Hello ladies and welcome to the night owls edition of j16! We used to do this on my other board because a lot of us were up half the night feeding or extremely uncomfortable at the ends of our pregnancies. I think I have gotten a total of like 25 min sleep tonight/this morning. I just got out of the shower because my heartburn/acid reflux was so bad every time I moved I thought I was going to vomit. Thank goodness we bought a sofa with a chaise because here I am sitting up to try and "sleep". When I got up I walked around my house for about 10 minutes thinking this might be it, but no water and no contrax so I think it's just the pizza I ate. So....anyone else up?
I'm up I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I had spicy Mexican food last night and I have major heart burn. I've been up for two hours and now finally feeling tired enough to fall back asleep. Hope you get some rest!
I should have come on here. I keep getting this terrible pain down my left side every night. I've tried pillows and chiropractor. I can only get relief sitting up but then my mid back starts to hurt. Needless to say not much sleeping is happening here either! I did find this though that made me laugh...
I put some black out curtains up in DDs room last night so I'm hoping she sleeps in a little so I can at least rest a bit longer.
I'm usually up from 3-5 these days, I'll check in next time. Sorry for all those who also can't sleep! I'm also getting really bad heartburn at night now, which I haven't had since first tri, when it was so bad that I would unsnap my bra in public because I was in so much pain.

Oh I missed this thread too. Last night I learned what "cluster feeding" is. Basically it's when your screaming newborn latches himself to your sore nipples for 12 hours straight in a desperate attempt to get every drop of milk out of your breasts when your milk really hasn't come in yet, and screams bloody murder if you pull him off because you need to go to the bathroom or something like that.
frecklesnbrains was it his second or third night post birth? Our nurses warned us about "second night syndrome" which was basically her screaming any time someone wasn't holding her. Hopefully tonight is better for you!

Yup, 2nd night post birth. He was clearly ravenous and mom was doing nothing for him... Feeds have gone well today though, so maybe my milk is starting to come in? I don't feel engorged at all though. Time will tell!
How long does one typically stay in the hospital after childbirth?! I feel like I should know this, but I really don't.....
I had her at about 2pm and stayed that night and the next. It seems longish in retrospect, for an uncomplicated birth, but I had no idea what I was doing at the time, caring-for-infant-wise. So I was fine with it.
Flair Underwood, I think for an uncomplicated vaginal birth, insurance usually cover 2 nights. I'm in the minority in that I like time in the hospital, so I hope to get two full days there. Last time I was really only there one evening and one full day, and I felt so overwhelmed and not ready to leave when I got discharged.
I delivered at 3:30am and was released at 4pm the next day. So 24.5 hours after delivery. I requested an early release though. I did NOT like being at the hospital. I wanted to be at home.
This time, knowing I have a wild maniac 3 year old at home - I may be more inclined to stay an extra night. We shall see.
