In an hour or so we're heading out to H's alma mater for the day. He played baseball in college and they're having an alumni game today so he's all excited to play in that.
It's supposed to be like 95 degrees today so I'd better go hunting for sunscreen and LO's hat before we leave.
Just at the house right now.. H is pretending to do work, but keeps finding reasons to go to the car, or upstairs, or the bathroom. Clearly neither of us are in the mood to do work on the house today.
Just at the park now and going to a wedding tonight.
We have a 15 yo babysitting and putting my son to bed, at their house. I don't see this going very well. Thankfully I'm obviously not drinking and the house is only 15 minutes away.
Good morning! I'm laying in bed, I've been up for a while but knew if I stayed in bed long enough my H would do the dishes before I got a chance. It worked I hear him now! So I guess I'm free to get up
dashook, that sounds like an awesome (but hot) day! I love participating in alumni things for my college. I hope you have fun! hangry, when DH was 15 he was a pro at babies! In fact, if anyone at his church needed a babysitter for someone under 3, they asked for him over his sisters! Maybe your 15 yo babysitter will surprise you!?! **fingers crossed** rory5280, that's super smart! My DH won't do dishes unless something he wants needs to be cleaned. LOL
I taught swimming this morning. I was surprised by how many of my swimmers showed up! Parent and child class was full! All 8 families showed up. On a holiday weekend, I expected people to be at the beach/shore/lake etc. so it was a nice surprise. I'm wondering if its the warm weather. LOL Now I'm just trying to stay cool in the house. LOL

We started the weekend by getting up early so DH and his friend could run a 5k at this huge park. I had trouble sleeping so I've been up since about 5:30. L had fun running around at the park. Then we got breakfast tacos. L broke a bottle of their hot sauce and I got it all over my feet. I even got a tiny cut from the glass, but it's fine. The tacos were yummy.
Now we're home. DH mowed, I am learning to crochet, and L played. My dad is coming down to work on the garage (it's full of boxes that mostly belong to him) and then he's going to take us to dinner. DH wants to watch a soccer game at my dad's house tonight.
I am sitting here trying not to curse my H. He's not even home yet and still needs to get ready for this wedding. We were planning on leaving the house in 10 minutes!? Wtf

Enjoy the wedding hangry! Hope your H gets himself together. That's a common scenario at my house.
Glad the tacos were yummy ClassyMrsA! Sorry about the cut foot. I feel for L, though. I'm dropping every single thing lately. This morning it was my full coffee mug. H had it halfway cleaned up and a new one ready before I moved from the spot in the kitchen.
I think it's so amazing you teach swimming cheshie6! It was my favorite activity in the world as a kid and should really get back into it.
Awesome strategy rory5280! Glad your plan worked perfectly.

Yesterday was insane at work. Thankfully to make up for it the cupcake reveal went great. They were so much sweeter than I remembered though so after my first bite I switched to pizza.
We have a house guest staying with us and he is SO LOUD. Nice, but obsessed with himself. It is still more amusing than annoying, but I see that changing by Monday. Having an extreme extrovert in a house of introverts is painfully exhausting.

He's bringing up H's ex every time H leaves the room. For some reason they despised each other. I'm not sure what she did to him, but I can understand her point. He thinks I want to talk trash on her and that I have all this juicy information to share with him.
?
He knows I've never met her. H does not keep in contact with her. No lie it's been about eight years and maybe more. It's such a confusing topic for me and it fires him up when I just shrug. I mean what do I say? "Oh yeah that ho! How dare she be all breathing and whatnot. What a bitch!"

Friend: why don't you have xyz in your fridge? (FYI it's apparently ok to question EVERYTHING as a house guest)
H: SG was really sick and couldn't eat that, then our old fridge died as she felt better and we haven't gone grocery shopping since the new fridge arrived.
Friend: I don't feel like eating all the time, but it's no excuse. You eat anyway. :turns to me: Why would you just not eat? That's really incredibly dumb.
Me: stumbling over my words attempting to explain the shitastic-ness of first tri and that i DID eat just not everything I normally could as H is slapping his forehead into his hands.
Friend: that makes literally no sense...starts a rampage about something else that makes no sense to him because supposedly the world is wrong and he is right.

