Re: 9 month stats, we have not had A in for a formal "check up" since she was about 5 months. Our family doctor is 3 hours away, and because there is a giant wait list for a family doctor here we haven't been able to find a new one. We get her shots done at the Public Health Unit, there are two clinics where we could go for an accute issue (rash, ear infection, etc) and of course the hospital for anything serious. I can also get her weight checked at baby wellness drop-in clinics.
If all of this is in place, and I missing anything crucial but not having routine checkups as frequently? I feel like past check ups were just a place for measurements, shots if required, and then "do you have any questions or concerns?"
G hasn't been latching well on the one side and falling asleep while eating. It's caused some nipple pain and I had bleeding last week. I figured it was poor latch and have been making sure that he's only latching well.
It seemed to be getting better but this morning I woke up and my boob was in searing pain. I've never had mastitis before but Dr google is coming up with a similar diagnosis, so hopefully I can get into my Dr today.

I skipped DDs 9mo and probably would with G too (if I didn't have to go anyway).

Also I feel your pain re: long waits. I moved away from my home town for work but planned on returning in a few years. I refused initially to change doctors since I didn't want to have to get a different one when I went back home (a city notorious for a lack of family physicians).
When my family Dr found out that I was driving almost 2hrs each way to see him, he promised me that I could come back when I moved back to town.
Now I'm back in town and he did take me back, but his assistant was a dick about it because he's so overfull already.
Knitter that is my exact situation. My family doctor has said if things get too complicated she will try and hold a spot for us. So far it has been ok though. Andplusalso an excuse to go home

Ugh I'm not feeling well this morning. I definitely did not get enough sleep last night but then when do I ever?
Callie has been wheezing a little bit lately but no other symptoms. It's not often but it happens a few times a day and DH noticed that she did it in her sleep a few nights ago. In the past she would gasp when she would get excited but now she seems to do it more frequently. Asthma runs DH's family and he has it as well but it's not severe. I've never had asthma so I don't know exactly what to look for. Every time we have been to the pedi, they said her lungs have sounded fine. DH also mentioned sleep apnea. All of this makes me anxious and makes me want to take her to the pedi this afternoon but idk if I'm being paranoid or not.
London other than weight & shots my dr asks questions about milestones and then just asks if we have concerns. If you aren't worried about her not hitting milestones I wouldn't worry.
AFM we had an appointment with a pediatric optometrist yesterday because Freya still has clogged tear ducts. The place was a zoo and we were there for an hour & a half. Looking like surgery for her to put tubes in and open them up. Boo.

They won't diagnosis asthma until she's much older....like 4/5 I think. No clue on sleep apnea. I would call the nurse line at your pedi office & see what they say. It could be allergies too?
southernpeach89, if I was in your situation, I'd record the next wheezing episode, then get into the doc to show them. Whenever we were in for croup, Anna would be coughing up a storm and gasping on the way there ... and then poof! Perfectly fine while in the clinic. Then we get home ... and we're right back to it. Like when you take your car to the mechanic and it stops acting up. Maybe they'll let you send the recording to them for review to see if you even need to come in.

britbratjf, Yea I was thinking about allergies back when her voice was a little raspy a few weeks ago and her throat was a bit irritated. I'll give the nurse line a call today and see what they say.
cowplanet, That's a good suggestion on recording it. I'll have to see if I can get one tonight.
Got the bills in for A's tubes. U.S. healthcare is so messed up. We get the itemized hospital bill, nothing looks weird there. Then we get a separate bill from the anesthesiologist ... even though that is also one of the hospital charges. They're also in different amounts. Then we get a third bill from the ENT who performed the surgery, which, ok, she needs paid, but then why is there an itemized line for the surgery itself on the hospital bill too? There's the room charge, supply charge, anesthesia charge, pharmaceutical charge (overpriced Tylenol), staff charge, etc. The non-hospital bills are from each person's private clinic or office. No wonder our system is so expensive and fraught with errors.

