Morning! I've asked Dr Google this question but I'm not finding much... Maybe someone here knows of an old family trick or something!
I want to end my lactational amenorrhea. Is there any way I can get my period back without reducing breastfeeding? She's been night weaned for almost two months now, for around a month I've been breastfeeding about 4 times in 24 hours only and still nothing has changed. The only solution I've come across is to wean (and one website suggested I eat a ton of calories) and I don't really want to do that yet. Any suggestions ladies?
I have looked this question up a lot and asked my midwife, and the answer really is there is nothing to do to make it come back if your body isn't doing it itself, besides weaning.
I tired taking Vitex (aka chaste berry) but it didn't work.
My periods didn't come back until I weaned down to 1-2 times a day. My first was 16 months when I finally ovulated. I was so ready to get pregnant again but I wanted to nurse until 2 years old, so it was really hard to decide to wean that early for me.
With my next baby, it was an easier decision, but again, I had to go down to nursing 1-2 times a day to get my period.
And it's held true for every baby. I know this is not the case with all women, but it was the case for me.
I'm so glad that Dani learned how to clap, so that she can do it in her crib instead of going to sleep.
But I bet she looks freaking adorable!
Well, of course... Especially when she scoots over to the side by the glider, and grins at me through the bars like a creeper.
We actually learned that she claps on command, which is really adorable. All you have to say is "clap" and she does it... Kind of like teaching a dog tricks. #momoftheyear
I'm so exhausted, I need a weekend from my weekend. It was pretty fun, just busy.
Also on Saturday S managed to tear his upper lip tie (he sat down hard on his butt from standing and I think bit through it but not sure).. There was a lot of blood and scream crying but it seems to have healed up. ?
Today we did our first bike ride with all four of us.. I pulled J in one trailer and S was in the other in his car seat. Can't wait until the helmet fits him (it's a little big yet) and we can just use one trailer.
My grandmother, on the recommendation of her doctor, put my mom on canned milk at 3 months. Not like she fed her canned milk, like that was her main source of food. Oh how times change.
My grandmother had 4 kids close together (the last two were whoopsies and then she made my grandpa get a vasectomy), and at one point the oldest was in school and the youngest was a baby so my grandma would wait until the baby fell asleep and then take the other two kids to the grocery store because she couldn't handle 3 littles with only one pram. Now, is that worse or better than leaving your kid in the car?
Wait so she would leave the baby at home?? What happened if they woke up?!
This is why I believe older generations don't remember how poorly their babies slept. They unconsciously did CIO from a young age.
Especially when you have a lot of small children close in age, and have loads of housework to do etc. then sleep training just happens because you are physically unable to attend to every child at once.
I tell people this all the time IRL, I find working with a group of infants easier than having just one. In a group they have to learn to wait and even if one (or more) is freaking out you just go with it because the others need attending to. Of course it's stressful but I find the stress of getting everything done for multiple babies easier than the stress of having one baby on a pedestal.
Have you guys ever watched Call the Midwife? Granted it's a fictional show but they just leave the babies outside in their prams!! I'm terrified every time I see it because all it takes is one kid pulling up to take a header out of the pram. I'm assuming people actually did this back in the 50s
This is still a thing in places like Denmark. People go intocafes or stores and leave the baby outside.
Wow. Hopefully they at least use strollers with straps now?
