine washable cover might trump easy install. Must investigate.
healz413, just catching up on things. I'm sorry for your fall. I did that a month or two ago and my heart was on my throat. So scary. Babies are tougher than they look, and I am glad everyone is ok.

Warning: the Maxi Cosi is beautiful. Like, one of those fat cherubs painted in the Sistine Chapel. I have to conciously remind myself that there is more to both life and car seats than looks.

It is a nice looking seat, but reading up on it I am concerned whether it will be the best option for a tall child. I have a giant of near Arthurian proportions. This is such a hard decision!

Have you found anything suggesting it's not great for taller kids? I've found a few (http://carseatblog.com/11231/draft-dorel-maxi-cosi-pria-70-convertible-review/) that suggest it's deep for long legged littles. I have been searching details on "Pria" since there are more American reviews.

Maybe it is just a matter of whether a child is tall in the trunk or in the limbs. I did notice the rear-facing height limit is 3" shorter than the Boulevard, but I know that Britax aren't know for leg room.
I need to ask the S15 nurses a question. I took care of a patient today that has mumps. I've been vaccinated, but I'm worried about bringing it home to O since our LOs are too young for the MMR shot. I wiped down everything he touched and I will change my clothes before I touch my LO. He didn't cough or sneeze on me. How much should I be worried?
I wouldn't be overly worried. Part of the reason everyone should be vaccinated (apart of protecting yourself) is for herd immunity. So as long as you're vaccinated you shouldn't be able to be a carrier and therefore can't bring it home to Owen.
This is why vaccinations are my hill to die on. Babies and immunocompromised people that are not a candidate for the vaccination can still gain protection if those around them are vaccinated.
Anyone else's LO still have cradle cap? It seems to come and go with Dani, but she is having a pretty bad bout of it right now. I was using her special comb to get the scales off her head and there was just SO much. DH actually commented on how "yellow" her scalp looked this morning, and he never notices stuff like that.

We went out to our trailer for the weekend so MH could help my dad finish one of the buildings he's building out at the farm. Layla was amazing and it was like a little getaway.
Now I'm exhausted but my sister is coming over at 8 so that we can make her bouquets for her wedding. This is the first wedding thing she has done yet, and the wedding is on the 29th.
AND my MCAT books will be here tomorrow so I can start studying!!! My dad works very closely with the doctor who is in charge of the residency program at the university and he said he has already contacted him to see if I can do a few shadow days to help me make connections. I can't believe my dream might actually be happening!

Yes, Miss G still has it. What is this special comb of which you speak? The flakes get stuck in her hair.

Z still does. Though it has gotten much better. He had it really bad until about 4/5 months. But in certain spots he still has it under his hair.

+2 for cradle cap. A's never went away, despite comb and various treatment attempts. Her hair is thick enough you only notice if you're looking for it. I do admit I never got aggressive about it.
Ugh impromptu sleep training tonight. He woke at 9:00, I fed him and he went back to sleep. Woke again at 10:00 and after a few snuggles I put him in his crib and he was not happy. So now we cio. It needed to be done after all his illnesses we got lax about putting him down drowsy. But I forgot how much sleep training sucks. And he keeps rolling into the crib and knocking his head.
