Don't kill me- I totally get not being comfortable with leaving your kiddo with strangers, but your BIL and future SIL *are* providing childcare so that the kids who are in/attending the ceremony aren't at the reception. It's their day, so unreasonable or not, they get to do what they want and it does sound like they are trying to accommodate their desires and the parents' needs. Do you have someone you like and trust who would be willing to come with you and stay at the hotel with LO during the reception? I know it's an inconvenience but it's also peace of mind and keeps the peace with the family.
I'm only interjecting because I've been in lots of these situations over the years with my kids and have had to bend over backwards for high needs brides/moms-to-be, etc. BUT, my opinion is what you paid for it...nothing. Sorry you are in a pickle. Hope there is a solution you are comfortable with.
I would be less pissed if they hadn't already told us he could go and would be going and then changed their mind last week. Or, if he just wasn't in the wedding and I could leave him home for the weekend. Right now I don't have anyone willing to come up with us other than family that will be present- it's far and would be an entire weekend including rehearsal dinner. If they had just said no kids from the get go I wouldn't be irritated if that makes sense.
It sucks for sure. Sorry that's the situation. They sound high maintenance. I hope it works out in your favor. One option is to just ignore them- my friend said NO KIDS at her wedding (clear from the invite), her friend brought all four of hers anyway. It wound up being fine and the girl was so absorbed in her special day she hardly noticed. You could just do that! He's little and cute...who can yell at a baby?

Right, I really don't want to be bitchy and do something they don't want I'm just pissed at the way they've gone about it. Just say no kids, don't put mine in it and put me in a position where I have to bring him for the ceremony. I'd rather leave him Home the whole weekend rather than truck him up to Maine in a hotel where he won't sleep. I guess it's more about that than anything else!! But I get what you're saying.

No, I get it. I'm totally in support of your point. It does suck and they are being HUGE pains. I think that's why I eloped- I had bent over backwards for so many brideszillas that by the time I got married I didn't want to put anyone through that. Hopefully they will get it when they have kids and get some karmic returns on this little stunt of theirs.
