sophiegrace that's great!!!! How sweet of them to go above and beyond. I frequent them a lot but had to stop watching the show bc the girls bugged me and I didn't want to stop going, ha. Everyone is going to be thrilled!
I had no idea there was a show! I'll have to look it up.
DC cupcakes is a show about Georgetown cupcakes.
I feel like it's an UO but H and I aren't big fans of their cupcakes, we prefer baked and wired. However it's hard to beat that customer service!
sophiegrace Gotta say I LOVE LOVE LOVE when people go above and beyond the scope of their job, not because they are getting paid to be overachievers (prob getting paid peanuts) but because they are genuinely good, caring people who want to give joy to someone. What a great turnout!!
Now onto the sedation... This scares me. You mean to tell me we (patients) talk while we're under twilight sedation?!?! I had a major finger laceration a couple years ago and my doctor/surgeon was doing a nerve repair surgery while I was under twilight... Just so happens I had the HUGEST crush on him, so so hot. Now I'm wondering if I came onto the poor guy unknowingly.

Good afternoon ladies! My H's college roommate was in town yesterday so he told me they were coming over at 6:30pm. They showed up at 8:30pm. We went to dinner, and then everyone wanted to go to a bar. I didn't want to be a party pooper so I went. I didn't get in bed until midnight and I had to be up at 6 this morning! Dragging today! (Moms w babies or toddlers feel free to tell me to shut up complaining about sleep deprivation lol but that's deprivation for me!)

Thanks! I would not have thought to look for a show with an alternate name. I've never lived anywhere with fantastic mind blowing bakeries. We have smith island cakes here, which are absolutely amazing if made by the right person, but no bakeries that blow it out of the water. I don't think it's an (a?) UO that you like another bakery! Shoot, I wish I had multiple delicious places to choose from.

LOL well I think it is blasphemous to say that on my local board We are very lucky to have lots of yummy sweet treats around here.

Girl sleep deprivation is rough no matter what. I can vividly remember when 3hrs felt like an amazing night sleep, however now if I am awake for a few hrs in the night it kills me the next day. I can appreciate that I am not deliriously sleepy but it's still rough! I hope you find some energy somewhere.

Oh my gosh same here kleigh!! I feel like I need to write all the reviews I can and maybe even a thank you card. They absolutely took it to the next level. It's not like I order hundreds of cupcakes either. I ordered 24, a small order compared to what I'm sure they deal with daily. AND I get to eat them!! So much happiness right now.
As for your second paragraph...it's highly dependent on both the patient and the anesthetist. Most times we want the patient to be comfortable, but more importantly, still. If we need someone to be down for a painful block and then doing something where a moving target isn't a big deal we'll bring them out of it. They'll remember that. Sometimes we need to lighten up a bit to give them instructions or relax them. They won't remember that. 99% of the time they're just silly and talking while falling asleep and then take the most amazing nap until we want them fully with it.
The only time we have talkers throughout the whole case is when we deal with addicts or alcoholics. Their liver burns off the sedative as fast as we can give it. I wouldn't worry about what you could have or may have said. The stuff patients tell my H consciously are so much worse than anything ever said while anyone's gone under.
Saw so much vagina today. So so much vagina. I assisted with an Achilles repair that was with local anesthetic. No reason ever that I need to see skin above the knee let alone someone's lady bits. She thought she was a hilarious little hot shit. Bitch, no.
I have no words.
Holy shit, I hope I didn't do that with my Achilles repair. I know I was telling the dr about wanting to drink margaritas but I don't remember much after that...
LOL. We are #soulmates. When I got my wisdom teeth out, apparently I talked to the oral surgeon about margaritas and my love of tequila as I was going under (I was 21 at the time). Apparently he and the nurses were cracking up.
dashook I made H turn on our AC last night. It was just so humid out and open windows wasn't helping at all. He was really hoping to make it until June but pregnant wife wins!
ClassyMrsA, I need a haircut so badly. I was trying to figure out if I could sneak out for a bit today and get one but I don't think that's going to happen. Waaaay too much work to get done and I'm trying to at least whittle down (because unfortunately I won't be able to totally eliminate) the amount of work I will have to do over the long weekend. aggiebug, glad everything went well and you got a great look at baby boy! sophiegrace, yay! I'm so glad it worked out with the cupcakes!
sophiegrace So glad the cupcake situation worked out the way you were hoping. Cheers for great customer service! tallblonde Agreed, I found the sisters on Georgetown Cupcakes super annoying. I like the cupcakes, though!
An unpopular opinion sounds correct, but saying an UO sounds incorrect.
Is it a UO when saying the acronym?
No. With acronym's it depends on how it's pronounced. U = You (sound)
Another example I found is HIV. An HIV patient is correct because H is pronounced aitch.
Interesting.
You know HIV and most national acronyms I say the letters or how it's pronounced in the media (NATO as Nate-o, vs TSA as tee-ess-a) , but the ones here I mentally say the whole phrase. So UO I always read as unpopular opinion or DH/H as husband etc.
vinolove Teddy Graham's are a staple of any pregnant woman's purse. My sisters found mine and were laughing because apparently that was their secret snack too!