Hi! I just woke up from a much needed nap and waiting for j to wake up so we can go to the beach. We went for a walk this am and hung out and played with my cousins new toy poodle.
I'm the houseguest here and my uncle really enjoys talking politics. We don't agree. 7am for a political debate is not exactly relaxing on vacation. I am worried for my aunts sanity, November is far away.. and she doesn't agree with him either, oof.
Post by sophiegrace on May 28, 2016 14:41:11 GMT -5
We'll switch tallblonde. Come stay with me and we'll go to the beach and I'll send houseguest to your uncle. Sounds like they would have a lot to discuss.
sophiegrace, I do love teaching swimming and I love the idea that because of it, kids (and parents) will be a little safer around water! Has your houseguest never been around a pregnant lady? How old is he? I mean some things he's asking seems like has either 12 or has never ventured out of his parents basement.
tallblonde, what kind of uncle do you have? I like political talk (not at 7am) but only with people who are willing to hear the other side and make rational arguments without being heated or flying off the handle. I worked at BN and one store manager was all about McCaine/ Palin, and assumed that I didn't like McCain because it was "cooler" to like Obama. That's it! So one evening during inventory, he had me cornered in kids and I had to explain to him that McCaine is against the Jones' Act and as a merchant marine, that's my livelihood and DH's livelihood too, and a few other things I didn't like which shut him up. He just expected a 25 year old to like Obama because he was younger and cooler. We have friends we can talk politics with and be ok but we also know the friends that we can't/won't talk about them too. Our friend W. is one we won't because he's one who doesn't let you finish your statement b/c he hears something he thinks is bad and even DH saying, "I understand the draw to Trump..." set W. off!?! So sorry that you're the houseguest if you're not enjoying the political view! LOL
sophiegrace Keep the houseguest stories coming, I'm equal parts appalled and amused. Some people are so obtuse. I wish you could drink to get through the weekend without losing it.
tallblonde we have a couple politics-talkers in my family that drive everyone nuts. We are all of the same political persuasion but there are varying degrees of rabidness (or lack thereof) and some differences in views, particularly on social issues; most of us would just prefer not to talk about it for fear of getting a couple zealots fired up. Particularly not delightful at 7 a.m. Enjoy the beach and the toy poodle!
I just got back from a quick grocery run, just getting some things for our beach day tomorrow. DH is flying tonight so he just left. B is still napping and I need to wake him up, but it took an unusually long time to get him down so I am enjoying the silence.
sophiegrace, all of my LTs are for support/camaraderie. He sounds like a treat. Please continue to live blog his stay if it helps keep you sane!
Ugh, you guys. Today was way too much. It was so, so hot and there was hardly any shade at all. DH was in the dugout the whole time and couldn't really help at all so it was just on me to chase DS around, keep him hydrated, keep him from running into areas where he could get hit with foul balls, etc. It wasn't possible to not overdo it.
We just got finished with dinner and will be getting in the car shortly to go home. I told H to go easy on the post-game beers because he's driving. I can barely keep my eyes open and I have a headache.
He had an awesome time and I'm so glad we came out; I think it really meant a lot to him. I just wish I had thought ahead a little more and realized how hard this day would be on me physically. Early bedtime tonight for sure.

hope you get some good sleep tonight and lots of rehydration!
So is wearing white to a wedding now acceptable?? There are at least 3 females with white dresses on tonight.
Maybe I'm too old fashioned, but this is the brides day to be in white (or cream, or ivory, etc).
I agree, no white or similar at weddings unless you're the bride.
I'm old-school on many things (ok, most things) etiquette-related and realize the times they are a'changing, but I feel like this is a hard and fast rule.

hangry - I have noticed this the last few weddings I've been to as well. It's so weird- seriously you don't own any non-white dresses that would be appropriate?!
Post by sophiegrace on May 28, 2016 21:52:32 GMT -5
hangry I agree with you and PP, no white to wedding unless you're the bride. There are so many beautiful colors to wear this time of year that there really isn't an excuse. I'm grouchy.

Has anyone here seen the movie step brothers? There's a scene where the dad finally gets fed up and starts screaming 'shit the f*** up!'....I've been a heartbeat away from that moment for hours.
He's here until Monday.
He slept until after noon today and so I've only dealt with this for less than 11 hours.
He thinks H is going to stay up until the morning hours with him.
H and I had surgery this morning. We've been up since 6. We're exhausted and like our bedtime.
I'm waking up as early as possible tomorrow and vacuuming. The upstairs looks good, but I should probably take it up there and run it for good measure.