A has reactive airway disease (RAD). They don't diagnose asthma until school age (we were told 5/6), but the symptoms are essentially the same. For us, we need to watch for shallow breaths, gasping. We watch her stomach to see if it's raising up and down rapidly and/or really noticeable. We count how many breaths she takes in a minute, if it's high then we give inhaler. She's also on daily inhaler. They don't even diagnose RAD until there have been 3 "episodes." Although ours was 2, both required hospitalization.
I'd call the dr for reassurance, but it doesn't sound like RAD. Is it exacerbated when she gets sick or in extreme cold/hot weather? Those are our "watch" times. Family history is very significant to our allergist, so it's good to be aware.
cowplanet so there's a tube from the corner of your eyes that drains down into your sinuses. That's what clogged and why her eyes don't drain well and get so goopy. So to open them up they put a tube in, basically just like they do in the ears, for 6 months.
I'm soooo tired. C really needs to sleep through the damn night, or even four hour stretches. Waking up every 2-3 hours is killing me.
We've only got 3.5 days of school left. It's crazy busy and exciting. I'm so ready for Summer and so are the kids. I kind of love this part because all assessments are done and we can do the fun/creative things that Kinder should be doing.
MH wants to tell our parents about the pregnancy this weekend. I'm really worried about a miscarriage and would like to wait until after the scan on Tuesday. But, we'd probably tell them anyway so I don't know. I'm having a really hard time processing this. I'm excited about being pregnant but at the same time I don't feel like we'll be bringing a baby home in January. Maybe that's just shock talking or pgal brain.

My family doctor retired and we have not been replaced with anyone. SO and I are on the waiting list but it could take years!
We're lucky that doctors will open spot for babies though!
Re 9 months: I admit to like these appointment to know A's stat and I want to discuss his reactions to tomatoes

MH's cousin had her twins last night! She went nearly 38 weeks, the boy is 7~lbs, girl is 6~lbs. Impressive! H is grumbly because the girl's name is a longer variation of Anna's. Pretty sure we're not being "copied", but he's bothered just the same.
This Christmas we'll have an almost 3-year-old, a 1-year-old, two 7-month-olds, and a 2-month-old! Last year even the youngest kid (late elementary?) had found out the truth about Santa, so the grandparents were all sad that some of the magic was gone. Now they're excited for the next round of kiddos. I'm excited I won't have to pump and be scolded for not being part of the party but also abandoned if I attempt to nurse in the fray. And I can't wait to snuggle my SIL's little squish (who will be 2 months)!
Vey happy with the new law starting today in QC: no smoking on terraces, prohibited to smoke in a car when there's a minor present and no smoking where there are playards in parks!
I have cramps from hell. My periods were no big deal before having Dani, and now they're horrible. I don't think my contractions were this bad, mainly because I got a break in between. Advil/heating pad combo isn't making the slightest bit of a difference either.

Good luck and I hope it's nothing!
Thank you for this. It has happened more actually when she isn't sick and both in hot/cold weather. I've watched her breaths before and at times they seem rapid and I can definitely see it rising up and down but I've always figured it's because she was excited about something like the dog or her toy. It happens often enough though for me to think it's not just because she is excited about something. I'll see what they say though, I hope it's nothing.

emejay, No appointment yet. I'm going to call her pedi this morning to see what their thoughts are on it but I plan to make one so they can hear her. She was recently there a month ago for her throat and she didn't mention anything about it but I would feel better going in.
Today we are shooting pictures of our house for our listing. Cue freak out about hiding allthethings.
Haha we did this in November and I laughed everytime I saw the professional photos. You'd never know there was a mamaroo and three giant bins of clutter hiding around the corner!

While today I walked by a family sitting outside a cafe all smoking with their baby in a stroller next to them. And I saw an advertisement earlier today that, roughly translated, said: "Quit smoking! Smoke less than 4 cigarettes a day!" Um...what?

At the milestone checkups they also tend to do a full assessment - so look at their eyes, ears, listen for murmurs, check their hips, etc. Here they don't want to see us at 9 months anymore and the gap is from the 6 months appointment to the 1 year appointment. So I would make sure you see your doc for a 1 year checkup, but I personally wouldn't rush in there tomorrow or anything.

sandj918, ((HUGS)) PGAL brain is a bitch and I understand you wanting to wait.
I feel like the worst Mom ever. Jacob's diarrhea is getting worse. Last night, he took 2 oz. of his dream feed bottle and then pooped himself over night and I had no idea. This morning he took 4 oz of his bottle. Then when I changed his diaper before his nap his diarrhea was a green color.