And on that note, I should check and make sure one of them is not sick. Well behaved fur clan usually means something has been gotten into. Or destroyed. Usually both.
I have a question: Now that I'm getting some energy back, how much exercise is too much? I'm used to doing zumba for about 45 minutes to an hour (I would guess 45 minutes of actual dancing in class to be realistic), I used to swim for about 30 minutes to an hour 2 days a week and used to do a Jillian Michaels DVD a few times a week but due to 1st tri, everything stopped. Now I'm feeling a bit better (especially in the morning) and would like to get back to into a routine. I understand that my routine will have to change but I don't know what is too much. I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow but was just curious if anyone had insight.
cheshie6 Def ask your OB as you said you will because they know you and your history/any risks/etc but I know a lot of people just cut back intensity/length and heed certain generally accepted principles: no exercises that require you to lay on your back for a period of time, don't raise your core body temp too much, refrain from things that pose a falling risk, jarring motions, or risk of being hit with something (tennis, softball, waterskiing, etc).
As far as personally, I used to run (not excessively but about 3 miles a day) and I gave that up and switched to walking. I also gave up strength training and focus more on stretching. These are personal preferences based on the thought that heaven forbid something ever happened I would blame myself if I thought I'd overdone it - that is me.
If it hadn't taken me this long to get pregnant and I wasn't carrying twins, then I would have kept running (about a mile and based on how I felt) and kept strength training (light).
Ask yourself how you feel after these workouts and do you comfortable to stop/leave in the middle of class when you feel you've had enough ? That's important.

cheshie6 as long as you're feeling good I say be as active as you can be for as long as possible. You'll know when you push it too far. The best tip I have is to alway keep your body in a aerobic condition..meaning oxygen is always available to your tissues..now that the placenta is in play. If you can talk without issue you're good to go. My workouts have been pathetic (maybe we can do a check in for motivation??), but if I'm doing anything cardio related I'll listen to some good 80s hits I know the words to so I can sing along. If I start gasping for breathe I slow my roll.
Ab and core exercises are talked about a lot, but it seems to vary significantly from person to person. I can't do any whereas an old college friend of mine is 35 weeks and still doing all normal weightlifting routines as though she wasn't pregnant.

kleigh also had some great advice! I forget about other activities since I'm only in the gym..and with A/C at that so I'm never too hot.
Kleigh, do you plan on running post partum? I'm hoping to get into it after the baby comes since we have a nice half mile long driveway I can push a stroller on. Plus..free.
sophiegrace, I love the idea of a check in for motivation. I'm thinking of moving from Zumba to aqua zumba twice a week when belly become to much. I just didn't like not being so active. I love zumba and have had more fit ladies in pregnancy do zumba their entire pregnancy. But after being out of it for a while, I'm afraid I'd push myself too hard which to me is easy to do in class because you feed off the instructor and other students. I'm thinking of signing up for a prenatal yoga class. I'm so not flexible but want to work on it because I know it'll help me in the long run!
Yes I would confer with your ob about exercise, especially if you have any risk factors. I will say mine gave me an outrageously conservative answer the first time so I kind of didn't listen. As in hr below 100 and don't do any weight training and I have zero risk factors and was moderately active prior to pregnancy and I had read numerous reputable reports say things quite contrary to this given my circumstances.
Some say you can do what you were doing before getting pregnant just listen to your body and don't push yourself as much. I followed the mantra of if I can carry a conversation and feel comfortable during and after I am OK. Most can do strength training through the entire pregnancy with no issues however I think there are more risk factors for limiting that can arise during pregnancy. But swimming and zumba keep it up momma.

cheshie6 and aggiebug I want to try prenatal yoga oh so bad, but always find a reason not to go. Maybe I should try a video so I don't embarrass myself? Do you like that website so far aggiebug?
When I asked my OB last time around about exercise I got a shrug and a 'get it girl!'...not exactly the advice I was looking for from a 60+ year old man. Funny nevertheless.

LOL that is quite a response!
I honestly haven't used it much at all but I like the concept;). My MIL actually recommended it to me and likes it, she says some of the instructors are definitely better than others but she has done a lot of their videos and been a happy with it. I think I only found one beginner prenatal yoga, but I figured if I liked it and got tired of it well I can look at the library or ya know pay for a class.
sophiegrace Oh I def plan to (try to) get back into it post partum. I never used to be able to run more than a minute or two, I have asthma and at the first sign of difficulty I'd stop. When I started battling anxiety/depression I poured myself into it, took my brain out of it, and ended up running my first half marathon. So to me, running is an outlet and a life enhancer lol, I will def need it post partum!

I'll try and join you virtually! I've never been a runner, but have always wanted to be one. A way to focus in my anxiety would be such a wonderful benefit.
