I have to plan (alone) my friend's shower. The thing is, she'll have two of them since she moved here to be with SO'S brother and her friends and family back home will do a big one.
I'm trying to plan a small, low key shower. We'll be approximately 15 and will do it as a brunch.
So far, I've dispatched brunch food amongst the other ladies and have planned to do a mimosa bar.
I don't want to do the traditional games. MIL will bring two canvases for people to take part in painting for the baby's room. What else can we do? What did you do that was fun at your shower?
My favourite shower game was The Price is Right: Baby Edition. My friend bought 10 small baby items (box of mummums, package of spoons, rubber ducky, etc) and everyone had to write down what they thought it cost. Closest without going over won a prize (and I got to keep the baby stuff).

We did it at my shower so I'm trying to not do the same things again. I feel like the more friends will have babies, the harder it will be to plan these showers!!
My only opinion/advice is to make all games optional. I highly dislike when everyone has to stop chatting and mingling to play a game. I like it when I can go over and participate when/if I am ready.
We did the price is right game at my shower and it was good. I also often see the one where peolple try to guess the size of the belly by cutting a piece of ribbon to the right size and it always seems to be a hit.

If you do the guess the belly size one, PLEASE make sure the mother to be is okay with it. I had some issues with body image while pregnant (I felt huge, people constantly told me I was small) and this game would have not been good for my mental health.

It's also better just to cut lengths of string rather than guess measurements. Numbers suck.

+1 to this. We did this at my shower and it was fun. Plus then the items went to me for the baby.
We did the diaper decorating at one shower and the bib one at another. Both were fun. I'd do the diaper over the bibs though. I now have a million bibs that I won't use much.

That's what I meant. I guess my explanation skills are rough lol. Gotta work on that before September.
We did a write on the diapers for my shower with A. It was fun to read all the messages after the fact.
I went to one shower were we played "guess the baby food". It was pretty funny. And another - grosser version - where we played "what's in the poop". They put melted chocolate bars in a bunch of diapers and people tried to guess the chocolate bar. They looked NASTY!

@kbeazley I love the message on the diapers idea!
My favorite game is to get a bunch of different chocolate candy bars, and melt each one in a diaper. Then everyone has to look at the "poopy diapers" and guess which candy bars they are !
Although this may not go too well with the sophisticated vibe of your mimosa brunch...lol
We took baby pictures of family members from both parents and guests had to guess which baby picture was which family member...an answer bank was provided. You could do that with celebrities, too.

This was the only game I did NOT want at my shower!
We didn't do games. People hung out, ate a ton (my sister did three courses of food), and opened presents.
I just went to a shower and we made headbands! It was fun. Only works if she's having a baby girl obviously.
You can buy a "kit" of headband stuff on etsy. They had everything set up on a long table with a few hot glue guns and a size chart for how long to cut for newborn- 1+ years. Super cute and now my friend has tons of headbands for her little girl.

Oh yes my boss did this for my work shower! I loved it!
