For the ceremony we had a string quartet. I walked down the aisle to Pachabel's canon. As a surprise for my husband the recessional was to the Star Wars theme. Our first dance was " Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol.
I walked down to "kisses and cake" from the movie ps I love you. It's all instrumental. Our first dance was to ghosts that we knew by Mumford and sons. But only like half of it. I hated my first dance, it was painfully awkward.
I'm so surprised by how many of us didn't walk down the aisle to the bridal march! 90% of the weddings I go to, they walk to that.
I wasn't really interested in the bridal march, since I think it is a little cliche. But my church also doesn't allow weddings to use the bridal march.

alfibet DH and I both feel the same way about our first dance. AWKWARD. We would probably choose a different song if we had to do it again.
Ugh right? I think within 1 minute I looked at my bridal party and said "please save me" and our wedding party started dancing also. Even the father daughter dance was awkward. UGH. I hate thinking back to awkward times. I'm jealous of wind girl, I totally would skip it if I had to do it again.
My college roommate played her violin for our ceremony music. I walked down the aisle to the opening for Secrets by One Republic. The recessional was I Do by Colbie Caillat.
Our wedding was 9am at a park. We didn't have dancing- we had board games and card games for people to play instead.
I walked down the aisle to an original piece by the music director of my church played on piano. See above for first dance. Dh and I thight we were so awesome walking into our reception to Shipping up to Boston by Dropkick Murphys

Really! How come?
Some churches do not allow secular music. The bridal march was composed for an opera about a man marrying a goat. I think that's the story. I had to fight to let my church allow me to use it. Yes, I was a 21yo bridezilla on that one!

That is so interesting. I didn't know that! I was 21 when I got married too. Now 32 year old me thinks I was a little ridiculous about a lot of it. Lol.

Yeah, a combination of the fact that Wagner was an anti-Semite and that the bridal march came from an opera that actually made a mockery of marriage.

I walked in to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by the smashing pumpkins.
Recessional was The Throne Room by John Williams... DH is a Star Wars fanatic. mrsc928... I think your DH would have liked our wedding. Our ushers were storm troopers and carried light sabers. That was the extent to our Star Wars, but I know it made DH super duper happy.
I walked down the aisle to Canon in D, our recessional was Rusted Root Send me on my way, and our first dance was making memories of us by Keith Urban.
AW for a moment, my Dad and I danced to Tim McGraw, My Little Girl and turned it into a remix. Something to watch if you're bored or stuck beneath a screaming baby!

First dance was Dig by Incubus.
Incubus is my favorite band, love!!
Me too!!! I finally saw them live summer of 2013. Awesome concert. I believe they are coming out with a new album very soon. Have you listened to Brandon Boyd's album? That's fabulous too.
