icequeen. Totally understand being able to handle it on your own. Glad it's not a long trip. DH will be gone again next week. Kinda looking forward to not having to please him and the kids for a week.

silverspoon, I really hope your DS starts feeling better soon! We had a really long, drawn-out stomach bug a few weeks ago and it was awful just seeing how long it took the DDs to get better. I hope the pedialyte treatment helps.
dizzycooks, I think it's normal for life to revolve around sleep with LOs this age. What are your sleep training rules? We're probably going to start in another 2-3 weeks. Ferber with slightly modified times (I started with 1, 3, 5 min instead of 3, 5, 7) worked really well with DD1, but his MOTN methods didn't work for either DD1 or DD2. I'm hoping they do with DD3.
We are having a really busy week, but thankfully a class I was supposed to teach this weekend got cancelled. It wouldn't have been that much money and I could really use the time to work on a translation project, plus it means DDs 1+2 can start swim lessons this weekend!

We are feeding and changing her at 7 and then Dh will check on her at 10 minutes. Then she's on her own until 10 unless she is somehow stuck in her crib. Then I'll feed her and change her and she's on her own again until 3 hours later. Repeat at 3 hours, but generally it's the midnight to 5 time period that sucks and then she sleeps until like 8am or something. Last night she woke up at 10:45 when she woke at 230 I went right up and fed and changed her. I didn't hear from her again until 745. She did cry for about 30 minutes at midnight, but once she settled down she got a few more hours of sleep. I know she can go 4-5 hours at night and she's done 6-7 so I know she can do it. +1 for a tummy sleeper. She is now rolling to her tummy pretty quickly and I'm hoping that helps!
valie, is the library closed completely? Can you just go in and play and read? I dont know what id do without the library either. sjames2015, he is only gone until Friday so not too long of a trip this time. Ive gotten pretty used to him being away in terms of doing everything on my own.

Hmmm, they want me to add some rice cereal to all his bottles for a few days. I was pretty adamant about not starting solids until 6 months, but they think it will help with the diarrhea. I really don't want to do cereal.
Can you put that in a bottle with regular nipples? That's all I have.
I've got anther 24 hours of just pedialyte to figure it out. If we do it for a few days it doesn't mean we have to continue it.

I wouldn't count that as starting solids, tbh. I think they probably just want to add some starch to get his poops less liquidy. You might need a nipple with a faster flow, though. I'd check it out, but it probably also depends on how much you add to the bottle. If you only put in a little you can probably still use the milk nipples, but if you're adding more than you might need different ones.
fish8412 - I agree - gummy smiles forever!!! Lollipop - that's cool about the tooth though - was she fussy at all leading up to it? I don't think DS got his first tooth until about six months old. And he was a total stealth teether - I'd just look in his mouth and see two or three more each time ..
Not overly fussy. S never was either. I think the teething necklaces helped a lot with that

Can I rant a bit?? We have a measles outbreak in our county. Confirmed cases are expected to rise into the hundreds very quickly. I don't like being an alarmist but with the way measles spreads I'm terrified to take DD out now. She won't be fully vaccinated until after 6 months. I'm seriously pissed off at anti-vaxxers right now!
scorpioscuba I would be nervous about going out too. And seriously raging at anti-vaxxers. It's possible that my kids will never be fully vaccinated for MMR. I get them vaxxed on schedule, but for some reason the vaccine didn't take properly in me, and it's possible it won't work properly for my kids either.

That's scary! I've read the vax doesn't "take" in about 10% of people.

How do you know this?? Scary!
There's blood work that can tell you the level of protection you have. My OB had a full work up done on me with both pregnancies, and after S was born I had to get the VAX again. When I was pregnant with M, the report showed I still wasn't at the level I should be, but since I'd had the booster in the last 5 years, the doctor surmised that I am just resistant to the vaccine. My regular doctor said it's possible the kids will have the same problem, but it's impossible to tell until they'vehad all of the vaccines + bboosters.
silverspoon could you spoon feed him some cereal with formula mixed in instead of giving him a bottle?
I think so.
The nurse wanted it in all of his formula bottles for a few days just to firm things up. So I think it would be easier to just put it in the bottles. If I can figure out how to get it out.
scorpioscuba, I would feel the same way. To be fair I have anxiety, but still. We have an unvaccinated population near us and I didn't take my littles until they were 4mos. If there is ever an outbreak we'll be staying away. (Outbreaks happen every so often and people DIE.)

I got tested too. If you're born around '87 something was funny with the measles vaccine or booster (can't remember) in Ontario (maybe beyond) and they didn't take as well as they should so everyone my age is advised to be tested before TTC.

I was born 89 in NB. I think the issue is just something with my physiology, I wasn't told to be tested before TTC. I'm immune, but just barely. The doctor said that to be fully immune you need to be at 15(what, I don't know), I'm at 17, and the average person/ideal number is 20 or 21.

A fast flow nipple should work, unless it's too thick, then you would need a tri-cut nipple.

Fuck. This day is kicking my ass. It's crazy that two tiny people can make me feel so exhausted and utterly incompetent at this whole mom thing. Let's just say there was much crying, poop, spit up, and to top it all off -- dd1 took off her diaper and peed on the couch while I was trying to put Dd2 down for bed. Dd2 meanwhile has been fighting sleep and been a total wreck since about 1pm, so that's been fun. I feel like dd1 has gotten ignored because I'm too busy dealing with dd2. Ugh.
I hope I can catch up with everyone better tomorrow.
Agh the vaccs broke my baby again. I mean I am glad she got them, of course, and I knew it was coming but agh! We leave for a show tomorrow at 7. I haven't packed our bags yet (or eaten dinner) because I can't put her down. It's 10 pm and if I don't get to sleep before midnight and get at least 5 hrs of interrupted sleep L won't be the only one crying tomorrow. For all this misery there is nothing that would talk me out of vaccinating. What arseholes.
NellieOleson hugs! Tomorrow is a new day. I hope it goes well for you I hope you get a break tonight. valie I've seen you mention it a few times, but don't recall why you're having your ds evaluated? What's going on? Sparkly where are you?? gizmo I hope school is winding down and you're getting ready for summer!
silverspoon I gave L a little cereal in a bottle last night. Worked fine. Sorry your peanut is so sick!!! Also I think I am going to be fairly close to your area the next few days. Maybe next time I am down (last 10 days of June) we can gtg?! If that's too creeper for you no worries. Promise that skin suiting is not a hobby though
dizzycooks, he's being evaluated for Autism or Aspergers (I honestly haven't looked into how this works). It came up during his 2y appointment last week.

Oh. My. Gawd.
I want to throat punch my husband. I was in dd1's room, on the last page of the last story before I was going to turn the lights out and he got home from work and fucking came in there! So of course she screamed "DADDY'S HOOOMMME!" and is now all pumped and wants to play.
It was already past bedtime, so why the fuck would he come in? The door was shut. That means stay out motherfucker.
This day cannot be over soon enough. I can't decide if I need alcohol or if I should just go straight to bed. Once dd1 is finally down that is. Grrrrr.
