I put her to bed by 7:30 most nights. She is very tired by this point, and I know I could rock her to sleep in ten minutes or less. Instead, when she gets in her bed she'll roll and kick and sing sometimes until 9. She isn't upset, she just entertains herself. It just bothers me that she loses an hour and a half of sleep this way. Do your kids do this?

DD1 started doing that around 2 or 2.5 maybe? So a little older. I honestly left her be. She wasn't napping excessively. She wasn't upset. It didn't stop until she dropped her nap at 4.
If you are really bothered by it, any chance she's overtired? Or that an 8 bedtime would get her tired enough that she'd knock it off earlier?
It depends on the day for Nora. Sometimes she's out once we put her down and sometimes its 45min of rolling around and kicking the wall. Usually, it's quicker if she's had a more active day/afternoon.
A will either fall asleep super fast or run to the door and stand there screaming his head off. We haven't hit the entertaining himself to sleep phase yet.
I still nurse DS to sleep, which I don't have a problem with most nights. However, tonight was slightly unusual. He had a late nap, and punished me by wanting to nurse/cuddle for over an hour. I was so over it. Usually I nurse him and lay with him for a half an hour or less depending on the timing and length of his nap that day. He falls asleep most nights between 8:00 and 8:30.
Thanks for all the helpful answers! I figure I'll just leave her alone because I don't want to go back to having to put her all the way to sleep each night. My H insists that she's just learning during that time, which is a cute possibility! I like that she plays by herself because buring the day she will only play truly by herself for a few minutes. Otherwise she needs us to be right by her side lol. Maybe as we get outside more and more in the summer she'll be extra tired and sleep faster!

Once we leave her room, probably no more than 10 minutes, most nights. We chat quietly with her or sing songs for about 10 mins before leaving her room. That seems to be just enough for her.

It depends on how tired he is. But I'd say 30 minutes as an average time. It does surprise me some days though because he knocks out faster for naps then for bedtime.
DS will usually take 30 mins (we stay with him until he's alseep), but he will take 1+ hours if he naps too long/late. I wake him up now, if he's napping past 3:30.
Depends on the day, sometimes ten minutes, sometimes over an hour.
Same. I don't let it bother me as long as he isn't crying. It's kind of cute, actually. I like to let him take a book to bed so he can flip through it and "read" for a bit before he lays down.

Usually not at all. He's either super quiet and straight to sleep or the occasional crying. But, he also takes a short nap and is very tired at bedtime most nights.
Bedtime is at 7 and it's usually Like 5 minutes. Ds has always loved sleep and sometimes asks if we'll put him to bed. DD will be a whole nother story. But on the off nights he doesn't go right to sleep he is usually just talking which doesn't bother me and has gone on for awhile before.
Bedtime is 8pm, DS used to love being rocked to sleep, but now leaps out of my arms into his crib. He says his family members names for 3-10 minutes before he falls asleep.
